- The preservation of Robertson's Store in Greasy Hollow, Tennessee has started with removing overgrown bushes, hedges, thickets, and tree limbs. Work on the roof and outhouse will be coming up next.

If you would like to send a check, all the Money goes to buy things needed for the store's Preservation. Checks are to be made out to "Frances Murphy". You will mail the check to my address; this keeps 2 people accountable and knowing how much money comes in.
I will acknowledge every donation in one of the videos so we can say thanks.

Back in the day. Before I was a restaurant salesman, I was a Pepsi Route Driver. And buildings like this that put 3-4 vending machines out front got a ton of vending biz. Look at that as a revenue stream for this property.
Need a bigger tractor to bush hogge
Looking good buddy Ralph would be proud
You sure have done an awesome job at this place.Just wish Ralph was around around two watch you
I know you are tired.God bless you for all your hard work.See you next time…
Well you are sure working hard. Bless you for keeping this place alive and restoring it and sharing all the beautiful history and memories with us all. I just got back from my visit of Eastern TN and the Smoky Mountains and Asheville at the Biltmore. I can say this is the most beautiful area I have ever seen. You are blessed to be able to enjoy God's given beauty daily that He has given us. Be blessed and stay safe too!
This old general store will look really nice when it is all finished
and cleaned up, can't wait to see it take care and Thank You.🇺🇲🇺🇲
Hello there John. It is always so good to see you. I really appreciate everything you do for this old general store that belonged to Ralph Robertson. Your hard work and dedication is outstanding 💪👍 and also Ralph would be so proud of you. Enjoy your day and take care
A labor of love with the emphasis on LABOR🤪
It's a step in the right direction. Wish I could help John . I do not get poison ivy. But what you did get cleaned up looked great. The old out house does not really need a pit anymore so raise it up on some treated timber. new floor to make it safe if some one does enter. plant flowers around it . Look forward to more on the this old historic Icon . Paul from east central Indiana
Make a go fund me.. labor , cash or items for the store !! If I was closer I would be there with my lawn equipment helping . Great job John . 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I thought of a GoFundMe too!
You need a brush blade for the weed eater . Those things would make short work of that jungle
My heritage is rooted in east Tennessee, Jonesborough. I haven't heard anyone say "wasper" in many years. I smiled remembering my Granny and Aunts and all the old timey words and phrases I heard growing up. Restoring this old store is such a good project. I remember many country stores where I would get my Mr. Pibb and Moon Pie. :)
Good job. Hard work. Saying prayers you stay Poison Ivy free!
John you are a true servant.I know Mr.Robertson is looking down from Heaven and is so proud. What an awesome job u are doing,.The Grounds are looking good.Hope folks living close by will volunteer to help you.John you take care of yourself
And please wear gloves .Greasy Hollow. Is on my bucket list and would like to meet you.Blessings Your Okie fan Gina
Once you clear out the old barbed wire, maybe one of the neighbors has got a tractor with a bush hog (rotary cutter) implement that he or she would be willing to run through the brush, there. That would make pretty quick work of the "snaky" undergrowth!
John, i absolutely love what you do. Im 48 and feel much older when it comes to tha past. I volunteer at a school house from 1860ish about a mile from me that was built by the family who settled around 900+ acres where i currently live. A few years ago a few old oak trees fell on the roof. Its back together and even used the wood from the trees that caused the damage! Mark Prarie Historical Society. Id love for you to check it the website. We're in Oregon so i know yall wont be out here sny time soon, but if and when you do, me and some other folks would love to dhake your hand and thank you gor for preserving and passing on history. God bless you and yours John.
People who leave critical comnents need to offer help, not criticism. God bless you John! Please be careful!
A lot of work but it will be worth it
It's looking Great for the First day!!! You're a Special Man doing what you're doing to help them!!! It's going to be a Great Museum!!! Honoring the Family!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Can't wait!
Many hands make a light work. Maybe you could organize a volunteer work day event. Volunteers could bring yard equipment such as weedeaters, hand push bush hog, pole saw etc.
