    Saying it’ll last for years due to various issues health and other thing I had not picked my airbrush up for at least 15 years and I used my old createx to finish a job and my friends say it looks great and when I tell them the paint is 15 years old they can not believe it so I can vouch for it lasting I am hoping to get right back into it keep up the great work

    I run a 3 to 1 ratio with wicked opaque in a .35 needle airbrush. 3 parts 4012 reducer to 1 part paint at 18-20psi. Sometimes 4 to 1........ I'll be trying some 4011 next.

    Thanks Chris, 4030 is the silver bullet IMO. I love that 4030 can be added to the entire line which greatly extends my palette and the usability of my paints, I can now use Createx Airbrush paints, AutoAir, Illustration in the one painting, just using the features and effects from the different lines and economising the use of paints, Illustration for fine detail and the larger bottles of Createx Airbrush for background. In addition, AutoSealers with tints can greatly reduce time, like a blue tint background for doing a seascape I did recently I ended up going stright to the clouds with white and using CandyO2 to intensify the blue to do the Ocean . I also bought some squeeze bottle to store blends which you state have no pot life and it has worked out well, being able to touch up after mistakes with the original blend. I bought a Lab Magnetic Mixer which I find great for blending paints as it thoroughly mixes the paint as I add a drop at a time I can see the hues and color changes

      Hello. there's a below comment regarding the difference between 4011 Reducer and 4012 Reducer. We're getting better performance in regard to less tip-dry, improved flow and longer shelf-life of paint after reducing with 4011 Reducer compared to 4012. However, 4012 Reducer works, it doesn't cause "issues" unless its added its used in excess amounts to over-reduce paint, especially when adding a lot of reducer to a little bit of paint in the airbrush cup, which we do not recommend. Always add reducer in incremental amounts, stirring in a mixing cup. Thank you.

    Just to clarify the pot life. If you store your mix that is made up of 4011, 4030 and your paint.. it can be put into another air tight container and it will last for years?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 года назад +3

      It depends. When Createx paint is mixed with 5% - 10% 4011 Reducer and 4030 Balancing Clear, then stored air-tight, it can last for several years. Of course, every time the bottle is opened and fresh air is allowed in, some curing occurs at the surface where liquid meets air. Eventually, the paint will thicken due to cured resin and loss of water-content due to evaporation. So, yes, Createx paint mixed with 5% - 10% 4011 & 4030 can be stored air-tight for several years if not opened during this time. If the paint is repeatedly opened, or over-reduced, this will shorten how-long the paint lasts in a sprayable solution. Best practice is only to reduce paint intended for use within a month or so. Pot-life refers a chemical time-window under which a 2k paint, that is a paint with catalytic activation, takes before its viscosity doubles. No Createx paints are 2k, and technically do not have a pot life ever. What we're discussing is shelf-life, to which reducing does shorten the time of the shelf-life due to premature curing and loss of water content due to evaporation. Keeping paint stored in a cool, dark place, such as a paint cabinet, and capped air tight protects against reduced paint having a short shelf-life. However, every time the bottle is opened and fresh air exchanges with the paint, the shelf-life is affected. Thank you.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  4 года назад +4

      4011 Reducer is the standard, go-to thinner for all Createx paints. 4011 Reducer, first introduced in 2003, is slower (less aggressive) compared with 4012 Reducer, introduced 2008. 4011 works better with our candy2o, and urethane resin products such as 4030 Balancing Clear and new UVLS Clears. 4012 works well in more humid areas, and we'll continue to make it as long as regulations permit, to which 4012's solvent-alcohol, 2-Butoxy Ethanol, was classified as a level 3 health risk for 2020, whereas 4011 is a level 2. In summary, we recommend 4011 reducer for thinning all Createx paints & clears. Thank you.

      No. Once 4011 Reducer has been added, paint should be sprayed within a few days. We recommend 48-hours, but if capped air tight, paint thinned with 4011 Reducer can last for several weeks, but should not be mixed and stored bac in the bottle. Thank you.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  Год назад

      4030 is a urethane clear, that when added to Createx paints, which are made with an acrylic resin, creates an acrylic-urethane resin blend that has improved flow while spraying, leveling while drying and adhesion & mar resistance after curing. Dry times are a bit faster too. Add 4030 ~ 10% per volume to Createx paints, then thin as needed with 4011 Reducer. for candy2o, mix ratios are different. Does 4030 react negatively with 4012 (given the alcohol content) or is it just considered "not as good" as 4011?
    I've read the other remarks here and appreciate the general difference with 4011 and 4012. I live in Australia so temp is normally in 20-25C winter -> 30-35C Summer. Humidity varies but often moderate.

      4011 Reducer is recommended for use with all Createx paints, including 4030 Balancing Clear. 4012 Reducer is too fast and doesn't allow for flow and leveling of our urethane-resin products as well as 4011 Reducer. To make 4012 Reducer work better / more like 4011 Reducer, mix 4012 1:1 with distilled water. Thank you.

    Can I mix 4030 with createx colors to paint on leather? and how do you recommend doing it and protecting it?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 года назад +1

      For leather, mix 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear ~ 25% per volume with Createx paints, thinning the mix with 4011 Reducer. Best practice for leather is to apply one or two medium coats of 4050 direct to the leather, followed by the paint + 4050 mix, then top-coat with any UVLS Clear, www.uvlsclears.com. Adding 4030 to Createx paints assists with adhesion when panting leather, but 4050 is much better and our recommended additive for Createx paints when painting leather. Thank you.

    Great series. I was spraying AutoBorne sealers (6000 and 6003) , and at 20% 4011, it was still clogging my Patriot 105 and back up Badger 200 brush, both with a .5 needle at 35psi. I had to add a lot more 4011 on the fly to finish. It was still thicker than the usual "2% milk" consistency but then sprayed OK. Is it OK to eyeball it like that? Is the "2% milk" consistency too thin? Any suggestions? Thanks for reading.

      AutoBorne Sealer is a primer, best applied with a spray-gun or min-gun, or an airbrush such as the Iwata TH2. With a 0.5mm tip-size (not all airbrushes are made the same, i.e. size of inner channeling), thin with 4011 Reducer as needed to get flow and atomization. Thank you.

    • @CreatexColors

      Yes, although its not so much for flexibility as Createx paints in themselves are often flexible enough. Adding either 4030 or 4050 increase adhesion, durability and improves flow and leveling. 4050 is a bit more flexible than 4030, so if optimum flexibility is a concern, it is a better option compared to 4030.
