In the summer of 2020, Liverpool will move in to their stunning new £50 million training complex. Inside the state-of-the-art facility in Kirkby, eight miles from Liverpool city centre, the attention to detail is typical of Jurgen Klopp, the head coach who has restored the club to the pinnacle of European football and put them on the brink of a first league title for 30 years.

I don’t like this set up for sports facility. He’s alienating academy players that are currently with the team and when they want to recruit top talents this can be a bad think and might put off players to go to other top academies as they would offer to train with first team or use same facilities.

@Van Winter It's still way too early to assume that. How things go in football he might not even be there in 2022 if they happen to have a bad season in 2021. Not saying he isn't doing great things, just saying that things change so fast in football sometimes, and a short crisis can cost you a job as the manager.

@@banger2998 They bought those players from selling their own players though? 2 of the players you listed were under Brendan Rodgers, only 2 were above £50m, 2 of them were on a free transfer, and the rest were between £8.5m and £40m. Whereas City have bought fullbacks for £50m each lol. Look at the "net spend" since 2015 of all the PL clubs.

Not really a Fergie though. He`s been at Liverpool 8-9 years and has won 1 league title.
I was part of the design team at Knowsley council that built the original academy - great to see that the site is being developed and bringing together youth and first team into the same site after over 20 years!
This really shows how Klopp thinks. He always loved to raise the kids to let them become awesome players. I am a fan of Klopp since Mainz. ❤️

Im nearly 50, and I remember being shocked when Trevor Francis joined Notts Forrest for a million. Even Ian Rush only cost Juventus about 3 million...jeez what would a Rushie cost these days?
football and sport in general grew so much with social media especially in revenues. people all over the world can now admire teams from the other side of the globe. it's normal now to see people travelling across continents to see live games (increasing tourism, so not only sport but economic in general). teams now have more visibility, they sell merch, stadium tickets etc. and this result in more audience which means more money for brands such nike, adidas that now are living part of sports providing funds for teams and sponsorships for players and athletes especially those who brings a lot of new customers (cristiano ronaldo, messi, neymar, lebron, curry etc..) and so increasing their sales. it's a domino effect started by a small growth of social media to a big a result of a massive traffic of money. nowadays clubs are richer, players cost more and sports play huge part in a country economy and this is only the tip of the iceberg of how social media affected sport and entertainment. the power of money
