My YJ died today. 94”…suddenly the clutch lost pressure and no more gear changes. Gear does change when switched off, but not when engine is on. Any thoughts? Thanks!
When you compressed the Slave cylinder you pushed the air out into the master cylinder. When you released the slave, it filled the slave with fluid. Basically you bleed the air out of the system.
@@ujayet The only thing I can think of is that there is something in the way. When we did our transfer case drop and had to trim the floor. If nothing is in the way you may have an issue with your transmission. We have over 100K on this Jeep and it now sometimes pops out of 5th gear.
You may have just gotten a little air in the hydraulics and it just had to be worked out. You’ll probably eventually need to replace them. Make sure that if you do replace them you get a pre bled kit that all you have to do is bolt it in
Thanks for the advice, and on this kit, does it bolt at the slave cylinder? I thought you would bleed the clutch just like you would brakes, but like I said, this is my first time to work on a vehicle with a clutch.
Chris Does What you can do it that way but sometimes you may be there an hour trying to bleed it. If you get the prebled kit you just unbolt it from the trans and unbolt the reservoir all in one and the new one with just bolt up in place and it’s worth the extra $10 or however much extra it cost
Agree! Air in the clutch hydraulics. Sounds like you "reverse-bled" the system when you pushed the plunger back in (and got your head wet), and then you/your son must of added fluid prior to pushing the peddle in, and getting even more air in the system. Not sure, but that is what it sounds like to me.
We just had our transmission rebuilt and put it in, see that video. If your transmission is slipping out of gear it cold be caused by low or contaminated fluid, worn synchronizers inside the transmission, or improperly adjusted shift linkage
slipping in high gears, at highway or near highway speeds, is precisely where plain old worn clutch is first noticed. Intuition is that you would first notice it in low gears, from a stop, but in fact it first shows in high gears. You have classic symptom of basic worn clutch
Really hoping it just got bound. I thought it may have been the clutch fork, and thanks so much for your input. I reached out cause I know you do so much automotive stuff on your channel and you have a lot of good advice.
I'm having the same problem on my 03 Jeep Wrangler tj when I shift it to a gear or just driving down the road the rpm will shoot up like someone pushing in the clutch
We enjoyed your time with pleasure. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for posting. I have looked at and read many post. Searched for over a year. You have described my YJ problem. Thanks again.
Thank you for watching! Update, replace clutch slave and master cylinder: ruclips.net/video/j4ESmdy9ZZc/видео.html

@@ChrisDoesWhat thanks so much! On it 💪🏽

There would still be air in the line.
Can I do that to my 04 Jeep Liberty Columbia Edition 5 speed?
The transmission in is probably a ax5 or ax15 depending on engine. The sell a system on Amazon for your year.
I couldn't get it in the first gear is where would you recommend to look into first?
Can you get it in other gears?
@@ChrisDoesWhat yes other gears is ok.

Well if the problem comes back I may give this product a try, I know I will be replacing the slave cylinder just for good measure.

Don't replace it if it works ,never fix anything that isn't broken
It's slipping but just in high gear for now I need help !!!!!!

Yep, I miss read that. You are right, that sounds like a clutch. It should also have a hot smell when stopped. Maybe even a burnt clutch smell.
Thanks Chris, started having the same issue this morning and put some fluid and it worked after 👍
Awesome
My 89 has been fine until last week Now it sometimes won’t engage when driving but is fine when not moving.
Thank you for watching! Sounds like the same thing, this was fine when not moving, was a problem when you wanted to.
Chris Does What I filled up clutch fluid gonna let gravity bleed it for a few days see if that helps it so far no luck :(
If you have air in the line your going to have to bleed it. Just like doing brakes.
@@canadianswordfight4609 Did it help?? :)
Could be a bad clutch fork. Might even have a bad pressure plate. If it's not engaging something might be getting bound up
Really hoping it just got bound. I thought it may have been the clutch fork, and thanks so much for your input. I reached out cause I know you do so much automotive stuff on your channel and you have a lot of good advice.
well thank you sir it's not a problem. always try to help where i can.
Its because there was air in the line because he let the fluid get too low it happened to my jeep before.
Sir in the system will cause the it not to engage the clutch. Our issue was the rod was worn and allowed it to get hung in the engaged position.
You should drain it completely next and put new fluid in.
We had a replacement on order when this video was made, link in description for that.
Master or slave?
The issue was the slave, the kit replaces both.
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!

I did have to replace the clutch slave and master cylinder in this video. ruclips.net/video/j4ESmdy9ZZc/видео.html
Thanks for the vid bro
Glad it helped, we did have to replace the master and slave cylinder in a later video. ruclips.net/video/j4ESmdy9ZZc/видео.html
Now your hair will grow back with the dose of hydraulic fluid...lol!
LOL, really hope so, hair on my head is starting to become a scarce resource.
More like 26 yr old... 16 would be a 2004... That looks like a YJ.. 87-95.
Yes it is a 94, did we mess up in the video oops lol
He said this is a 16 year olds CAR
Florida man does a master I mean clutch cylinder uh uh uh cant tell you why it is working.
So enlightened me with your knowledge
