I tried, and IT WORKED! This is the very first time I ever experienced something that actually works to remove those burnt stain. I took out all my pots and pans and clean them. They all shine like new! I cleaned my oven door, toaster, Range hood, and more... so glad that I came across your video. 😁
I cannot believe it…! It worked on my horribly burnt-on commercial stove… first pass got MOST of it and did spot follow-ups to get most of the rest… it looks nearly brand new… so glad I saw this video and still had the product in the way back of my supplies… amazing… thank you!!!!
I have used BKF for many years and am always pleased with it. Shortly after watching this, I had a pot boil over on my glass cooktop! I tried using the expensive cooktop cleaner stuff that came with the stove. I worked and worked and it didn't do much. Remembered this video and thought, why not? Made a fairly liquid solution and put on stuff that needed to be cleaned. Left it about 10 minutes and voila!!! Everything came off like a dream and with very little work and it now looks gorgeous! So, I'll never spend the money on the expensive 'glass stove top cleaner' solution again. No scratching, no problems, and this works! As always, thank you for your wonderful information Kevin!!!
THANK YOU. I've had burnt-on grease on my stove for years and tried many things to get rid of it without success. I already had some BKF, so I just used your method, and now it looks brand new! This stuff also works great on the inside of the oven door.
Hi Kevin, I recently discovered your channel after looking up afternoon tea videos. Your videos are a delight to watch. You are so witty, charming, and fun! And this video was especially helpful. I appreciated that you showed that cleaning the stain took a few tries and we all learned to let the cleaning product works its magic by giving it time. Thank you for sharing your tips, trick, and good humour with all of us.
I use Easy Off oven cleaner on the oven, stove top, and stainless steel pans. I would like to try your method and compare them. Some people seem like they talk endlessly, it seems they think they just need to talk to fill up space. I enjoy the fact that you show the important part and don't just fill in waiting time with meaningless chatter. You videos never get boring. Thanks!
OMG, you are my new favorite person! I was so excited to get my new stainless steel, seven burner stove and within two months, it was looking kind of rough. Your solution worked like a charm. I was so excited, I also used it on the stainless steel front of the dishwasher and it now looks great, too! Thanks!
I am so happy to read the comments that showed that I was not the only one with a messy stovetop ...to be honest I clean only when I am expecting guests and that’s when reality hits when it gets so tough to clean burnt on food and grease. Thanks for the video, it was informative and entertaining.. and I am so glad u did not edit the initial part but showed us how u actually cleaned it.. using elbow grease😀Love such honest videos.
Thank you for sharing this information. I have a new Wolf stainless steel stove and have had this issue to deal with since my kitchen renovation. So glad to know how to clean it! Thank you!!
Barkeepers Friend, this is the last thing I'd expect to work. This works soo much better than other methods I tried. I got a really bad mess and have not cleaned in long time
My Husband asked me to Thank You for this Cleaning Tip. He has tried the Baking Soda and Vinegar and it works, but not like this trick. Thank you for your great shows. We love you!
I love the trial and error. Thank you for your honesty. I’ve been using this product over the last few years and I’ll admit that sometimes I have to put more elbow grease than other sessions, but hands down it’s my go to favorite product. I usually sprinkle over the stovetop and than use a wet cloth to scrub. I am not a fan of the squeeze/spray bottle versions for this particular cleaning job; I have more success with the powder.
Kevin, thank you for showing the step-by-step effort of getting the best result out! This is the best video of any kind to learn through failure on how to get success!! You don't learn anything without failure....but, at end, you come out successfully! I will try this method using this product!! Thank you for posting this method. I liked it because it has Deming's quality built into it (PDCA = Plan, Do, Check, Act) ...a continuous improvement process!!
OMG!!!!! I made my solution like a nice gravy and let it set 15 minutes and literally WIPED it off! A little scrubbing on the REAL bad spots. My stove was at least as bad as yours!!! This is the best thing I've seen on the internet in a very long time!!!! Thank you, Thank you!!!!
Thank you for passing this on. Definitely will try this. You are so down to earth and I love that you us when things work out and when sometimes not how is planned. Have a beautiful week.
