FORD MYSTERY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WON'T GO AWAY!

- Опубликовано: 30 сен 2024
- In today's video we take a look at a 2015 Ford F-150 with a 5.0l V8 engine. The vehicle has a check engine light that can not be cleared. The shop replaced the crank position sensor and number 7 ignition coil, but did not properly execute the misfire monitor neutral profile correction. The trouble code P0315 "crankshaft position system variation not learned" was stored in the PCM and could not be cleared. Follow along as I show you how this procedure is done.

Thanks for the quick video. I promise I paid attention not like your sidekick who looked like he was about to gouge his eyes out. 🤣🤣🤣
I had to edit out all the times he asked me “are we done yet?” Lol
Do see mi
❤
I know your videos are going to help a lot of people. Blessings for your son and the entire family. 👍
Thank you once again!
As a former computer service technician I am so impressed at your troubleshooting skills. Newly subbed.
I have a 2016 Transit with 3.5L eco boost V-6. I got a misfire code for cyl 6. Replaced plug and coil on that cylinder. Then tried disconnecting battery for a few hours. Took both leads and held them together. Check engine light still won't go off. Can I do this procedure myself without an expensive scan tool?
It’s simple really, I see a new Advance Level Automotive video, I hit like.
I wish these machines could do the relearn procedure on their own, after a battery removal or a startup where the relearn is necessary. It shouldn't require participation of a human.
But then, the average guy would miss the option of paying a couple hundred dollars to the dealer to make the light go away.
It would be too easy lol
Hey, hands off my kids’ college fund bro! 😆
I am Learning how to navigate through different menu/screens from your channel. This is where most mechanics lack, including myself, Nice Video
I'm gonna pass this on to my former coworkers. I don't own a Ford now, but I'll save for later
How are you liking that new Thinktool? I'm considering pulling the trigger on one, but would like to hear from fellow techs who have had hands-on experience with it. Great video as always, hope you are doing well!
Very interested too
I’m loving it so far. I would definitely recommend it. It’s probably the best bang for your buck as far as scan tools go.
that is so cool that you take your son with you so you can watch what you're doing and learn how to do the same stuff you're doing when he gets older blessings to you and your family I love your videos
Your knowledge never fails to impress me
Thanks for the info, AND also going to thru the menus slow enough so we can read what you are selecting. This really helps. Thanks again.
Your son looked about as bored as could be... Until the end! Great video thanks!😀
I admire your skills as a troubleshooter, but being a "mechanic" nowadays, is just not the satisfying job it used to be. Guys are more electricians and diagnosticians than anything else. Too much electronics for my taste. No offense meant to you, a great video.
Tell your son hello. Thank you for being still while your dad helped a lot of DIYers. Dad he deserves an ice cream after his favorite food stop.
I like the short videos too, but miss the detailed ones as well :)
I’ve got a few case studies coming soon! Thanks for watching!
Good to see your son with you that how I learned to love working on car
Hey what up hoping your still reading your comments.
Question is , Is there a cheaper scan tool i can buy that can do this ?
Currently have p0451 and wont clear stays on even after i clear .
Truck is running back to normal after replacing a few things i did along the way but code wont clear .
Replaced mof spark plugs canister purge valve a throttle bottle few other things i believe this is what need to be done next . Tried 4 mechanics had to find the problem myself .
Please if see this let me know just looking for a more affordable route .
i am looking at a 2015 ford 3.7, 103000 miles with a CEL on. should i be concerned that it may be a major fix like timing chain? it runs good
I had that code pop up on my 2018. It said all the same things you said. But that was not it. The plug under the front of the truck became disconnected. Simple fix. When you go looking for the most complicated stuff on an engine but miss the obvious.
This applies to Chevy/GM vehicles as well.
Yes it does!
Anyone know of any other scan tools that perform this function
Also the amazon link is for 2021 would this work on a 2022
Hi, good job by boss and lov baby boy ,Habib Auto from Ghana Accra
Thanks for that verry usefull information.
Thanks for sharing Eric. How do you like that new think diag. scanner. I bought the one you recommended awhile back that I can use on my iPad is this scanner much different ? I see a few you tubers using it. Thanks for sharing and stay safe and well Artie 😊
Thinktool Pro comes with full software and 2 years free update.
8 inch touch screen and works more faster
Thanks Great job
Do I need to do this when changing cam pos sensor on a 2003 Fire Ranger?
What scanner tool model is that? And price?
Did you get Scotty to do the thumbnail LOL 😆
Shhh! Don’t let my secret out lol
Man I need to take my vehicle to you.
That's all good if you have one of those scan tools!
Interesting Ford procedure! I own a low mileage 2013 f150 5.0L. (30,000 miles) This may be of use one day!
Thanx for the great tip/reminder Eric...❣️
On a side note: techs should throw away their scan tools, oscilloscopes, gas analyzers, sensor simulators, leak detectors, smoke machines, battery/alternator testers, multimeters, etc BECAUSE the ad for "FIXD" says it can DIAGNOSE your car's issue...😁
That ad gets me every time lol
Great videos man 🧍♂️ thanks tham
Too many electronic headaches with thus new cars
Hi, apologies in advance: This question is not relevant to this specific video, however I don't seen any other videos that actually fit my question. My question is this: I have a 2016 F150 XLT that has a standard key (not push button) start. I am trying to find out whether there is a wire anywhere in the harness that will tell me when the factory alarm system is armed--that is, is there a wire anywhere that will be in one state when the alarm is on and another state when it is off, or is it all done through the CAN system? Thank you.
