The late great Gerry Rafferty on lead vocals. One of the great Top 40 songs ever, and a nice Dylan parody. And yes, Harri, you will have it stuck in your head for quite a while!
Every time I hear this song I immediately think of “Reservoir Dogs”!😂 I will forever associate this song with that gruesome movie. It’s still a great song. 🌺😁
So sorry, I just posted the same thing. Should have scrolled down first. You beat me!
That's Gerry Rafferty on lead vocals. He went on to be a famous solo artist and had a huge hit with the song Baker Street.
Baker Street
@@marlenepettiford3731 👌
I love this song. It was a huge hit here in South Africa in the 70's. Great beat, nice to go back down memory lane.👍💃😃
Ahhh...the genius of Gerry Rafferty! Considered a one hit wonder, but I disagree this whole album has many diamonds for the ears! Love it when you start jiving Harri! Drummin with a stellar classic!
😃😃
I loved Star also!
@@RicoBurghFan man how could I forget Star? Very good call bro!
Not a one hit wonder at all
\
@@lionheartroar3104 like I said I disagreed with the one hit wonder label. I have all their LPs, but my particular favorite is thier debut self titled album.
a genius Scottsman, Gerry, got more hits too
When this came out I thought for sure it was Bob Dylan. To this day it sounds like Dylan. lol Awesome request, Imadrummin! And terrific reaction, Harri!
ps~I bet *"Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right"* would get lots of votes in a poll to determine the greatest lyrical phrase in rock history.
Same. For years I never questioned that this was Bob Dylan.
Great lyric..And i can definitely see the Dylan thing now
It's intentional; Rafferty and Dylan were friends and Dylan has always kind of resented the amount of depth and meaning people try to find in literally every lyric he writes. Some of his songs have been quite deep, but others are just rock hits without much meant to be there to find. Rafferty wrote this as intentional nonsense relating to Dylan, sang the whole thing affecting a Dylan-like higher pitch and more nasally tone.
Love this song. In 1972 Gerry Rafferty was in the Scottish folk rock band Stealers Wheel & had a big hit with "Stuck In The Middle With You" & "Star". Later on, he went out on his own & then had the big hits "Baker's Street", "Right Down The Line" & "Night Owl".
You just named my 3 favourite Gerry Rafferty solo songs there .. "Right Down The Line" is one of the best love songs EVER written .. And "Night Owl" is an absolutely exquisite song about loneliness, which will stay with you forever .. "Baker Street" needs no words .. Famous song and rightfully so .. Wayne
Ohhhhhhh! He's the guy who did Baker street? Wow
One of the catchiest tunes ever! Every time I hear my old "Stuck in the Middle" ear worm comes back, sometimes for days. Loved your reaction, Harri.
Gerry Rafferty on lead vocals, this song was used in Quentin Tarantino’s classic movie Reservoir Dogs in what was the most iconic Scene in the movie
So thats where i must have heard it.Thought it sounded familiar
I remember this at the time it hit the charts ,I didn't think much of it then, but now with mature ears and nostalgia it hits that spot 🎶👍🎶😁
Love this song! Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with you. Great stuff! Now I have to go listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gimme Three Steps.
I second the Skynyrd suggestion.
"Wait a minute mister, I didn't even kiss her!"
Yet another Swamper's iconic 1970's hit minted in Mussel Shoals. Bad ass song recorded by bad ass musicians, for THE Southern Rock Band. Good call!
This is a fabulous choice, @imadrummin, I first heard it when it came out. I think PFM's "Celebration" was also being played a lot then, it was good times. Stealers Wheel arose from the ashes of The Humblebums (Billy Connelly and Gerry Rafferty), they recorded the original and best version of "Her Father Didn't Like Me Anyway" which I would have requested but for the fact that it has too few plays. I suppose that none of Stealers Wheel's other songs is popular enough to choose except, perhaps, "Star."
I'd say that Stealers Wheel were closer to Medicine Head than T Rex. Does anyone else agree?