Bar keepers friend is the bomb! Been using it since the early 80s. I like to use a damp sponge with a little detergent and I shake a little on the side of the sink and use what I need. Some times an old toothbrush works great for the grooves that the sponge or cloth doesn’t get. I’ve also used the toxic oven cleaner spray for a very difficult clean up. Spray it on leave it a while. 5 min maybe and check with a tooth brush! I have bought stainless steel pans that feed an army but when I cleaned it all off I found out that it was a very good quality pan and it looked new again with no scratches because the outside was never cleaned. The pan cost me $12 but I googled it and it would have been approx $150 Your cleaning gives me joy! There is nothing like clean! Beautiful work!!!😊
I use Barkeeper's Friend on just about everything, but I've never seen a real demonstration of what it means to "form a paste!" Calphalon recommends it in their instructions, but that's just writing. What I love about this video is that you made what I would consider a paste, and it didn't work! So you tried again, with a more watery paste. And it worked! I'm trying to clean these new "Sensi-Temp" sensors that come on electric burners after 2018. Very small, stainless steel (I think) disk, and in the middle of a coil. I need just this!...a paste I can lay on with a spoon, then wipe off. Thank you very much, and never let anyone knock you for not always doing a perfect video the first time around. We learn just as much, oftentimes from our failures as from our successes.
Absolutely perfect results. Created a paste and left it on just as video described. Tried everything to scrape it off before this. I used the same sponge and a toothbrush. Now if only there was something easy to clean the shelves!
WOWZA!!!! This worked perfectly!!! Like you, we tried EVERYTHING. We even tried Bon-Ami since we didn't have Barkeeper's Friend and NOTHING. So, I went out andI bought the Barkeeper's Friend and tried again as you instructed--AND IN JUST 10 minutes and a scrub with he non-scratch pad AND THE BURNED ON GREASE IS GONE!! Thank-you so much!!!!
I worked in a big hotel in the strip and they always had bar keepers secret for our stainless steel sink. I’m trying this on my stove now thank you for this video
Thank you so much for your video! I got a can of Bar Keeper's Friend at our local grocery store. Followed your instructions and it was amazing. Applied the paste to burned on peach syrup. The boil over occurred on the gas cooktop. Caused black sticky stains under the burner. Once again THANKS!
I don't know if Bar Keeper's Friend had "soft-scrub" when you made this, but that is what I used today. I watched the first few minutes of this as I was already in the process of cleaning a 3-burner Furrion RV propane stovetop so I finished (just like you did with a few applications) and it came out clean. Next, I'll try to get some stains out of my "stainless steel" RV sink. Good video and just what I needed. Thank you.
I actually needed this video and have barkeeper's friend. It used to be called barmaid's friend but the powers that be forced the name change though I don't think it was a demand from a barmaid or barkeeper but someone with too much time on their hands. Now many people might say "there is nothing worse than watching a burner being cleaned" but I counter that with 2 things - if you need a burner cleaned this is very interesting, if you watch a different burner while another is being cleaned then that is worse 🙂 I hope you get the English humour. By the way, it is called a washing up bowl (not pan) and is used (though I don't use one) for a number of reasons: 1) protect dishes and glasses from contact with what used to be a Belfast or Butler sink (made of ceramic). 2) Protect the sink from a dropped pot (they could chip) 3) hot water economy.4) to provide a container for washing and a space to the side for rinsing. Nowadays, people have a stainless steel sink with 1.5 bowls so the need for a washing up bowl is less. Thank you for the video, I watched it to see how I can remove burned on, accumlated, grease on a Cobb BBQ
I had baked on grease which I've been trying to remove for almost 20 year and this removed it all! It's freaking amazing! Thanks for this - so pleased with our now greaseless stove! :)
First time I see one of your videos and I'm BEYOND GRATEFUL I watched it, my stove top looks like new. THANK YOU a thousand times, I thought I was never going to be able to clean it to look descent again but I'm in shocked how good this worked just WOW!! Adding before n after photos. Thank you Kevin!!!!!
