Glad you explained that watching on a smaller screen, on a non oled, and probably compresssed footage, you won’t notice the difference. This is not a console for a person that has a cheap Walmart tv, or playing on a 30-40” gaming monitor. You can’t bottleneck the quality yourself, then act like they look the same lol so I’m glad you pointed that out to your audience. Although, it seems by the comments that they still don’t comprehend it 🤣
The big issue with these Enhanced consoles is the requirement for Game Devs to patch in support. With PCs, when you upgrade your hardware, you simply get to crank up the sliders and enjoy the new hardware. So many games will end up not being patched which further limits the benefits of upgrading. FF7 Rebirth has ZERO excuse for not supporting FSR 2 on the base PS5. PS5 Pro wasn't required to achieve the better quality on Performance mode.
Not true. There is still driver support needed to support some features in these games on PC. While yes, you can crank up the slider...that doesn't mean the game will support the features from the new GPU which mostly cost more then the total package of the PS5 Pro. PS5 games also work out of the box without being patched and brute force so yall get better performance, resolution of scharper image quality/textures.
@Bluestar1079 nothing you watch or play uses that standard. It's very niche still and really won't be giving you a whole lot of use for a while. Again I've been in broadcasting for years, and really 4k is still only used in select situations, most of the stuff you see is 4k but some especially local broadcasting and anything not a movie is 1080i 59fps by default and is what broadcast servers are set to run.
@@NathanCundiff just being sarcastic. I'm right there with you. I'll never forget the time when we had to switch the feed of a football game from the 4K feed back to standard. So we could broadcast a tornado warning on the text crawl. Didn't turn off the game just switched the feed. People called in complaining. Talking about how much they paid for their 4K TVs. That tornado completely destroyed a local school btw
I bought one myself. See I bought it as a curiosity, Already own a Slim model. Compared the two side by side. If there wasn't a noticeable difference I'd just return it, no harm, no foul. 10:51 No. It's the perfect example of why GAME OPTIMIZATION does need to exist. Maybe if they stop pushing for extreme "GWAPHIX" and a resolution the PS5 can't handle, it'd fix all performance issues! All the PS5 Pro does is dramatically increase the new minimum graphical standards, the LAST thing we fcn need. Modern games are alrdy horribly optimized if at all. We don't need them to be EVEN more graphically intense just to add on another 5 years to development time and a few hundred million $$$ more in the budget These extreme standards are why 9th gen is barebones. All the "Next Gen" games are still years away from release bcuz they take so long to make, and the ones that are released, are HARDLY a visual improvement! We don't need a PS5 Pro, we need better optimized games and more games in general! Remember when "Next Gen" meant a massive visual leap? Well now it's becoming a massive hardware requirement leap with very little visual improvement. You think PS5 was bad? The PS6 is gonna have the same issues as PS5, but amplified
The exciting thing will be seeing games that have had the Pro devkit available for years during development, instead of having Pro support tacked on near the end of it. Optimization for future games is absolutely part of what you're paying for.
@@HermesderWetterbote Not very many games are CPU bound, so it's not much of a problem. What makes you think that developers won't optimize future titles for the Pro? If they bothered to add it onto a bunch of older games already, they will certainly do it moving forward.
@@nicodimus2222 because they have to be developped with the bigger user base of the normal ps5 in mind. so the pro will always only get higher resolution, framerate or better Raytracing. the ram is too similar for better textures, the cpu is the same. so there can be no other improvements than higher graphical settings. and games like space marines 2, eldenring or hogwarts legacy are already cpu limited. even on the ps5 pro you cant get stable 60fps in Eldenring, a game from 2022... 😅

@@nicodimus2222 yes, i never said it is a bad machine. it is just waay overpriced for what it delivers. in most cases the better Framerate is like 2 to 5 fps... 😅 the better Raytracing is nice but its used in very few games and still not good enough for full path tracing like a rtx 4060 can deliver. and the resolution difference is very hard to notice. you need to be very close to the screen. like when gaming on a monitor instead of a television. a competitive price would be 500$ with the disc drive included and the ps5 slim should be down to 300$. For 700€, in europe, i can build a stronger pc so the value is completely off.
I love how the longer this video goes on, Wood looses the ability steadily to say performance and then just looses all concept of the word and says pre-formance 😂 anyways, nice video dude!
Im glad you made the point about the 2tb ssd. People just ignore it for some reason, as if that isnt an upgrade in itself. Also that the stand isnt necessary either. This console is expensive af but it's also not for everyone. But for the ones who need that extra framerate, this seems to do just that.
$900, for minimal visual improvement. PROs need to go away. Takes too long to make 4k games anyway. Wait Gen. to Gen. for a bigger visual difference. More worth it.

