Thank You video is a big help. I just bought the Cube Orange, Hearlink, $150 GPS Here 2, and building my quadcopter. I watch all your videos and learn. Frisco, TX
Always helpful.... Great video all time on what we need.
Happy flying. ✈️
Great videos, right to the point and detailed. Cheers from NJ!
Lee this is fantastic for someone like me , just a quick question- the entire project with absolutely everything you presented here ,where can someone get a price ,please 👍👏
3dxr is where I would start... Best of luck
Thanks for this useful video. 👍👍👍👍
Damn you painless how is it we keep putting the same things together at the same time. I blame Ben ;).
However yours are always better my friend ;). Been working on a batch of 8 go live for about 2 months, first few soon.
Anyhoo always outstanding content and hope your staying safe and well in the madness.
Ian.
You too Ian, best of luck with the builds... Happy flying
Thank you for this series!!!
Hi,
Great series, some basic questions:
1. I have tmotor air20A esc, do you recommend using dshot or going on normal mode?
2. I have pix32-V5 and the red B/E red light on the FMU section is blinking, what does that mean?
3. The connectors that comes from the esc to the pixhawk should be connected where the black wire is on the top or bottom?
Thank you
Those questions will be specific for that flight controller and I have not used one here so don't know. There is some good detail in the Ardupilot documentation that you've probably already seen - ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-holybro-pix32v5.html
Best of luck with it..
Hello great video. I seem to be having an issue where not all of my motors are stopping at minimum throttle. At minimum throttle two motors running and two motors come to a stop. Any idea on how to fix that?.
You could try recalibrating the ESCs or drop the low throttle slightly ardupilot.org/copter/docs/set-motor-range.html
Hello, great video Painless360! One thing though, I am having trouble calibrating my ESCs. They are Turnigy Plush 30a. I am using a Pixhawk 4 running ArduCopter on Mission Planner. I followed your method of ESC calibration, but no luck. I get no confirmation tones on the ESCs when I bring the throttle down on my Taranis. The Pixhawk just keeps on blinking red green and blue and the motors keep doing their short "beep" over and over again. Please help if possible. Thank you.
@SHeorte Benjumea Hi, I actually fixed my issue. Turns out I had the wiring incorrect between the Pixhawk 4 and the Power Module.
Which PDB did you use..? I’m looking for a nice compact one like yours. I’m in the US
It came with the kit- www.3dxr.co.uk/product/hexsoon-edu450-frame-kit-with-motors-esc-and-pdb/
@@Painless360 Lemme know what PDB you go with i need one myself my brotha
Hello, which flight controller do you recommend? Pixhawk 4 Vs Cube?