Gotta love this classic song from the 70's. Gerry Rafferty's vocal style just simply fit this song. Great reaction!
Love this song. However, after watching the movie, Reservoir Dogs, I always think of the ear chopping off scene played to this song. Michael Madsen was dancing around his prisoner (forget his name) to the song and then cuts off the guy's ear. Crazy Tarentino movie.
This song was such a staple of my weekends in high school! Gerry Raferty is so good. Give his song The Ark a listen. Very overlooked and I think you’ll love it.
this song was used to great effect in 'reservoir dogs'. Everytime I hear this song I see Michael Madsen doin' his thing.
Brings back memories of hanging out with friends in the summers in the 70s and this would come on over the radio 📻
I really like this song! It has a great groove. Great analysis Harri
Quinten Tarantino used this in a scene where a cops gets tortured in Reservoir Dogs.
If you like this, check out "Amie" by Pure Prairie League, with Vince Gill on vocals and guitar. Amazing harmonies.
Anyone that saw Tarrentino's "RESERVOIR DOGS" can never hear this song and not envision the horror of that "ear" scene.
Fifty years later this song is stuck in my head❤❤
It's a great classic song with a killer groove.
I loved seeing your get into it like that! I was jammin right along with you. I love your reactions. Keep them coming!
an early master piece by garry...and the bass is sooooo grooovy
if only they could write like that today......................
Most people compare the vocals to Bob Dylan. But when it first came out, I thought George Harrison was singing. 🤷🏼♀️ Great, great song. I hope you’ll check out more by Gerry Rafferty.
I think it sounds more like John Lennon.
I was in a band that covered this--I played the washboard for the claps (and yeah, I did the cowbell, too.) And we had a tuba for the bass. ;)
Fantastic reaction Harri. Been a song that has been stuck in the middle of my head for years. :)
Check out Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty if you haven’t already!
Not lazy. High as a kite. 😅
I don't know how you feel about cover songs, but The Jeff Healey Band does an amazing cover of this. I'm not much of a fan of cover songs myself, but Jeff does an awesome job!
Checked it out. Nice cover indeed! Thanks
QUINTIN TARANTINO Famously used this song on Reservoir Dogs.
I always loved this song! The video is hilarious and did I hear cowbell? haha. Actually, if you saw the video, your description of the toothache is totally on point! And, it is like T Rex, I get it.
Sherrie! Sherriie baby! I hope you dont hate that song 🤣😅🤣
@@HarriBestReactions I do not. I consider it a term of endearment! haha
Reminds me of the Beatles, George specifically and the guitar also.
Wonderful reaction.. couldnt keep the smile from my face. Thank so much!!
You've heard it if you've watched "Reservoir Dogs"
Consider reacting to Gerry Rafferty's "Right Down the Line" or "Home and Dry"
Great song my dear friend, saludos desde México :)
So, is this about a bad party? Politics? Bad Party politics? Do it matter? Not from my year's point of view.
💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
you're on a roll Harri! hope you get back to 60's & 70's soul groups...so much to hear! try Enchantments singing "gloria" a hidden jem you will love. also please open up Jackie wilson to your people...they deserve it.
Love your reactions, Harri!..I enjoy your joy so much when you discover the great music I was privileged to hear growing up. You are a beautiful human being, man. Keep ‘em coming!!
Thank you! 🖤
I am TOTALLY Picking up what you are putting down about T-Rex! :-D
I love it.. I just know it from childhood never knew who sang it.. I love it I love watching you react to songs you make me love the music more and rediscover these songs.. Thanks Harri
Glad this is covered. One of my favorites. Will forever by associated with "Resevoir Dogs" of course. Not a bad thing BTW in my view.
Found this delightful dance routine

A top=tier fave since it came out. Was glad Tarantino's love of classics hit this and 'You Never Can Tell'. Soundtrack money babe.