I can't figure how to add the photos, once I do I'll add if I can, sorry. Btw, I used the soft side of a regular sponge since I didn't have the non-scratch at the moment and it did the job 😀
I love BKF!!! I had a housekeeper come in who had my stainless looking phenomenal. I begged her for her secret: Sprayaway stainless cleaner. She got my glass inset on the oven door absolutely sparkling using regular plain old Barbasol shaving cream, $0.99 at Dollar General. Add a layer of shave cream, walk away for an hour and it wiped off with a sponge. I have Wolf Subzero 36" double convection self-cleaning ovens (I did wedding cakes awhile back) which will void all warranties if anything but water is used, so she used low tack tape to tape around the glass... omg it sparkles!!
Thank you Kevin. I tried this product on my dirty gas stove and it works, on my white stove. Hallelujah 🙌 I made Paste too. And used a new tooth brush, followed by scrubby. A little elbow grease as well. 😅🤣 it was therapeutic
This was a really honest video. Great job! I have a SS stove top too and I cleaned it today. Just didn't have "bar keeper's friend". Instead I used baking soda and vinegar at first, didn't work too much or I was just in a hurry. Anyhow, I managed to get rid of most of the grime with a 3M metal scourer and lemon dish wash liquid with a fair amount of elbow grease! Unfortunately, I've not seen a metal shiner before in my super market. But I definitely will, on my next trip to the supermarket
This worked perfectly on a stainless steel warming drawer with impossible to remove stains. One suggestion is that Barkeepers Friend has a bottled soft cleanser available that is perfectly mixed ahead of time. Just apply and scrub to remove stains
Hi Craig - Glad this worked for you! On the advice of many viewers, I did try the liquid version of BarKeepers Friend. It was not as effective as the original, powdered stuff.
Been using for years. You don't need to premix in a bowl. Put on wet washcloth and rub, no waiting. Use old toothbrush to get in cracks, crevices. Be sure to wash off with soapy rag a few times. It works great on stainless steel sink, pots, and pans, tools, etc.. Great video.
I’ve been using the elbow grease method w BKF for years but I’m super into THIS method! I had no idea there was an ingredient to break up grease/stains in BKF, I thought it was just a non scratch abrasive I needed to rub stains out with. This will save me so much scrubbing! LOVE IT!
I would try the dry powder sprinkled around the burner, and trickle just boiled water over it, and wait. I think the heat of the water helps to loosen the gunge which the powder the. Dissolves.
This is probably the only thing that works. I left it on at least twenty minutes. I was SO surprised that it does NOT leave scratches. You do have to give it a little elbow grease and sometimes pick at the stains, but at least in the end it worked. NOTHING else did!
Thank you Kevin for introducing me to Barkeeper’s Friend. I use it on my copper bottom Revereware saucepans of 44 yrs and they look like new ! My Mom always said shiny copper cook ware is the sign of a happy homemaker ! ( ugh !)
Our new house has a beautiful stainless top oven. Never had a stainless oven before and I was petrified of using it. Good video. I am happy I can use Bar Keepers for this. Thanks! Can't wait to use my new oven!!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! My expensive stove gives me no way to clean the inside of the oven. Warranty says no oven sprays etc. Just used your method on my oven door and it took off all of the built up grease. We are selling our home next spring and your suggestion will allow me to CLEAN the oven.
I just cleaned my oven with the same procedure! Guess what. It is so the thing I will use from now on!! It's so much nicer than smelly, high chemical, oven cleaners!
Great job!!!! Only one tip....Scotchbrite actually makes a sponge for stove top cleaning. It's called stovetop sponge I think. Between the sponge and the bar keepers friend. It will.scrub off much easier. Thanks to you I learned about beekeepers friend which I will try. But get the sponge.....it is amazing.
Better yet! I had Bar Keeper's Friend Soft Scrub. No making a paste. Just squirted it on, left it while cleaning elsewhere, for 40 minutes. Came off with practically no scrubbing!
I love Bar Keepers. It's also great for glass shower doors, it helps A LOT with the hard water spots and leaves the foucet sparkling clean. I use it for everything
Nice work! If you think about it, we actually clean what we see, and maybe it took a few tries because there might have been more than one time a layer of burnt on grease. I haven’t even thought about pulling the tops off of my burners until I saw you do it. I went and pulled mine off and nothing was there, but I have only had my range for several days. You better believe I stay with my cooking so that nothing boils over. Truly I love the results of gas cooking, and I will clean difficult situations to maintain my range. Thank you for the video!