Doing your setup you did a tune using your Quad's Reference Frame using MP, the frame i'm using is not found on the list, is there another way to tune b4 using in flight auto tune mode, following the sets in the video to complete the config and install steps, I tried a power check and all seemed good but when I tired to apply enough power for a lift off the quad would lift the nose more than the rear or more to the right than to the left. would using Mission Planner to do a auto take off help tune the quad.
Hello painless360
I recently finished assembling a holybro X500 with pixhawk 4 ardupilot controller and after setting it up, and after looking for months, I can't find the origin of my problem.
In flight the drone continuously rotates on itself like a top...
Do you have any idea where it could come from?
Thank you very much and thank you for your very interesting videos.
If you mean that it yaws uncontrollably then it sounds like one or more of the motors is spinning in the wrong direction.. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 Thanks very much
I wanted the propellers to turn in reverse props so that would be causing me problems?
Probably. Best of luck!
Very quick question - is hiding escs in arms won't cause it to slightly overheat with more load? Would it not be better to keep them outside? I know it kind of doesn't fit on this frame. What are your thoughts about it?
Thanks,
Pawel
If you're not pushing the ESCs and they are well chosen it's not an issue. Planes put their ESCs inside all the time.. Happy flying
@@Painless360 Thank you for prompt response :) happy flying
I connect jetson nano with pixhawk cube 5v gnd tx and rx pins. I connect jetson with cube. fan works but jetson nano led diode does not light.
I've not used one of those here. I'd check there is power and it's correctly connected... Best of luck with it
how should i have to calibrate the ESCs with my herelink controller? Because the throttle stick has the spring inside
Hi Lee, does ArduCopter have Rate profiles that can be adjusted similar to Betaflight? I have a Traxxas Aton that runs on ArduCopter and includes an acro mode (Expert mode)..... enjoying your videos and learning a lot, thanks.
Kinda - ardupilot.org/copter/docs/tuning.html
Great info. Where do I get the RFD 900x cradle?
I got everything from 3DXR here in the UK..
that is a beauty of a kwad lee.as allways great tutorial.stay safe my friend
You too buddy..
@@Painless360 thankyou
Hi Lee, big fan of your wonderful videos, thanks for your wonderful work! For ESC Calibration, I noticed that you lowered the throttle after 4 beeps. Should you not have lowered the throttle after 3 beeps, given that you are using 3s Lipo? (I saw that on MP HUD, the battery voltage showed 12.56 which means you are using 3S battery). Please advise.
Check the manual for the ESCs you have as they all seem to have different beeps.. Happy flying
@@Painless360 - Hi Lee, gold advice again. And you beat me to it :-) I have almost the same hardware as you, except the frame. The documentation actually showed that there should be 4 beeps after which the throttle must be lowered. Thanks very kindly!
Hi. Great video. Question? After arming pixhawk, when throttling up not all motors turn at the same time. Others come on a second later. Is this normal for hexacopter
Not ideal. I'd recalibrate the ESCs. Best of luck
I would like to check with you on a issue i am having with the cube orange/ mission planner to see if you can lend some advice , You have be kind enough this far so Thanks you . I have everything working on the cube orange with the mission planner , compass, and GPS and when i connect everything is connected to mission planner but when i got to the part to calibrate the ESC the drop down for ESC Type was blank it would not drop down so i can chose options I have currently using the flame ESC can you give me any advice
Thanks for your help
I've not seen that. You don't mention the version of Ardupilot so I'd upgrade to the latest version and see if that helps. If not then you can raise a bug report with the developers to fix it. That would be my first step in trying to resolve it..
Great!! very helpful!!! just a little question... where can i buy the drone you are using in this video?
3DXR for that Hexoon frame. Check out the links in the description.. Best of luck
Great video on ARDUPILOT. I have a AR wing with a matek 411wse and I have INAV on it but is ARDUPILOT better. And last I have a Beitian BN-220 GPS and when I installed it I didn't see a arrow to show me what direction to install it, or on this one does it matter. I have it installed on the wing and it is glued in.
It does. See my Arduplane build.. Best of luck!
I have been watching all year videos, it was the only way I could ever get it to work. Just return to home on failsafe and auto launch to get it to 100% Thanks again for everything
Hi Lee, I have a 2M Opterra with a head tracking camera and I want to add a stabilization package that will include auto launch, circle, return to home and auto landing. Which instructional videos of yours will walk me through the setup process. I imagine iNav might fit the bill. Can you recommend the bits and pieces I'll need? Tx - Frsky, Rx - X8R. Thanks.
See my iNav Bixler Build using a BrainFPV flight controller where I did that... Happy flying
@@Painless360 I assume iNav 2.5 is okay?
I don't understand the difference between the normal Pixhawk for 70 bucks and the Cube versions for 200.
I'm going to build a model with Pixhawk 4 and RPi as a computer.
Which PX4 model should I choose?
What is the general configuration like, the PX4 soft is installed on the PX4 and the Ardupilot on the RPi? I can't find this information anywhere. Only construction tutorials.
The detail is out there and not too tricky to find with a Google search discuss.cubepilot.org/t/why-are-we-called-the-cube-and-not-pixhawk/1863 I've also covered it on the channel too.. Happy flying
Nothing , no difference, the only thing is the plug ins. and using a frsky rx in SBUS will cause the drone to fly away.
why didnt you directly solder the battery into the PDB and then run a cable from the PDB to power the PIXhawk ?
cause i think the power module is unnecessary
If the PDB did the same power and monitoring as the power module it would be..
Hi, my ESC are BLHeli 32 35A DSHOT1200, do you recommend selecting DSHOT150? or DSHOT1200 in the ESC setting in mission planner?.
Please see the video. I cover the latest from the wiki on that topic specifically.. Dshot150 is the highest currently recommended. Happy flying
Hey Great Video thanks for the information. Do you connect the ESC to the pixhawk or do you connect them to the PDB. Thanks
All covered in the series, best of luck!
@@Painless360 Thanks but I have the original pixhawk so do you have any suggestions on which pdb should I use with the original one. We have a highschool Drone Team and We want to use Pixhawk as a flight controller and I wanted to know more about the power systems
I hope you answer Thanks
You only need something basic to get the power to the motors from the battery. you can connect the power module between the battery and PDB as I do here - no difference..
Hello. I've been following your videos on my s500 assenbly and it's been very helpfull as i'm strugling with read due to a short sight problem. yesterday i tried to fly the "animal" for the first time and after many attenpts i managed to discover that motor nr 1 is spinning slower than tne other 3.

