Jogge Sundqvist (Sloyd in Wood) says that glued up boards will eventually crack when subjected to repeated douses with moisture (why he argues cutting boards should be made from one piece of wood, not glued up strips). That table top appears to have been wet on many an occasion, hence the split. I like your doweling technique, starting with a small drill bit for better control, finally working up to the final size bit that matches the dowel (Still, save up for that Festool Domino anyway, an awesome, but pricey, time saver). That finish looks very nice. Nice job.
I really like your choices of work 👍. Your skills and creativity are fab, and the results are always lovely and impressive. Well done, keep it up, and keep progressing 👏👏👏. New Sub here for your efforts sister 👉👉👉. Thank you 🙏. 😎

Thanks for the detailed comment))
Would a heat gun have helped in softening the old glue?
Maybe, but it is more often used to remove old varnish and paint))