This has changed my life! 😂 Hate gas tops as they get so filthy even with little use. I’m off to get some Barkeepers friend and just about to wipe off the baking soda that has done nothing! Thanks so much!
For those of you who have a painted stove top (mine's black), don't use this product! It will permanently etch the surface... which looks a lot worse than the caked on dirt. I wish I had investigated further.
Tamika Johnson - I have white enamel on my gas stove and a glass enamel spackle surface on my kitchen wood stove. I use HOPE"S brand " PERFECT SINK". All I can think of is " The Perfect Storm!" It claims it is good for Stainless, cast iron, Corian, etc. It does a great job on more delicate surfaces than stainless. Hope this helps you. I bought it at Lowes. ~ Diane
Worked like a charm! Wasn't sure if this product would be available in Canada, but it is: in canadiantire. Thanks a lot for sharing; made my life a lot easy.
Even though it took 3 trials, more burnt grease came off each time..and over all it will get better everytime you do this treatment. Overall, I am happy I found your Video because I have been trying so many things and nothing has worked.. I am wondering if I can use this on a regular stove..but I plan to buy a bottle of this product and if it dont work on mine I will save it for someone else who has a stainless stove.. Thanks for Sharing & I hope your Video Multiplies Many Many Times Over and Your Subscribers! Thank You...
hi kevin. baking soda plus vinegar of the same consistency like your BK soap mixture will work great BUT you have to leave it on over night. than you just wipe it off. it works amazingly.
Thank you so much for this video! I did not have bar keepers friend, so I used Cameo instead using your method. And I let it sit for about a half hour, and it worked!
Some people may want to wear gloves: Active ingredients According to the 2015 material safety data sheet, the ingredients are feldspar, linear sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (DDBSA) and oxalic acid. Prolonged use and extended skin contact may cause irritation, peeling and contact dermatitis, which is avoided by wearing gloves.
Great Video!!!! Thanks. Works GREAT on my OLD Porcelain SINK, too!!!! I have been using it for years. It has been around for a very long time. I would only use it on Porcelain after it has lost the gloss. The Kaboom and other harsh chemicals really destroyed the gloss off of my sinks and bathtub. Uggh.
@ Lana Lockhart, I was just wondering if it would work on porcelain. Thanks for your info. I rent, and the last tenants didn't do a great job in the bathroom and I can't use harsh chemicals like kaboom
Is it dangerous when the mixture goes near those two little bits that stick out near the stove/hob/ circle....if i use ammonia is tht dangerous if it gets near the teo little bits that stick out and up... you have at 12:43 one white thing sticking up...also what hapoens if the solution falls inside the circle hold like it did for yours..some of the solution fell inside the circle hold or touched it...
I bought BKF for my new pot set....never thought of using it for my SS oven. Never thought of using it there. WILL TRY, as NOTHING works and I have really scratched it a lot in the past trying to clean it. THANKS!
Thank you for this! I loved the REAL experience with trying Barkeepers Friend over various times and with different (super user vs not so used) burners. I was actually looking for what would help me clean the grates above the burner, but I had no clue you could take the ring off after the ceramic top. Maybe I am super dumb.. when I was a kid, it was fancy to have an electric stove. I love gas so much, just never learned how to car for it. Thank you!! Again!!
I used Palmolive Eco-friendly/phosphate free dishwasher liquid, which I purchased for the same price as the Bar Keeper's Friend, it's a 75 ounce jug. I got mine at Walmart and also saw it at my local supermarket. I was able to get my range hood vent filter like new without nearly as much scrubbing as you did on this video, Kevin. I'm looking to use it on my burner grates next. Hope it helps.
Excellent video, Kevin! This technique worked great where the baking soda/vinegar, Goof Off, and several other fixes did NOT. The thinner mix and waiting 10 minutes or so was the right answer for me. The crud came off pretty easily and we had a pretty hard baked-on surface. A couple of spots we treated twice, but it worked so well!