Gerry Rafferty sings (Baker st.) Reservoir Dogs soundtrack is where most know this song. Stealers Wheel had an album (Ferguslie Park) where I grew up. Iain Banks(author)(Crow rd.; Walking on Broken Glass) describes Ferguslie as ‘ a triangular piece of land bordered by railway lines; and no matter what direction you enter from, you’ll always find yourself on the wrong side of the tracks’. Gerry was in a folk band with Tam Harvey and Billy Connolly called ‘ The Humblebums’ .
Great reaction! Way to get into it 🙂🙂🙂
Gerry Rafferty has written a lot of great songs - you already heard him before on Baker Street. Another one of his I would suggests is "Get It Right Next Time". ruclips.net/video/KGrCDAO3XaU/видео.html
Hi Harri, I think you've reacted to "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty? This is Gerry Rafferty doing the singing. Funny how the expression "clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right" seems to be all over the place these days :) - thanks for a great reaction to a great song. (And if I'm wrong about "Baker Street," do give it a listen.)
You have to smile at this goofy song. Very 70's, as is the album cover. I do fear an ear worm lurking, though.
Only 10 out of 10, Harri. It's better than that 😃😃
This was our song when my wife and I were dating. We’ve been married for 48 years.
I always liked this song. These days when I hear it I chuckle. Though not at the song, but because I remember a Charlie Sheen punch line from Two and a Half Men where he bemoans the dearth in composed jingles because ads are now featuring old pop hits instead and this song is perfect for a Tampon commercial.
Has Harri reacted to Rafferty's solo smash Baker Street?
Great reaction as always! I grew up on this song- love it, unique song☺
Please react to What Fun?!- The Right Side Won
This vocals have some kind of Dylan esc style .The talking part and the accent ☯️✌
None are mentioning what I think is the best aspect of this song: It is a humorous tale of a stoned presence at a party/gathering where the protagonist is getting a bit paranoid and wanting to exit pronto, but is frozen in contemplation of the situation. Been there! The music is great, but it is the story that makes it, IMHO.
One hit wonder.... big hit. The singer went on to have a great career solo
Have a listen to the cover version by Jeff Healey band he rocks it out
Reservoir dogs that's what this song reminds me of maybe if you have seen that movie that may be why you heard it.
All my mind go's 2 is Mr blonde . fargin reservoir dogs
I use to think 🤔 this was the "Beatles" as a youngster! Haha
One of those songs that (even all these years later) always has me reaching for the volume.
I had a friend that got busted for pot in the 70's and he kept singing this song while in jail
Looked it up They are Scottish
1973. Eighth grade.
LOve it....great reaction!
Toe tapping music!
Love your reaction to this fantastic song, it was a great hit & still is with you bringing it back 😻🇨🇦☮️💜
their second hit "STAR" is also a good song.
Bang a gong.. great song too
Great great song
ᴘʀᴏᴍᴏsᴍ
Always liked this song, catchy tune!
Reservoir Dogs has this song and it is a very memorable movie.
When you hear the song in that movie you never look at it the same again.
Saw that movie but dont remember the song there.Thats why it sounded so familiar
@@HarriBestReactions the torture scene. Where he cuts the guy's ear off.
🇨🇦🔥🤗 🥰
This song has been a favorite for more years than I care to admit. Love Gerry Rafferty. You should react to Gerry's song Baker Street.
I did 😀
🔥🔥🔥
I’m trying to remember if you have reacted to any of Gerry Rafferty either “Baker Street” or “right down the line” but if you have just know this is him 5 or so years before both of those songs on lead vocals
I just found out too..Incredible
You picked a great song Harri!
My favorite song sung by Rafferty is seldom mentioned and never reacted to. It is from the Mark Knopfler soundtrack of the great movie, Local Hero, the only vocal track. It is called The Way It Always Starts. Would you be willing to react to it? You would certainly like it.
I think they should use this in a Lidll advert. Stuck in yje the Lidl with you.. lol it has bern used as a movie song by Quentin Tarranrinon
More cowbell!!
My jam!
I love the video to this original song.
Gerry Rafferty channeling his inner Bob Dylan with his voice and the lyrics.
It does sound like him actually 🤣😅
