    Vocalalign makes life so much easier. It basically makes it so you just need to do everything once

    I use Melodyne and Vocalign Ultra. My experience with Vocalign Ultra: The timing part of it has gotten much better than the earlier versions where you had lots of artefacts. So this has improved vastly. The automatic pitch correction of doubles and harmonies (when the lead has been pitch and timing corrected with Melodyne) however very often leaves terrible artefacts even with the newest version of VU. I often had to repair things with Melodyne. I give it a try with every new track that I work on but still artefacts with VU especially if the singer's voice has lots of non-tonal elements (like in husky/hoarse voices). So I usually end up time and pitch editing the lead in Melodyne, pitch editing the doubles and harmonies in Melodyne and then time align them with Vocalign Ultra. This has worked best for me so far. Maybe the next updates of Vocalign will change it for the better.

      I agree with this observation. I just used this same workflow described initially and also noticed the artifacts. However, the time alignment really speeds up the process.

    Vocalign 5 has saved me hours on hours editing when it comes to time alignment, worth the money for sure. I’m going to have to upgrade to Ultra for the pitch alignment. Great vid!

    Would have loved to hear a couple of the "aligned" takes in solo. Obviously what ultimately matters is what you can hear in the mix, but getting to hear what kind of artifacts came from that aligning process could've given me a better idea of how often they'll be useable without further edits.

I normally used to make the beat then export it and record it in a new project but I decided to change so I'm hoping there's a video where you show how to balance all the elements in the song

    Hi, pop vocals here need advice: vocalign ultra and repitch or revoice 5? I’ve tried revoice before and it was amazing for timing all my backing vocals in once. (Pro tool)
    Recently, I asked around and ppl told me vocalign ultra is better and easier? (nowaday I am in between ableton for composing and protool for vocals)
    anyone working with pop vocals who has tried both, can give me feed backs? (I have M1 mac)

    I downloaded the trial and am currently comparing it to Melodyne. Repitch's interface and tools are sweet, better than Melodyne. However, Repitch changes the tone of the vocal, removing highs / clarity. I tried adding some brightness via EQ to compensate, but it doesn't sound as good as the raw vocal tone or vs Melodyne. Has anyone else noticed that?

SA team very helpful but we haven't got to the bottom of what the issue(s) are sadly.

      This is exactly the question I was hoping would be answered. I find the built-in audio alignment and VariAudio to be pretty efficient.

    So, this is why vocals don't sound like a real Human voice anymore. In music, sometimes the non-perfectness of a voice is what makes it a voice. All the overtones are the thing, though. If you keep removing the overtones you are making the music basically be half computer. It is possible this current vocal adjustment technique is what will kill the current genres at some point.

    • @MakePopMusic
      @MakePopMusic  Год назад +3

      It just depends on what your goal is. If you want vocals that feel separate from each other and all have different tone and inflection, skip the alignment and precise tuning. If you want a big section of 10 vocal tracks that just sound like one big consistent vocal in the mix, tuning and time alignment really helps the lead stay as the focus while the other vocals just supplement it.
      Different vibes for different records.

    • @MakePopMusic
      @MakePopMusic  Год назад +4

      With modern music being very programmed and synth based, most instrumental sections are PERFECTLY in tune, so if vocals even stray a little bit it sounds awful. With live guitars and bass and strings, there is a ton of pitch variation so the vocalist has a little more flexibility.

    • @Surferess
      @Surferess Год назад +2

      @@MakePopMusicI hear you. However, I am a vocalist for 50 years, and the overtones in a person's voice are what make it their voice. It isn't my intention to slam you personally, but rather to state that this is why music doesn't sound truly authentic these days. It's not your fault.

    Repitch looks so ugly. These colors are not so friendly to my eyes especially vocal sessions take too long. These guys picked the worst look for their plugin. And i tried vocalign. And revoice pro. I even paid for it but they were making the vocals too artificial and you could hear it was messing up the quality. After trying and trying i trashed both and decided invest in melodyne. I have been happier ever since guys. Short cuts can be assigned on melodyne and it cuts the time when i work on vocals🙏my time and money i spent on melodyne paying off. I wouldnt invest my time in repitch or revoice or vocalign. Melodyne allows you to see all vocal stacks in one place and edit all and results are soooo natural.

    • @MakePopMusic
      @MakePopMusic  Год назад +1

      I don't mind the GUI at all. I have never liked Melodyne. I don't like the workflow and I kinda hate the sound of it.