I was going to say the same thing. Get the community together and help him get it all cleaned up because it’s part of the history of the town.
Wow, what a great thing you are doing John, Gods blessings on you. Can’t wait to see what to come with Ralph’s store
John I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you 🙏 ❤
I’m 65 and I remember when I was a little girl my grandfather had a curbmarket and out back there was a Johnny house.
Never thought anything about using it.
Lol
Glad you like them!
Your Doing A Great Job 👍 Ralph Would Be So Proud....
Watch out for those tough Tennessee wasps John...I remember them from an early video.
its lookin good john you did a awesome job there
This be supportive of him doing this work and not put him down. You could only do what you can do with what you got and they are all this whole situation. They're all lucky to have each other. I think they're really wonderful. Let's be uplifting. Sorry I had to say something
Great job! Ralph is looking down on you, and he's proud of what you're doing, to keep his memory alive.
Glad the video is back up. I had another 15 minutes to finish it. ❤
Hope you enjoyed it!
Another Great Job John. Thanks you so much for helping your Fellow Souls.. Your a special Human Being my Friend.. Hope 2 Meet you 1 Day soon once you get back into the N.C. area as my car is really old & I try not to go over 500 miles from Home here in The Eastern N.C. Republic... Much Love My Brother..
Take the door hinges off the out house put some 2x4 supports on the inside and out around the bottom then put a 2x4 up high enough on 2 opposite sides to lift it up by hand 4 people to lift it up one to block it or set it off to the side to repair its foundation then set it back on its spot
Looking good, I hope you have someone to pick ticks off of ya! lol. Great job as always, I wish we lived closer we’d come and help you!
Great video, thank you. I Am exhausted just watching!!
This series is so incredible. I am so grateful for your efforts at this task. I’ll do something to help you not sure what at this time I have some coke and Pepsi crates the wife and I could offer for display
Travis
If you can find someone tearing down an old barn you could possibly reside the building that way. Has it been declared a historic landmark by the county ? Make some signs to put on the building and wherever you can that its being preserved and anyone interested in donating time or materials to the project would be greatly appreciated and they would be part of preserving the history of Greasy Hollow ! That blank white sign on the front would be perfect for that !
It is an awesome start. Keep doing this guys. You'll be so proud of yourselves and I think it's so sweet of John to pitch in
Poison ivy reacts better when you cut stem and then spray. Love the videos brother!!
STUNNING
Jhon do it however you want to mow it all no matter how high how thick it is your stuff. You are doing a great job.
I'm sure u noticed but the power coming out from meter base into the building needs probably re ran in conduit. Dry rot could be damaged.
Great video as always! We would love to come and help in the fall ( I cant do the heat) and come to the estate sale! Sad we didnt get to meet Ralph but you are doing God's work ❤
Great Video and Job well done so far. I love your passion for History/Nostalgia and cant wait to see more of this.
Good job John. The outhouse sank probably because of the hole that was dug for the waste. They used to be built on skids so it could be move over a fresh hole. In The old holes people used sack lime to help break down waste.
Thanks!
Sawzall ! Thanks for another , Brother !👍
I really loved all of your videos you don't on Ralph he was a Superman
Looks good John
lol! You are doing a great job John! Remember to fill your sprayer up first and always fill the your spool up with line and top your tank off with gas and chain oil. Save you work buddy. Great production!
That's great what you're doing for that ol General store. 👏 ❤
You were saying you’re looking for stock feom 70s… but not sure if you elaborated. I’ve not finished entire video. Anyway, let me know what you looking for… I have all kinds of things! A lot are older, but some are not.
I didn’t know you ended up with Angel! Im behind on videos.
You’re doing great work that most people wouldn’t do be proud of what you’re doing, looking great. God Bless you.
You are Absolutely Awesome 😊
Thank you so much 😀
I would like to see you do a video visiting Raff grave site
I would like that too
Take an iPhone picture of the leaf. At the bottom, click the i with a circle around it. Then click "look up plant."
Good video John, God bless you for what you do . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.......