Excellent info, thanks!
Thanks for the info
No problem. Thanks again for watching!
How could somebody not understand that you need to do a crankshaft position relearn if it tells you you need to do it the thing is telling you what the problem is I don't see any code that says true expensive parts at it
I believe that code was set because they attempted to do the relearn, but did not complete it properly. So they managed to clear the original profile, but failed to learn a new one.
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO That would make sense thank you
For those of us who are use to do our own repairs it’s getting harder and harder. Thanks for the videos
So I was just driving from Anaheim to Vegas and I was driving 80 and switched into eco mode and my truck started acting funny ! And gears were dropping in and out and the wrench symbol came on then ! About 40 miles later I stopped the truck and waited ten mins started it again and wrench went away but check engine light came on ! Truck drove fine but light did not go away !? Thoughts please ? Keep in mind it’s was 112f outside and truck was running for like 5 hours before this happened
This must be on 04-05 newer year vehicles with a Can-Bus PCM-ECU I
I have not run across this issue with older computers But this is good to know how this P0315 code can delay repairs.
Thanks for the quick video, good info!
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Do you have any familiarity with the following and how I can avoid said issues on a 2015 6.7L F350?
1. Death wobble/steering oscillation
2. EGR, DPF and HPOP failure
Thanks!
I got the check engine light but on a 2016 Ford Edge I replaced the canister as it showed it was bad but now it comes back and goes away wtf man it’s got the 2.0 eco boost can you point me to the problem that might be happening any help will be greatly appreciate bro
Your link for THINKCAR THINKTOOL PRO Scan Tool is not working.
Some mechanics won't invest in themselves through continued education. I know of transmission shops that attend all sorts of educational classes just to keep up with the basics of their trade. Without those, they are lost and cannot rebuild and correctly get an electronically controlled transmission if their life depended on it.
Same goes with electronically controlled vehicles. I've heard that Mercedes and Chrysler vehicles have the most electronic modules of any make and they all depend on each other which means if one goes bad, good luck finding out which one is responsible as they are all tied to each other. EDUCATION is a requirement every year you are a mechanic who deals with many vehicle makes and the customers who have them in need of professional help, done right the first time.
I like these short and sweet videos!
Thanks! I’m trying to mix it up a little bit.
I more like the long complicated fixing videos.
Good job on training your son he's a good listener 👍
He’s not interested right now. Hopefully when he gets older.
Great video. Does this work for the Camshaft Sensor replacement for a 2008 F-150?
How did you get the ThinkTool.?
They sent it to me to try it out. I’m very impressed. Definitely the best bang for your buck out there right now.
Great video. Tell junior I've subscribed thanks for that info .
Man i wish i had a technician like you up here in vegas. Dealer has 2 weeks with my suv saturn vue hybrid and no answer yet. Lazy techs careless dealership
Great info, question, can this procedure be performed using forscan?
Wow!!! that was great. I have the same problem I follow your advice.
Thank you very much
I watched a couple of your Vids. Great info . I need a new Scanner. LOL
Overworked your lil apprentice by the looks haha good clip mate 👍👍
Check engine light on since new, fixing to dynamite 🧨 black ops!
Hey nice work Will this work on turbo boost models / other engines. Thank you
Thanks 🙏🏼 for Sharing your Videos.!! They help a lot
That kind of seems like a design flaw to me in that the vehicle computer is not designed to automatically place at the forefront a call for the relearn process to be initiated.
Thank You , what scan tool are you using , the links to amazon and your store are not working . thanks
Thanks for sharing Eric... Cheers.
Thanks! Cheers to you as well!
Dude you are the check engine wizard
Thanks!
thanks for the info man
Thanks for watching!
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO the cam and crank relearn goes by different names ford calls it misfire monitor ?
I been getting a P2106 took it to 3 mechanics and no solve
Does this info also pertain to the ‘09-‘14 models as well?
So will you need this scan tool for that procedure? Thx
Thank you very much. This is exactly what my car needed.
Hey brother great and informative video. I have a question bro
I have a 2019 f150 and my check engine light is on and all the scanner is saying that “O2 sensor wire “ that’s all it says I have replaced the O2 sensor Brand new but still comes back . Any suggestions!?
Thanks for ur time man much appreciated
What code?
Oh ok ✅ ❤
would it be the same for some gmc trucks ??
Excellent information as always, thank you.
Thanks for the info and vid. Also hello to lil E.
Yeah I've learned when doing these re-learns is that u have to follow the directions accurately👍if it says temp has to be at 180* guess what that temp better be at 180*😉
Great tip! Thanks!
Awesome video and very helpful as well
That scan tool is badass! If a tech at Ford couldn’t figure out not even with the IDS I don’t think he’s a tech 😅 haha love your content man 💯
Awesome video as usual.
Thanks again for watching!
Ok
Awesome video ! Thank you
Also if you do a time belt or chain replacement not only on Ford vehicles but most manufacturers will have a relearn
Great tip!
Great video, had to get my own!
Awesome content. Thank you
Nice job ....thanks in advance.
Thanks bro love your channel
Don’t trust mechanics!
thanks so much 🙏 💓 ☺ 💗 💖
Great video!!!
Thank you!
What years does this apply to?
If you get a dodge truck with random misfire codes this is a good place to start as well.
Great tip!
A mini me, he is adorable!
Erick, AWESOME wakeup this morning and saw u download made my coffee and i sad this should be good to watch thanks brother.
Thanks once again for always watching!
