I would never forget how I was treated by a customs official at Calgary airport when I first landed as a permanent resident. He was the definition of a s-hole. Definitely not the experience anyone should have to go through on their first trip to Canada. He kept saying I have too much stuff - Duh, I am moving to a new country what did you expect? On the brighter side, the customs at Vancouver were awesome.

Sad but true. What upsets me is that this is largely a North American issue. Only US and Canadian border security act like this. Everywhere else in the world it is much more pleasant to arrive at the border.