pixhawk cube and all settings accordingly to your videos.
what the heck can be wrong? i calibrated the escs 1000s of times already and nothing...
any udeful tip?
Thanks and keep the good work!
In those cases I calibrate the ESCs one at a time.. Best of luck!
Hi can you explain how to setup Pixhawk cube for a VTOL quadplane. I think there's no any tutorial here on RUclips. Also how to setup a throttle with spring centered throttle like in herelink controller

hi,

Yes, for ardupilot and PX4..
hi Can you do a video how to control servo motor with cube orange using herelink radio?
There isn't anything special about using the Herelink. See my video on channel forwarding and Pixhawk setup... Happy flying
Hello, May I ask what firmware file is required for the orange cube? Is it the .hex file associated to the orange cube?
I know it should be the latest or 4.0 or better, I'm just not sure if its the hex file
Mission Planner sorts all that out for you. Check out the Pixhawk 2020 series for all the steps I use to get a Pixhawk setup.. Happy flying
@@Painless360 ...thank you sir
What kind of camera is compatible with the PixHawk
Any FPV camera should work but the PixHawk isn't designed for FPV so you need an extra board - see the video on it in my PixHawk 2020 series..
There is no connection between the dronekit and the orange cube I think this is a big problem
My ESCs have 3 wires but yours have 2, will that make a difference?
That depends on what wires you are talking about. If you mean the GND and signal wires that come from the ESC to the FC, that's fine... Happy flying
I'm currently connecting 3 wires to the flight controller, the ground wire (black), the signal wire (white), and the positive (red)wire as well
Will this make an issue if I want to test the motors?
See my build videos. Not connecting the red wire to the ESC shouldn't matter... Happy flying

См. ardupilot.org/copter/docs/set-motor-range.html

Hi Mr Painless360, Great information. I am still getting stuck on the simpler setups. I have the issue: I am running Cube PixHawkPX2, Raspberry pi tied to Telem2 and running Mission Planner Software ArduPilot, I. Attempting to run the maxproxy.py --master=/dev/serial0 --baudrate 115200 --aircraft MyCopter I get: Waiting for hearbeat from /dev/serial0 and finally get: MAV> Link 1 down I also found the "Mission Planner for Serial0=2". I modified this to be 1 for MAV Link …but still does not work. Something is connected to MAV Link 1. Is there a way to find this out?
I've not used a raspberry Pi with a Pixhawk. I've no idea about the setup. I'd make sure that it works as per the series first. Best of luck