Been using Bar Keepers friend for EVERRR!!! It’s absolutely fab for stainless steel sinks - especially once they’re gettin’ UP THERE - & begin to stain more easily. And you are ABSOLUTELY correct - the power is in the mixture & the time left to work the stain. I sometimes leave it all night on cookie sheets & stainless steel pans w/the copper ring at the bottom. Thanks for another great video!
Put oven shelves in a large black bin garbage bag, then pour 1/4 pint of household ammonia into the bag , tie up the open end of the bag and leave it overnight, do this outside, because of the strong smell. Remove the shelves the next day and rinse off, a little scrubbing is still needed though on heavy stains or baked on grease
Thank you Kevin, that was wonderful. The back of my electric cooker has a lot of grease I didn't know was there. I have some Bar Keepers Friend, but I think I was using it incorrectly, putting it on in powder form and wiping straight away. No wonder the grease didn't shift. So a very big thank you again, and I hope to have a shining back of cooker very soon. Love and blessings xx
I do believe that older brown sections that have accrued in layers probably need to come off in layers. When fats are heated and re-heated, they denature into plastic, essentially. They become waterproof. I always mean to go through this process at least once per week so it is never an ordeal, but I don't.
Really appreciated that you didn't dress it up for the video and how you showed your trial and error. Going to give it a go.
Sometimes the failures teach us the most! Thank you for sharing the failures and the successes .
I tried, and IT WORKED! This is the very first time I ever experienced something that actually works to remove those burnt stain. I took out all my pots and pans and clean them. They all shine like new! I cleaned my oven door, toaster, Range hood, and more... so glad that I came across your video. 😁

Thank you for showing us a real and honest video of how this works!
I would have assumed the paste would be best, but it seems the water helps activate it. Thank you for showing the failure first and then the success.

I agree! Such a rare type of HONESTY! I have so much Respect 4 that!
Moral of the story is to do this job more often in order to prevent the tough build up. 😉 Thanks for the wonderful demo. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video. Just felt like two friends cleaning their burnt on greasy stoves together.
Thank you for sharing this information. I have a new Wolf stainless steel stove and have had this issue to deal with since my kitchen renovation. So glad to know how to clean it! Thank you!!
wow, it was so nice to see a man cleaning the stove so passionately :):); I will def try this method. Thank you so much :D
Excellent video ! Learned a ton and now my cook top looks great thanks to you !!!!
Barkeepers Friend, this is the last thing I'd expect to work. This works soo much better than other methods I tried. I got a really bad mess and have not cleaned in long time

Bar Keepers friend also cleans white sinks beautifully. The scratches on my white Mikasa plates comes right off. This stuff is amazing.

Not a good idea. Barkeeper's friend is super toxic. Be careful, you might end up with oxalate toxicity.
@@eddie2378yes, I am afraid to use harsh chemical. Bad for health. Is BKF toxic?
Absolutely perfect results. Created a paste and left it on just as video described. Tried everything to scrape it off before this. I used the same sponge and a toothbrush. Now if only there was something easy to clean the shelves!

This product is amazing!!!
Thank you for sharing how well it cleans stuck on grease.
Bar Keepers Friend really does do the trick. And it is better than all the other stuff I tried.
Before you said it...I was thinking Bar Keepers Friend! Glad you found it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for being transparent and honest and showing us the trial and error without editing those out! Will try on my stove top and let you know!

Barbados also removes smoke stains around fireplaces. Spray it on let it sit a bit and wipe off

I was amazed never heard of bar keepers friend. I tried it and it did the trick in no time flat Thank you for this info
OK so I didn’t have bar keepers friend but I did have borax and used it the same exact way you did ,and it worked! Yay.!! Thank you😊
So much better than dealing with toxic ammonia! I will try this. Thank you!
I love how you show it works - with some elbow grease - but it works. Not another fake hack!
Exactly! Need old school elbow grease, I use a no scratch scrubby and toothbrush.
Dissolves.
But bravo, anyway? 😊
( ugh !)
i been looking for something like this for years never heard of it ,good job kevin ,thank you much love jennifer uk
Thanks Kevin - great real life video. You are cool to show real world experience! I'm a fan!
