I just tried Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster The sharpness on Base-PS5 even with 30fps mode and standing still, doesnt come near the PS5-Pro sharpness, even when PS5-pro is on 120fps mode. The 120fps mode looks so clean like real-4k. PSSR is a real game changer.

GTA 6 might well be worth it from a Fidelity standpoint, but since it's an open world game and the CPU is the same (just with a minor bump in clock frequency) I think the chances of that game running at 60FPS on either console is slim to none.
GT7 still doesn’t have the pro version, and you need to enable VRR so the game can render at higher resolution (even on base PS5), without VRR the game drops to 1440p.
PSSR is exclusive to Pro because the 5Pro has hardware which has 300TOPS(Tera Operations Per Second)of ML performance which is what PSSR uses to upscale the image rather than using the PS5 Pro's GPU. PS5's GPU has 30 to 50 TOPS. PS5 has no dedicated ML acceleration hardware. It's like trying to run DLSS to a non RTX card and you would get 30fps less from the get go.
The fact that the PS5 Pro with a stand, a disc drive, a dual sense edge and a pulse elite cost the same amount of money as a 4K 360Hz QD-OLED just shows how fucking ridiculously out of their mind Sony and PlayStation really are they seriously huffing that Bobby brown go-go gas they're on some looney tunes dickory and bullshittery toon force with this one

I have been playing around with the Pro for a few days now, installed the drive, stand, got all my PS4/PS5 games loaded and tested, and I absolutely love the Pro, and the added storage. Money is no object and for me, I say money well spent as I am a console only gamer and needed to replace my launch digital PS5 as back in 2020 could not find a disc PS5, and it allows me to retire my PS4 Pro since many of my PS4 games are physical. It probably is not needed for all gamers but I am fine with it.
The Crew Motofest was the one game that I was waiting to see gameplay of and I have to say, it really does look so much sharper. Now it's something I just may have to pull the trigger on.
I was waiting for the ps5 pro for gta6 but the 700$ cost turned me down. I bought a ps5 slim disc version after the pro launched because it seemed better value and i got a 120$ discount on it as well. Great value for me and ill prob sell it too when gta 6 comes for pc
On GT7 when you put it on 120hz mode you still had prioritize frame rate selected.... Thats why it looked terrible lol. You need to change that to prioritize ray tracing/resolution and then it will play true 4k@120hz. Been confirmed by a few already lol
Can confirm. GT7 on my pro in resolution mode looks good and holds 120fps. Can fall to about 100 in intense races with many cars on screen. I hope they let us keep the base PS5 Res mode or give us an updated 120fps mode. All I hear about are Ray Tracing and 8k. Neither I really care about.
Not impressed with the Pro, it's Sony trying so hard to brainwash players into accepting their ridiculous pricing on PD store. Here's my testing with my PS5 Pro so far 1. Final fantasy rebirth. PSSR is a huge upgrade for this title. You finally get playable frame rates in near 4k fidelity. This is the only viable way to play this title 2. Spiderman Miles Morales. PSSR upgrades the performance mode where you also get a near 4k resolution while getting performance mode playable frames. Hard for me to tell that game was upscaled. Best of both worlds with the ps5 pro. Ray tracing also still looks great. 3. Monster Hunter World. Resolution does not get upgraded since it is not a PSSR title BUT the 30 fps fidelity mode is more stable and I didnt experience frame rate drops like I did with the PS5 base. I turned on frame generation on my Sony Bravia TV (Sony MotionFlow). And it now plays like a dream in the resolution (fidelity) mode since you get stable frames in the best resolution Final Verdict: PS5 Pro is a huge upgrade for me. I DO NOT want to go back to PS5 base. If I had to do it again, Id buy the PS5 Pro and sell my PS5 base. Sony TV's MotionFlow plus PS5 Pro is a big brain combination
no offense but those games are already old an remastered several times over they are easy to update or not updated and say we added reflections. If you want to reply those games again or thats your first time maybe its an okay buy but in terms of other games not made specifically for that like war hammer and wu kong its not going to run that much different for a a difference. also its 2024 they shouldn't be giving you guys 30 fps in these games and you guys should be happy. You just said ff got its update and its more playable but get stuck with monster hunter doing 30 doesn't make much sense for difference or upgrade. Also for near 4k its basically the same thing it will scale up to 1800p when you are basically standing still not doing anything in a busy area(but leave the background at lower resolution) and scale down all the way to 864p when you start actually doing stuff. The ps5 was doing the same exact thing

Something to note is that the liquid metal cooling the cpu has been leaking out from the cpu and cooler in PS5s that have spent their life in the vertical position leading to overheating and damage, if you're spending this much on a ps5 pro I highly recommend keeping it in the horizontal position to increase the longevity of the console :)
Source? I remember hearing this a few months after launch and it being shortly debunked by multiple testers. The cooler has a seal that was designed to be used in both positions without failure, the ones that had leakage were determined effective already and would've leaked if sat on a mild incline anyways.

