Like his bezzie Lee, he's now pro censorship. Lee is worse though. Remember the anti censorship documentary Lee did when Christian protestors managed to censor his "Jerry Springer The Opera"? He did a full documentary about censorship being bad. He was fully anti-censorship and pro free-speech, and yet.... only a month ago, he decided to protest Spotify into censoring Joe Rogan *in the EXACT same way that he complained about in that documentary!!*
      What. The. Fu*k?!

In the light of the count dankula case where context is irrelevant might all of this be deemed offensive by someone somewhere remembering no one need have complained? In which case all we need to know is was this routine performed in Scotland and was it transmitted by electronic media.

i see you don`t do irony
there`s no hope if you can`t get that Herring is with you - he`s not a racist - he`s a west country middle class intellectual, whereas i`m a cockney scumbag college type, but he`s not a racist
i can see what you mean - i saw this show live twice, and certain words here are offensive - he`s offensive, he tries to be offensive
he`s confronting modern racism that, as i`m sure yr aware, is still alive and well - in fact, it`s worse now than it was in the mid 1980s - and perhaps that`s the point - he, like myself, remembers when it was so
it was bad before the 1980s - and it`s getting bad again what with UKIP and so on
check out my channel if you want - i ain`t no racist - i`ve been bricked on ANL demos - i`ve been on anti nazi demos in Millwall
Herring is confronting certain attitudes that
    1, are still around
2 and more importantly, are stoked by polititians and the like - and they are most certainly racist - as are celebs often - as the Carol Thatcher, daughter of a former Tory PM, shows clearly

Their core principle was stated as not wanting to be ruled by unelected officials, but they also wanted to give more power back to the royal family, the House of Lords and the Church of England, so clearly the only problem they have with being ruled by unelected officials is where those officials were born. In other words, they are racist by their own official manifesto statements of intent.

    • @GaryMcCaffrey
      @GaryMcCaffrey 2 года назад

@@MrMyers758 I can't find anything on UKIP wanting to give more power to the Royals, HoL or CoE, where did you get that from? Can you direct me to a source? I've never heard of it, and in searching, I found no mention of anything like it, I read their wikipedia and searched Google, nothing.
Saying that, I wouldn't now make that same statement I made 5 years ago, not because I think UKIP are racist, I still don't have any reason to believe they are. I just don't want to say anything like that as an absolute, as an entities politics can change.
I used to think UKIP were racist, but honestly, that was because I used to not think about whether that was true or not, I just accepted what I heard in the wind.
Then I moved abroad, away from the western culture altogether, and started paying more attention to UK politics, but from a distance. And I noticed that UKIPs policies of national self-interest are just how most countries in the world operate.
Well, I can only really speak about East or Southeast Asia, but I've lived in 3 non-western countries now, and I respect their policies of nationalist self-interest.
I am not one of them, I can never be one of them, and my presence in someone else's country is contingent on continually meeting a set of expectations set out by the laws of that country.
I'm not saying I think the UK should be more like that, I'm saying other countries make UKIP look tame, and I don't consider them racist. I just consider them self-interested.
But, I'd love to get a source on UKIP supporting giving more power to Royals, HoL or CoE.

Chubby Brown and Bernard Manning's audiences laughed because they agreed with the sentiments of the jokes, which were inherently racist. It might seem like a suitable defense to say "it was only a joke", but jokes have certain contexts and certain pretexts, which majority demographics have always denied any responsibility for. It's all very easy for a white guy to say "it's only comedy" when telling a racist joke. The structure of the joke isn't affecting him negatively.

It's that uncomfortable almost-there mixture of some clever stuff and some dumb reaction-prying stuff. He does the one thing and then he also uses that one thing to get away with doing the other thing at the same time - how annoyingly fence-hopping. I found it a bit clever. Can't say I found it that enjoyable. It's mostly the ranty nonsense that puts me off, honestly. When people fall into that thing of just saying a big bunch of nasty stuff in a row in order to elicit a response out of awkward sorta-unexpectedness. That to me is a bit crap. The thing about criticizing liberal guilt ways, there's something to that. The "ooh, I said word X, word Y and word Z aren't I edgy" stuff... that's low grade garbage. I mean to make the obvious comparison, I much prefer Stewart Lee, lot more consistent in general and enjoyable for how much he generally avoids that trap but he does nevertheless fall into it too sometimes and it kinda pisses me off a bit that type of lazy fallback. Not saying it's an easy job, I couldn't do it. But doesn't make shit into gold just because it's hard shit. It's still shit.
What's most annoying is there's a good idea in here, it just needs the fat cut out from around it, and to take it further instead of just resting on it. Maybe the rest of the show does that, quite possible since this is only a clip. But at least from the perspective of this clip in isolation... annoying, yeah.

So what is he? A comic exploiting social engineering or a social engineer exploiting comedy? As Bernard Manning consistently declared, "Never take comedy seriously." Compare the laughter Manning gets with that of Chubby Brown whose audience laughter like the laughter here has an element of that contrived laughter born out of comical correctness based upon a opinion rather than humour.

Which is why they have to obscure any and all statistics as they relate to race (the obvious being crime statistics). Worse, I recently looked into specific types of crime, not just violent crime, specific crimes like "home invasion murders" and "murders of single parent women in home invasions" - turns out it's all a specific group of people, by a factor way above 9/10 (it's about 30/31).
The death of Colin Flaherty should have seen a huge push of his works into this stuff, especially considering how no one ever refuted him and his work was endorsed by the likes of Thomas Sowell.
But alas, all we can ever hope for is the MSM saying (falsely) that serial killers and school shooters are "all white"
      ...
