When i saw Carlin and the name Nasr... I was also thinking about Nasr his teammate with Carlin in 2011... Kevin Magnussen! Maybe if his sponsor Jack & Jones continues... Carlin can drive 3 cars?
I was actually at the last bump day in 2019 and my God it was a barn burner. So happy I got to be there at IMS in person and getting to see a David Team vs a Goliath team.
I was there all Saturday and was there Sunday morning but due to the rain delay, had to leave to make my return flight. When Kaiser bumped Alonso, I was cheering at the gate at Indy Airport.
Im gonna say 36 as a safe guess. 6 Andretti, 4 Ganassi, 4 Penske, 3 Rahal, 3 Arrow McLaren, 3 Carpenter, 3 Coyne, 3 Foyt, 2 Carlin, 2 Meyer Shank, 2 Dreyer & Reinbold and 1 Juncos. Hopefully a few more come to light like Top Gun but Ill stick to 36 for now.
David; Two things I'd like to mention. Thing #1. Simona de Silvestro could be an interesting proposition for the Heinricher-Shank entry. She has experience with Heinricher and the speedway, however her Porsche GT3 contract might get in the way, as would her lack of recent IndyCar mileage
What about Sarah Fisher? I know she had run the 500 before, but is she totally retired from racing or is there a possibility of her coming back in that Heinricher ride?
@@edwardott7239 Sarah is completely out of racing herself. Instead she owns 2 rental kart facilities, one in Speedway and a new one in Daytona, as well as owning America’s oldest still operating go kart track, Whiteland Raceway Park. She’s also more interested in watching her two kids race at Whiteland and New Castle.
DeSilvestro is the best female IndyCar/Sports Car/ formula driver out there right now. She'd be the best choice. Katherine Legge hasn't been in an IndyCar for a while either.

Noticed by his absence in your fine report, David, is Jimmy Johnson. I know he hasn't skipped your mind because you've talked a lot about him in the past few weeks or so, and his future in the 2021 500 has not yet been set in stone, but I can't imagine that a competitive ride in the 500 is not on his mind and strongly so. I just have a feeling that somebody is going to figure out a way to give him a competitive car for the 500, and I hope so too. What fan doesn't want to see that?
I think Wilson will race with Andretti in the 500, Pigot will go back to Rahal, Meyer Shank will have the Kathryn Legg, McLaren (my personal favorite) will take Fernando Alonso, Carpenter will have Daly, Coyne will take Ferucci and Groesean, Carlin will take Chilton and Nasr, Dreyer Reinbold will take Hidebrand and Karam, Rick Ware with Davison, Juncos with Kaiser, and Top Gun with no one.
33. All this full-time expansion means that there will be fewer spots left to fill and even fewer teams attempting to fill them, so no Bump Day next year IMO. (I don't even expect Indycar will have a season next year either due to the pandemic and state-wide travel restrictions, but I wouldn't mind getting proven wrong about that.)
I finally watched the Indy 500 this year after they delayed it from Memorial Day weekend to August due to the pandemic. I definitely can't wait for next year's Indy 500 on Memorial Day weekend, Indy 500 in the morning, Coke 600 in the evening to watch on my TV

If Jackie Heinricher does run an Indy Car or 500 effort, I seriously doubt it will be with Meyer/Shank Racing. MSR already said a few weeks back, they are maxed out between their Acura DPi and Indy Car programs for 2021.
What about Buhl-Citrone? They had that decent partnership with RLL with Pigot behind the wheel. All the press of de Costas testing for RLL would lead me to believe Buhl-Citrone could potentially move on their own with Pigot.
I read somewhere that DaCostas has some kind of schedule conflict keeping him from the 500. So it will probably be Pigot with Buhl-Citrone at least for the 500. Wouldn't be surprised to see Dakota in a couple of the other races though.
I don’t follow indy-car very closely but why isn’t Johnson running the 500? You’d think that would be a race he would want to run having been a 7-time champion and winning the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400. One last goal he could accomplish would be wining the Indy 500....far be it from me to tell Jimmie what to do though.
Jimmie has said he’s not interesting in running ovals. Tony Kanaan will drive the 48 car at all the ovals and Jimmie will run all the road and street courses.