OK think about this. The pro comes with 2tb of storage, WIFI 7, the pretty impressive PSSR tech. If you add 1tb of storage to any of the standard PS5s, you are much closer to the asking price of the pro, let alone the extra tech you get. A rip off? Not really.
Without the ability to buy used games, even a standard console can no longer compete with the long term price of an equivalent PC. That's before considering the pro is £700 🤦
Please people. Whoever has ps5 pro don't put it vertical vidout a stand or some homemade stand for it. The botom side is where it sucks the cool air in when it's in vertical!! If you put it flush without something to create space in between it won't be able to suck cool air in and it will overheat as you'll cover most of the holes in the air duct system!
I've decided to bail on this and just finally make the jump and chuck in a 2TB SSD in my normal PS5. When the time comes I'll make sure to sign up on waiting list for the PS6 as I did before PS5 launch so I hopefully will get it on release, again. Performance have never been my negative with the PS5 so I'm completely fine with that. For me it's been more the catalogue of games which is a two sided issue both from the perspective of Sony but also as an industry issue as more and more games are simply getting worse and worse.
I do love that some games have been updated to have quality and performance made into one now and dont have to choose between the two. Spiderman takes fidelity mode to another level and it looks so good 👍
Don't be too concerned with the internal resolution before PSSR. PSSR makes it not important. Pro is sharper at 60fps than base is at 30fps. PSSR is exclusive to the Pro, because the Pro has dedicated Machine Learning Hardware,. PSSR is software that is designed for and requires dedicated hardware.
It’s crazy that Digital foundry have said in stellar blade 1440p pssr upscaled to 4k looks better than the native 4k mode. PSSR is one of the biggest differentiator.
if you want to compare refresh rate its best to do so on PC where you have better control via Mouse. It will be so obvious you will never go back to 60.

FSR and XeSS are the only upscaling solution that does not use custom hardware to run, while DLSS and PSSR (and specific XeSS version) uses custom hardware to run. That is why PSSR is only available in PS5 Pro, because the base PS5 does not have the custom hardware to support it.
3:46 It actually does have proprietary hardware within it to make PSSR work. It functions similarly to Nvidia's DLSS 3 which requires their tensor cores to do the AI upscale. So the PS5 Pro likely has some cores on top of the upgraded gpu to make PSSR work.

I have always bought the best systems at launch everytime, but this is the most underwhelming for the cost maybe ever. Its at the point where if you dont load up game recently on normal ps5 you would never know the difference. Where pro consoles last gen even were night and day with framerate boosts or 4k.
You do realize the consoles just came out, it will take weeks or months to update for the rest of the games out there to run at full potential. Just like new games that came out takes time to update at full potential. You cant expect it to be at full potential out of the box right away.
The disc drive on the base PS5 is built in as part of the unit so it behaves like a normal conventional optical drive. On the Pro the detachable disc drive has it’s own software that needs to be updated and requires internet connection to function, so in the future there’s a chance it won’t work.
enjoying mine, mostly hyped for the psvr2 GT7 pro update, only really worth gettin this is you have a really good tv and game a lot, double the memory space so can cram loads of games 😂💪
@ i think it’s more to do with reprojection and refresh rate , it’s at 90hrz atm i think but 120hrz would sweet, perfect example would be on le mans, on the game currently it takes a while for the trees to render in but either way the enhanced version it wouldn’t be struggling to make them appear just as you come upto them, basically making it more “immersive” if that makes sense sorry 😂

most game will need a patch to support new features and hardware to get those high res more texture, so it will come and then the difference will be there for people looking at benchmarks etc. , some game has initial patch they will need more updates for the tech to work, like it happened with earlier ray tracing , dlss.

