I love how he associates "cast iron" with a good pump disregarding any other components. In my experience, two plunger type switches have failed on "high end" pumps forcing my battery back up to kick in, both of which were constructed of CAST IRON. I bought a 1/3 hp thermo plastic pump with a buoy type switch instead (with a one year warranty) it is now 3 tears old and it has held up very well in Canadian melting periods of 5 feet+ of snow. This year, It has been running every 2 minutes for 48 hours+ with no issues.
Your vertical floats failed? What BRAND did you have? Did you do the annual maintenance like cleaning out the basin of debris? Was there enough space around the float, all wires out of the way and not directly in front of the inlet? I had a 25yr old Zoeller cast iron sump pump that just finally the float went out on. Now I use a Zoeller cast iron with level guard switch, not a float.
@@clintmurdock119 Hey Dipshit, he didn't say the vertial FLOAT failed, he said the "Plunger type SWITCHES" failed!!! SWITCH, not float dipshit!! cleaning out debris isn't gonna do SHIT for the switch!!!! The switches are a COMMON FAILURE for many pumps, including cast iron. There is no "annual maintenance" for a plunger SWITCH, so wake up, pull your head out your ass, and stop trying to act like a fucking know-it-all.
THANK YOU! Mine backyard pump seems to have stopped working and I am a new homeowner which means I know nothing! I can use this as a reference so I can buy a new one today. Might have to go as close as possible to the best standard in order to get this pump installed. Also best way to learn more is to take the broken pump apart ;) Thank you and God bless you July 4th, !!!
exactly!! THis dipshit is GUEESING about this and that, WONDERING if the plastic may crack. How about a little REALITY CHECK!!! The switches only last 3-5 years typically. regardless of pump. Mine have lasted over 10 yrs, but the average is 3-5
Very disappointing you didnt make it to the Zoeller pumps on the end which is exactly what I have and they are VERY heavy and cast iron almost entirely. The things are literally built like tanks.
This isn't a comparison. This is a non cast iron bashfest:-D Anyway, I agree. Do not use anything that's not cast iron. And whatever you do, don't even think about getting a rigid. I had 3 of those...they all failed within a year. I finally told home depot to take their trash and their lifetime warranty and shove it.
Not so much about cast iron as "Made in USA" Liberty and Zoeller [not from box stores!] Plastic is actually great because its doesn't encrust and rot like HDPE.
Respectfully I have to disagree. Cast Iron pump rust badly and the impeller gets jammed up. I hate plastic impellers because they strip out when you turn them on. Stainless is really the only way to go if you want something to last.
Had a heavy cast Iron, made in USA, Zoeller M53-D. Switch failed. replacement switch inside cast iron housing was cheap plastic. It's all about the integration of all the parts, not just the housing. Typical American cro mag mentality...If I buy American and it's heavy, its good. Nope. FOr example, Tsurumi are some of the best pumps out there and they have some plastic parts and are designed and/or made in Japan.
This guy is smart and explains it well. About to replace mine now. Thanks for all the great vids and info👍👍
This video is fire. Thank you for the info.
Great video !
Yet. Wish u named the pump with ball park pricing!
Thxs
Can you tell me which kind of oildoes @ sump pump uses. ( ridgid).

What to look for? Let me guess. Cast iron?
Heavy Good! Seriously, there is more to a pump than the weight of it.
And watch out for the plastic !
The dam switches go out before they crack I never heard of that

Chinese crap, most of these.
@FlyingPigNJ I've had TWO Rigids, both lasted WELL OVER 15 yrs with NO ISSUE!!!! Best pumps EVER!!!! Mine get EXTREMELY HEAVY usage!!!

This is a bad review only due to the fact you’re comparing sewage and rain water pumps in turn confusing someone who isn’t too sure of what they need.
Heavy cast iron good, don’t worry about the internals which could be junk.
As long as it’s cast iron...
Ok, got it 😅😂
Cast iron makes for good pumps?? Not the internals, quality, time company has been around, design....nothing matters but cast iron..
This guy's a clueless dipshit, ignore him. What a fucking waste of time.

I guess no one has ever heard of water cooling
Cast iron = good, Dit-kah!
Not cast iron = bad, not Dit-kah
Daaah Bearssss!
Da bears!!

Me too, I am done with Zoeller garbage! It is cast iron too, just like a boat anchor which is what I will use mine for now.
Grrr...heavy good.....hmmm..plastic bad. Good grief....
Waste of time
You didn't mention a single brand. 👎
exactly, what a fucking retard!!! Can hardly see the names on some of the boxes, and he never names them.
Haha even plumbing guys know about global warming
Global warming ended years ago, they've moved on to climate change and now climate crisis... catch up with the fear mongering already, you're lagging.