It's amazing how nice you made the old place look in just a few hours. Should be easier for upkeep once you get everything cleaned up and trimmed. I sure hope you get some help and materials from the locals and generous subscribers. It's a worthwhile project. God bless
Get a product called Mojave. It’s a kills vegetation for a long time. Mix in a bucket before putting it in a sprayer
if it was reopened as part store and part museum and sell just drinks and chips and a few snacks and maybe have one specialty item like home made cakes etc. it would pay for its own upkeep add a bologna sandwich with hoop cheese and maybe hotdogs and that would definitely draw the out of state tourist in, and when the forecast says ice and snow stock up on bread and milk for the locals, im in the N.C. foothills and when the weatherman mentions any kind of ice the bread and milk counters get stripped clean fast, if that county is not real strict on code enforcement you could take a 280 or 500 gallon fuel oil tank shoot it full of holes and bury it in sand and gravel and you have a cheap septic tank that last for years and the old outhouse could be made into a real toilet for not much money if a county water hookup isn't too expensive.
You are doing a great job cleaning up that place. I ride a motorcycle and most people don't know that it is illegal to blow grass clippings in the road. The reason for this that to a motorcycle grass clippings are like ice and causes the bike to skid. Please be careful with your clippings. I have come upon riders that have gone down before and it isn't a pretty site.
Maybe someone close around can loan you a pole saw
Good job
Great video, please make sure you blow the grass clippings off the road, motorcycles will have an accident with grass clippings, not sure if you did or not, did not see you do it so just a reminder from a bike guy.
Good stuff!
Good job thanks keep it up thanks
what you are doing is great
John there's a product called eraser that is powder you mix with water and it will kill the weeds I use it on my property and I know it works you may have to look for it at a co-op, you've done a great job helping the girls clean up
Maybe you'll get some locals that will help with cleanup and what needs to be done if ilived close i would jump in and help. I think if we all pray about it the Lord will supply your needs too preserve history.
Dam your working up a sweat. Slow down.❤
Sure is a tiny rake. Never seen a rake that small ever.
We need to borrow or get you a big ole tractor for higher grass
Jewelweed helps with poison ivy...
There is no lights in the store , there for not many webs or bugs ! I picked an old doctor’s office that had closed in the 60s and not many webs if any at all !
What tree is that one you where cutting tree limbs off of?
John does the old Pepsi machine work on the outside of the store? If it was operational, you could sell drinks and help on the electric expenses. Depends on the traffic on that road. Seems like several cars passed by during filming.b
I was wondering about the Pepsi machine too!?
I think VGG (Vice grip garage) has old roof tin on property he just bought in TN.
Yeah i watch him on RUclips. He is probably not easy to get a hold of and hes about 3 5 hours from me i think.
😅
Ear and eye protection dude.
Definition of hillbilly is if yu own a chainsaw. I own a couple
I think it should be against the law to make a weed Wacker with a curved shaft.

When did Ralph pass ??
in December
@@theappalachianchannel thank you RIP we are losing them fast and there story's need to be heard
I know you are a grown man, but you really should not be there by yourself, Mr John. That makes me nervous.🙏❤️🙂
Buddy why don’t you use Ralph’s tractor and brush hog to clear that out and get yourself a better chainsaw with a sharp chain, your making that job way to hard on yourself. If I lived a lot closer I would be happy to help you out but I live in MO.
Are they going to reopen it Jhon I would like to come and have a sandwich there and what do you think about me coming and setting up and selling Hotdogs and lemonade and raise money for repairs I have a mobile hot dogs business and we could raise some money for the store just let me know thank you
no its not going to open as a store but will open for people to come see it a few times a year. . Yes that would be great to come and sell hot dogs to raise money. I think they will be having a estate sale in the fall that would be a good time to come. Where are you located at? my email is johngward1472@gmail.com
@@theappalachianchannel i live in corryton that's north east Knoxville I have the best hot dogs in town and fresh squeezed lemonade
He said in the video it's going to be a museum, not a store..
