Just some thoughts: I've been using this for 3 days now with a AAA lithium battery and I'm surprised at how much I like it. GPX 2 sitting on my desk, along with a few other flagships, and this feels just as capable as any other. I actually really like the sensor position. Still using my Viper Ultimate and am thinking about getting a battery replacement for it down the line.
I love the shape of the Ultimate and V2 and not so sure about the new, but it's interesting.
I do also like the AA battery as it will have a longevity mindset on the mouse, but the weight may become an issue, though if you are happy with Viper Ultimate weight that is 74 grams, then a lithium powered AA inside the new V3 will be the same but "better" on paper regarding the sensor upgrade.
I am also happy to see the change for a mechanical switch instead of optical, yes optical are better on paper once again, but the feeling of some solid Kailh GM 8.0's is something I missed having the ability to mod my Viper Ultimate with.
Went from Huntsman mini with red optical switches, to Cherry MX Blacks, now currently on MX2A and love them, there is just something about the old-school mechanical feel.
Just like watches, I'll take an automatic mechanical over a digital any day of the week but yet the digital is better on paper.
Just like we want to drive fossil fueled cars instead of EV's, once again the EV's outperform the old, but there is something historical, and just the enigma around it is what makes us love it.

Yeah I think people are missing the idea that they've never shipped a lower-tier version first when debuting a new shape or iteration. And it has features you wouldn't expect for the price - like 4k. And the marketing really aims it at pros but the weight says otherwise. I don't know man, if Razer's own team is confused about it, seems like a fair call.

@@badseedtech the hyperspeed mice have always been slme of my favorites. Usually they're a gen behind though not a gen ahead.
The Basilisk was a way to get the old shape of preferred, same with the Deathadder. Also the BT support was super handy for work laptop use. Same way I used my Rival 3 wireless for years.
The Orochi v2 is an odd one die to how it was marketed. I however forgot my in Seattle as I was using it as intended as my laptop mouse.

@badseedtech I picked it up with the hyperspeed dongle with plans to use the mouse at work and the dongle for my Deathadder V3 Pro... after trying it out though, I feel like there's a market for the smaller but heavier mice with excellent gaming features. I'm much more steady with it than my Deathadder and that primarily comes down to the weight.

the switches are razer modified kailh 8.0s which is why i enjoy the click so much. Its been great for my large hands so far in relaxed 1-3-1 grip. Only thing ive noticed is if you drop it you can sometimes make the battery spring resonate inside the mouse.

  • @sasso3844
    @sasso3844 Год назад +1

4:42 nah, that's because a lot of people have a weird conception of what a fingertip grip is and grip the mouse steadily at the far front of the mouse while not touching the hump with their palm and thus call it "fingertip"... that's the shittiest fingertip grip you could use and of course a mouse with a flatter profile feels better for this weird grip because the hump is not in the way (because you grip all the way in the front and remove your freedom of movement). The usual fingertip grip also uses the fingertips to maneuver the mouse into all kinds of directions, and to be able to do that the best positions for your fingers on a mouse to place at is in the middle or even behind the middle part of a mouse, not the far front. The point and strength of just using fingertips and nothing else to move the mouse is maneuvering the mouse out of your fingertips like a pencil, it gives you way more adjustability and freedom in mouse movements, and you can't get the full range of motion if your fingertips grip the far front. (like you can't pull the mouse far back into your palm left right up etc.) Usually no matter how big or small your hands are, with the right fingertip grip you'd never have any problems gripping a mouse, even a mouse with the heighest profile or hump. small and flat doesn't mean good for fingertip. For example g703 as a high profile mouse and more of a slightly bigger than medium sized mouse is the goat for fingertip even if you have medium hands. You just grip in the middle and maneuvering is godlike because of the high profile/high and flat sides. Easy to grip and move around with your fingertips. The way you grip and call it "fingertip" far in the front, only because your palm is not touching (big hand) doesn't make it a fingertip, the playstyle comes much closer to a palm grip kinda playstyle ingame actually. It's too stationary for it to be a true fingertip grip

    • @Terepin64

What I learned over the years is that ambi mice are horrible for fingertip grip and ergo mice are perfect for it.

