Great explanatory video. The reason cutting out the vocal section works is because it ends on an open vowel. I that syllable were to end on a consonant sound --especially a plosive-- it would sound a lot muddier. I think it's totally acceptable on the open vowel. Sounds great!

I just published my first song and learning to use this. As I wrote in my comment above I first tuned the lead vocal and one harmony with Melodyne and then let Vocalign Ultra to tune the rest of the backing vocals as octaves. I am on M1 Mac, so of course it took time to first play the tracks to the plugin and then bounce in place, but no way I couldn't have got this result fixing everything manually. One of my backing singer was just my neighbor without any experience recording anything but with Vocalign his voice fits the rest perfectly.

True. I bought Vocalign Ultra and used it on my wife's latest song. It's really magical. If you have Melodyne too why bother with ultra?

      It’s, well, vocal aligning
You can run a single take through any harmonizer or octaves for the effect I have been seeing in ultra (the pitch stuff)
But nothing beats vocalign for stacked tracks, without overdoing it otherwise it just loses the natural
Human quality and sounds like a demon barbershop quartet

    • @petrikaivanto

@@gitarman666 I didn't use Vocalign as harmonizer, but tuned first the lead vocal and one harmony vocal with Melodyne and then let Vocalign to do the aligning and the tuning of the other 10+ background tracks (incl. real octave doublings), but of course not too tight to keep it natural sounding. Of course, the most expensive version ReVoice 4 Pro would do everything, but since I already had Melodyne, I didn't want to buy that.

WHY are you worried about that? YOU WANT it to sound like BACKGROUND vocals... Stevie wonder's "with each beat of my heart" for example. Or "prince." OR you align the crap till its spot on and its nothing but a vocoder effort that could replace you with ease..
AND THATS why they DO. STOP trying to make humans sound like Vocoders... and more like Boys2men... the end

You clearly don’t get it, people are allowed to make the art they want, the way they want. You’re like the painter who is angry at the camera being invented, or angry about pitch correction, or angry that guitarists use pedals and not just an acoustic guitar. Make your art and let others make theirs, you’re not forced to do anything to your own stuff.

as an audio person, I would expect you to balance your speaking voice with the music. your speaking voice is very low and the vocal demo is super loud. I would want RUclipsrs to respect our ears more. we don't have a built-in compressor or a vocal rider on youtube. you guys should consider this for next videos since you guys are making money from these videos but all of the watchers are producers who need to take good care of their ears .

Does it also align vocals to tempo in case you record delayed vocals due to high buffer recording ?

@@SuperPoopUnicorn no - your lead vocal needs to be already aligned - you can easily drag any parts back onto the grid and the use Vocalign

Flex Pitch is terrible. I used to use it but over the last 12 months Flex has been totally unusable for professional productions. Actually planning on making a video on that because it is a really big problem.
