I'm from the Philippines and I play a little chess, I look a lot like Hikaru but play nothing like him. People always tell me I look like Hikaru, my wife tells me I look like Hikaru. Last time I tried to played Chess in Public people gathered thinking I was Hikaru then got so disappointed when they saw I play nothing like him. I quit chess.
When facing Magnus, you either: - resign on move one (my personal favorite); - get outplayed out of the opening, point blank; - watch him positionally convert a .0001 advantage; - collapse under the pressure and blunder a totally winning position; - be led to a losing endgame; - be led to a theoretically drawn endgame and outmaneuvered somehow; - be a super GM and maybe draw, occasionally win a game; - be Stockfish; - be a Stockfish (cough) carrier.
One of the worst things for someone's chess career is to play Magnus, the second worst thing is playing him in Armageddon where he has like a 90% win rate
i love this format 10 min is just perfection its enough speed for it to be entertaining and its slow enough that commentators can share some insightful winning lines and explain the positions. there is no better time control