PSSR is what the new proprietary GPU was developed around displaying best, so while it definitely could work on the base PS5 it probably wouldn't look as good as FSR 3.3 while being more expensive. But yeah honestly the only reason I'm getting the Pro is Monster Hunter Wilds

If you want to reply those games again or thats your first time maybe its an okay buy but in terms of other games not made specifically for that like war hammer and wu kong its not going to run that much different for a a difference. also its 2024 they shouldn't be giving you guys 30 fps in these games and you guys should be happy. You just said ff got its update and its more playable but get stuck with monster hunter doing 30 doesn't make much sense for difference or upgrade.
Also for near 4k its basically the same thing it will scale up to 1800p when you are basically standing still not doing anything in a busy area(but leave the background at lower resolution) and scale down all the way to 864p when you start actually doing stuff. The ps5 was doing the same exact thing

Something to note is that the liquid metal cooling the cpu has been leaking out from the cpu and cooler in PS5s that have spent their life in the vertical position leading to overheating and damage, if you're spending this much on a ps5 pro I highly recommend keeping it in the horizontal position to increase the longevity of the console :)
Source? I remember hearing this a few months after launch and it being shortly debunked by multiple testers. The cooler has a seal that was designed to be used in both positions without failure, the ones that had leakage were determined effective already and would've leaked if sat on a mild incline anyways.

OK think about this. The pro comes with 2tb of storage, WIFI 7, the pretty impressive PSSR tech. If you add 1tb of storage to any of the standard PS5s, you are much closer to the asking price of the pro, let alone the extra tech you get. A rip off? Not really.
Without the ability to buy used games, even a standard console can no longer compete with the long term price of an equivalent PC. That's before considering the pro is £700 🤦

I've decided to bail on this and just finally make the jump and chuck in a 2TB SSD in my normal PS5. When the time comes I'll make sure to sign up on waiting list for the PS6 as I did before PS5 launch so I hopefully will get it on release, again.
Performance have never been my negative with the PS5 so I'm completely fine with that. For me it's been more the catalogue of games which is a two sided issue both from the perspective of Sony but also as an industry issue as more and more games are simply getting worse and worse.

Don't be too concerned with the internal resolution before PSSR. PSSR makes it not important. Pro is sharper at 60fps than base is at 30fps. PSSR is exclusive to the Pro, because the Pro has dedicated Machine Learning Hardware,. PSSR is software that is designed for and requires dedicated hardware.
It’s crazy that Digital foundry have said in stellar blade 1440p pssr upscaled to 4k looks better than the native 4k mode. PSSR is one of the biggest differentiator.

FSR and XeSS are the only upscaling solution that does not use custom hardware to run, while DLSS and PSSR (and specific XeSS version) uses custom hardware to run. That is why PSSR is only available in PS5 Pro, because the base PS5 does not have the custom hardware to support it.

3:46 It actually does have proprietary hardware within it to make PSSR work. It functions similarly to Nvidia's DLSS 3 which requires their tensor cores to do the AI upscale. So the PS5 Pro likely has some cores on top of the upgraded gpu to make PSSR work.

The disc drive on the base PS5 is built in as part of the unit so it behaves like a normal conventional optical drive. On the Pro the detachable disc drive has it’s own software that needs to be updated and requires internet connection to function, so in the future there’s a chance it won’t work.
As a FPS Shooter who only plays call of duty its defo not worth it for me 🤷♂️

@ i think it’s more to do with reprojection and refresh rate , it’s at 90hrz atm i think but 120hrz would sweet, perfect example would be on le mans, on the game currently it takes a while for the trees to render in but either way the enhanced version it wouldn’t be struggling to make them appear just as you come upto them, basically making it more “immersive” if that makes sense sorry 😂

The sharpness on Base-PS5 even with 30fps mode and standing still, doesnt come near the PS5-Pro sharpness, even when PS5-pro is on 120fps mode.
The 120fps mode looks so clean like real-4k. PSSR is a real game changer.

most game will need a patch to support new features and hardware to get those high res more texture, so it will come and then the difference will be there for people looking at benchmarks etc. , some game has initial patch they will need more updates for the tech to work, like it happened with earlier ray tracing , dlss.

PSSR is what the new proprietary GPU was developed around displaying best, so while it definitely could work on the base PS5 it probably wouldn't look as good as FSR 3.3 while being more expensive. But yeah honestly the only reason I'm getting the Pro is Monster Hunter Wilds
