I used to sing this in my car coming home from work in the late 1970's. Stuck in traffic I would look to my left and right and sing those famous words. Memories I tell you, nothing like music to take you back to a time and place. Thanks.
I can NEVER hear this song and NOT SEE in my head Mr. Blonde, from RESERVOIR DOGS, as it is playing 🎵 🎶 🎵 🎶 🎵🎶 😂😂😂😂😂
1000%. "Hear that?"
Can't hear this song and not start dancing like Mr. Blonde either 😁😁😁😁
My thoughts exactly !
Yup
"Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right", love that line. Great selection.
Reservoir Dogs.... you will never hear this song the same way again.
@@RicoCosta317 I don't think so
@@RicoCosta317 No it's fantastic. I remember Harvey Keitel dancing around the cop and cutting off his ear but it's a great tune and a fun movie.
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with you... How many times has that line been used between friends joking around... Countless times.
I've used it myself
I try to quote this line nearly every time someone forces me to talk to them about politics...
It was the song my first dance with my wife was when we were Married.....ONLY A FEW got the joke😂😂😂😂😂😂.
My wife is the bestest, as we still laugh about that 20 years later.
COWBELL!! 😎
I got fever.....
"Reservoir Dogs" totally warped this song for me.
❤the song. Back in the day my bestie’s boyfriend used to sing this (he had a lisp so we used to crack up cause he sounded funny) thanks for the wonderful memories ❤
Another classic played on a lot of jukeboxes at the bars !
I don't know why it's taken me all these years to hear the parallel between this and "Mama Told Me Not To Come." I mean you could almost mix them - "clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, mana told me not to come..."
Your take on the lyrics sounds right to me. Wikipedia says "Rafferty's lyrics are a dismissive tale of a music industry cocktail party (e.g., the clowns and jokers would be all the music executives and hangers on), written and performed as a parody of Bob Dylan's style." Notably, the lyrics echo the themes of Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower", at least before Jimi Hendrix gave them a cosmic reframing.
Love this song. Stealers Wheel was the Scottish folk rock band Gerry Rafferty was in 1972. They also did the song "Star". Later on Gerry went out on his own & had the hits "Baker's Street", "Right Down The Line" & "Night Owl".
I loved this song but I loved "Star" even more! (Too few of us remember it... such cool chords...)
For the last 40 or 50 years, this song goes through my head whenever I find myself in the company of idiots! Notably, at company meetings! LOL!
A very catchy tune!
There’s actually a great video for this song.
Thanks bro now after all these years its gonna be popping into my head. All good.
Gerry Rafferty deserves a serious listen. I love "Home and Dry" "Maddie's Rag" "Welcome to Hollywood"and "the Ark" along with the obvious hits.✌️
Such a classic song from an iconic band full of very talented musicians
Can't hear this song, or even just the title, without thinking of that disturbing scene in the movie "Reservoir Dogs". If you've seen the movie you know, if not, well... .
Stealers Wheel "Star" was also a hit for them that is often forgotten or overlooked,, But is more than well worth a listen. 🔥🎶🔥
Nicceeee JM! And true lyrics. This is Gerry Raffertys old band. Well dun mate ☘️
Teeny- Bopper music.
You're striking deep with your song collection lately. "Rhapsody...", "Can't take my eyes off..", Marmalade. These songs played across all the stations back then. Steelers Wheel and ELO were the second coming of the Beatles. It helped us adjust to their breakup. Thanks.
checkin in... ya ive been there and was hard to wipe the smile off my face too
Classic song. Reservoir Dogs for sure!
Who is picturing Michael Madson in Reservoir Dogs right now 😂😂😂😂
The song from the Quentin Tarantino movie, Reservoir Dogs. What a disturbing scene!
Produced by George Martin
That was a son g dedicated to me by my late husband when we heard it on our first date...
This is my wedding song, my wife and I danced to it for our first dance....let's say only a few in attendance got our humor. 😂😂😂😂😂
Perfect song for the right and left in politics. This got a second life when Reservoir Dogs came out in 1992.
I believe he's doing a Dylan parody here. Certainly sounds like him. Whatever the case, this is a pop rock classic introduced to millennials in the Tarentino film Reservoir Dogs, though it was featured in one of the bloodiest, most violent scenes in movie history. Keep going down these pop and rock rabbit holes my man. I figure you might have to go another 50 years before you hit them all! 😂
I agree this is a Dylan parody. Not just the way he sings, but also the lyrics. Dylan songs have both jokers (All Along The Watchtower) and clowns (Like A Rolling Stone).
I don't get Dylan at all from this lol. I've loved this song, and Jerry Rafferty's solo stuff...forever..but I can't stand Dylan's voice.
Sounds like my live in the 80s
This MUST HEAR Classic 2nd hit for them offers some great advice for those wanting to start a career in music,, Stealers Wheel "Star"
😊😊😊😊
Have loved this song forever...so glad to see your reaction!
Theme song from “Reservoir Dogs”. Another Tarantino non-violent (lol) classic thriller.
Not exactly.
Love it❤❤❤
Great tune/choice
This always reminds me of a certain party with certain party favors (psychedelics) a la 1974. 🤡✌
Such a great tune!
Forgot what this sounds like without all the mayhem.
JMBOY, You should listen to "Indian Reservation" by Don Fardon. Blessings from England. 🇬🇧💙
More Cow Bell. lol.
I think of Reservoir Dogs when I hear this.
Btw do more marty robbins
Check out the crazy video some time.
My man could you please react to fear factory invisible wounds (dark bodys) that song means more to me than m6 partner really knows
You gotta warch the video later.
Cool needs no other explanation.
JMBOY, I was a freshman in High school early 70s when this came out. I thought it was just me, but one night at a keg party, this song came on the radio. All at once, there was a collective groan when this song came on. It was like a race to change the station. I asked some other people why they didn't like this song, and most said it was just "lame" and the lyrics were pre-teenish and nonsensical. Those were the same reasons I disliked it too. After listening to Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Elton John and all the rest of classic Rock Royalty, this just wasn't in the same class for most over the age of 15 and older. Just a different opinion. Love this channel friend.