This also cleans your stainless pots and pans up nicely.
Our new house has a beautiful stainless top oven. Never had a stainless oven before and I was petrified of using it. Good video. I am happy I can use Bar Keepers for this. Thanks! Can't wait to use my new oven!!
1st time here; Subscribed! Can't wait to buy this product & clean my oven- Great & very helpful video Kevin Lee Jacobs!
Thank you so much, Sibylle!
❤yes. Bar keepers is wonderful. Inexpensive. Relatively nontoxic. Been using it for YEARS.
Thank you , I watched this twice, very helpful, best wishes from , Surrey, England-🌹
Appreciate your honesty. Your experience mine. Barkeeps friend really works great
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!
The stovetop sponge doesn’t damage the stainless steel finish?
@@kkilljoy3588 Hello! Not in my experience. Fortunately, I haven’t had a problem with it scratching the stainless finish. Hope this helps.
Better yet! I had Bar Keeper's Friend Soft Scrub. No making a paste. Just squirted it on, left it while cleaning elsewhere, for 40 minutes. Came off with practically no scrubbing!
This product is a must for cleaning stainless steel pans like All-Clad.
I love Bar Keepers. It's also great for glass shower doors, it helps A LOT with the hard water spots and leaves the foucet sparkling clean. I use it for everything
BEST THING EVER,WORKS LIKE MAGIC!!! Thank you so much for sharing it... You are awesomeeee!
I wish that I would have before and after pictures. This worked beautifully on my white porcelain stove top and I sure thank you for this video.
For those of you who have a painted stove top (mine's black), don't use this product! It will permanently etch the surface... which looks a lot worse than the caked on dirt. I wish I had investigated further.
What did you use for your stove, if you don't recommend this product?
Tamika Johnson - I have white enamel on my gas stove and a glass enamel spackle surface on my kitchen wood stove. I use HOPE"S brand " PERFECT SINK". All I can think of is " The Perfect Storm!" It claims it is good for Stainless, cast iron, Corian, etc. It does a great job on more delicate surfaces than stainless. Hope this helps you. I bought it at Lowes. ~ Diane
He said it was for stainless steel at least 10 times.
painted stove top? do you mean black ceramic?...?never heard of a painted stove top...
I have a white gas stove I don’t know how to clean it
Barkeepers Friend is fantastic for removing those metal spoon scratches in your light color cups n bowls....magic. I also use on the sink.
Michaela Otto, thank you for that insight. My stove top is also black. Again thank you Otto. And have a blessed day.
Thank you so much for this video! I did not have bar keepers friend, so I used Cameo instead using your method. And I let it sit for about a half hour, and it worked!
Good to know!
Thanks! I had all of this in my kitchen. Came clean in minutes
Nicely done thanks again for your kindness to us viewers
Some people may want to wear gloves: Active ingredients
According to the 2015 material safety data sheet, the ingredients are feldspar, linear sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (DDBSA) and oxalic acid.
I love barkeepers friend, although I do find a combination of Dawn, baking soda and vinegar works like a dream as well.
THANKS!
You are fun and have a lot of joy cleaning stains😂🤣😊
Thank you for this! I loved the REAL experience with trying Barkeepers Friend over various times and with different (super user vs not so used) burners. I was actually looking for what would help me clean the grates above the burner, but I had no clue you could take the
ring off after the ceramic top. Maybe I am super dumb.. when I was a kid, it was fancy to have an electric stove. I love gas so much, just never learned how to car for it. Thank you!! Again!!
Bar Keepers Friend is great. They also make a liquid that works nice on stainless appliances.
Thx
thanx its on my list even though I have the Maverick method I mentioned above, always up for creative solutions!!
great video! It's very real and not fake. We also enjoyed your humor. thank you!!
I'm so glad!
I made a paste with Goof Off and baking soda, it works like a charm because we don’t have BarKeepers friend in my country
You are a great scientist!
Thank you, I needed this tip for my stovetop!!
Bro, thank you for sharing and telling us what active ingredient is. Cancer-free is great!
Worked like a charm, thank you for making the video.