i got a basilisk it was ok the feet were gone within a year bc i use a hard pad....and the side grips too worn/af. I would have gone with the viper if it was cheaper...but the basilisk +dock was 68$ for me...and i honestly thought more mice from razer were going to come out with that charging/dock compatibility Unfortunately not the case...though the Infared switches are/were nice to add to the setup since i have a huntsmanTE. Now its hard to find good replacement feet and theyre pretty expensive + shipping and Grips...is like 40-50$..so i just went with the viper v3 hyper speed instead of getting replacement parts for the basilisk. Though i wish it had side/scroll capability for a QOL/2 assignable keys in various genre/titles but w.e. Definitely lighter than the basilisk 20k wireless. Really wasnt expecting it to feel like half the weight honestly. And IMO the feet/design on the viper v3....is pretty nice/easy to replace with different models feet even if i wanted to the basilisk seemed like a PITA to replace...IMO the viper ultimate was the better buy more accessible replacement feet....easier to replace side/grips etc. Just when the deathadder V3 hyper is 99$ XD and the basilisk hyper is 69$ and ive already kind of tried that syle mouse out....and mine is a better version than the cheaper hyperspeed basilisk...so i just figured id try something else/new it was 59$ but i still really need to run it hard/abuse it for a year to see if that 60$ was worth it. I can always find some feet to either cut to size/shape for the basilisk if i want to go back to using it. But im going to have to strip those cheap/grips and use some tape/grips etc. If this 60$ mouse is as cheap/build quality as most ppl exepected from razer XD ill see in 12 months.

Another review of confusion, but at least it's confusion and not bashing it for no apparent educated reason. Like another comment said, but more in detail, it's Razer showcasing the newest shape iteration to the viper line, in the form of the budget line hyperspeed, which you yourself choose to keep it heavy at 82 grams or lightweight at 66 grams with a AAA Lithium battery mod. There's even rechargeable ones. So, I think before another reviewer should make any reviews they should really research what's going on. Brandon Taylor by far has made the best review of the mouse, but this is still pointing out a lot of good points. Big fan regardless, however I definitely would not recommend Fresh Reviews anymore as that guy shown repeatable clips and goes off of "trust me bro" talking points instead of actual technical design and purpose. Cheers regardless 🍻

      Confusing bc
      1) it doesn’t fit the roadmap that they outlined to reviewers and press starting last summer.
      2) Razer has never debuted a new iteration of a Pro-tier shape in a Hyperspeed variant.
      3) Has features you wouldn’t expect - like 4k support - in an entry level price point.
      4) Marketed to us *as* a pro mouse - literally used by pros - yet goes against going lightweight.

I'm really of the mindset that super light is not actually great. I prefer something in the range of 70-80 grams for a mouse. The balancing of the weight is far more important to me than if it's under 60 grams or whatever. I have a deathadder v3 pro that normally use for non-mmo gaming and regular use and a naga x for my mmo gaming and I can safely say that the only reason I have not switched away from the deathadder v3 is because it literally has the perfect shape for me.

Whatever reasons or circumstances connect this with the buyers are, of course, all valid. What's mindboggling and insane is how natural and "as expected" it feels to pay 150$ for a fucking barebones "Pro Gaming" plastic. 13400f is 200$. OG wired Viper released at 80$. Diablo and 2K are priceless. The Business of Mainstream Digital Entertainment is genuinely an astonishing human achievement.

Personally i think its nice that razer released more variety. Razer did listen, and the customers are just hella annoying. When they released the DA V3 PRO. People kept complaining about how its so expensive, its just lightweight, they prefer the old Viper ultimate with more functions. They did listen and released Cobra, and yet people are still complaining. At this point razer is just releasing different kind of mouse for different customer with different preferences and budgets, so Im all for it.

I just purchased this mouse yesterday, mainly because I was curious about the new form factor having the slightly taller hump. I own the Viper V2 Pro and I usually main my G Pro Superlight over that, because it fits better in my large hands. Gotta say, this Viper v3 is checking the boxes for me. The balance between comfort and performance is great for someone like myself with large hands. Sure it’s 10g heavier than my Pro X Superlight, but I haven’t found the weight to be an issue so far. Granted I’ve only used it for one day. Going to try and stick with this and see how it feels long term over my Superlight. Great review as always! Keep up the great work!