Yeah, as your Future Self insert said, the only thing I saw was the Pro was more washed out. It’s one of those things that you need the new product to see the increased quality of the new product - the old display tech can’t reflect the new better display performance.

@@jimmyjohn6479 At the "secret" demo Nintendo had showcasing the next console's capabilities, that's what was said to be the case. Also, Nintendo probably has the biggest library of original IPs. It's not just Mario
It's just a waste of money if you already got a PS5 in my opinion. 60 fps is nice, but I'm totally fine with 30.. If people care for performance, they should just get a PC. There aren't true exclusives anymore anyway. All games come to PC eventually.

Because it feels good to game with this yknow. If i want something as good as a ps5 ill eventually switch to a pc, but idk man i feel you when you said this was an underwhelming gen. I just cant with playstation anymore(or xbox) . Plus scalpers just took the fun out of ps5 originally when it launched.
Honestly stepping over to a PC made me fall in love with gaming again. There are so many more games available, particularly excellent indies. And when it comes to performance and graphics you can get way better on PC if that's a thing you denjoy.
People really overlooked this, but unless you have an expensive OLED TV Display, the PS5 Pro is literally not worth the money at that moment. So it's recommended to buy an OLED display first before buying the Pro, or you are better off saving more to buy a PC setup that can give a better experience. The PSSR is absolutely useless on an LCD 1080p display
@ Well, there are tens of thousands of games on Steam, going all the way back to games from the 90’s. It has more games than any console ever. And honestly pretty much all new xbox exclusives and most ps exclusives are coming to pc anyway, with the added bonus that they usually look and run better too. Because it is so successful Sony is releasing its new games on PC faster and faster, but personally don’t even care about that. I have too many games to play to begin with. I can easily wait
I love your videos. Keep up the good work. My opinion on PS5 is that I will just stay with the PS5 slim because it works for me. As far as the eject button goes, I don't even use that. I just used the eject option on screen with my controller.
Indeed....I would go far enough to argue that only Nintendo consoles are truly worth the cost these days due to the large amount of exclusive content they offer. It was literally what I did over a year ago when I got my tax refund. I had the option of getting a PS5 or a laptop. I chose the laptop and I don't regret it
Honestly none of this would be an issue if AAA teams just gave devs more time to optimise their games.... they made a whole console based on fixing poor in house practices
These prices might be the new norm for systems. Remember when we got up in arm for games being $70 now. We don’t talk about it anymore. Might as well get use to it.
It is not about getting used to it but about affordability. If ps6 is 800eur/USD then it will be most likely a niche product. The whole concept of console was to be affordable and mass adopted.
To be fair, i think the main reason we don't talk about it anymore is due to the (current) few that actually do it Sony said they would, and they have Activision did and have Ubi have for a few but most games still haven't increased and continue to sit around the $60 / £60 mark gotta hope it stays that way
Not worth the money - there is a reason that Scalpers are making a loss with trying to flip this Electronic. 1 way to make something that can't be considered a Console, is via removing the Disc Drive, Ya'know, the one thing that makes a Console a Console
To be fair.. If GTA 6 or something got PS5 Pro footage next to the reveal it would've sold out everywhere. I think people are just waiting until they see more.

@ I think people should just enjoy games and if they want there games to run better buy this. I think all the negativity and complaining is more an issue than the actual price or what it comes with. Every time a video game company announces anything these days 50% of gamers having negative things to say about it no matter what it is. Just enjoy the thing. If this things doesn’t make sense to buy for you don’t buy it and move on. IMO
Just blows my mind on how so many people seem to have this kind of money to spend, in this type of economy. Coming from someone who works allllll the time and lives on her own. I can’t afford a $1000 plus console. This is insane.
This literally barely looks any different from the original PS5, I get the feeling of wanting better graphics but this wasn’t worth it and you can barely even tell the difference. Only the graphics people will want to buy this and RUclipsrs who got $800+ as chump change.
Rumors has it around 2028. So at least 3 years of better looking, better running games I think is worth it when you can sell your old PS5 to recoup some of the cost.
And?? That doesn't necessarily mean everyone is gonna upgrade to a ps6. There are people who are still on last Gen that are currently getting into current gen
The only difference I've seen that has actually had a HUGE improvement are the third party studios, particularly FF7 Rebirth which really needed it. But there is 0 difference from their first party studios cause they already look good since they know about the PS5 capabilities inside and out.
One of the best reviews of the PlayStation 5 Pro and real world circumstances and actual average consumer not low end but average where you at least have a 4K TV with 120 HZ. If you don't have that, you shouldn't really buying PlayStation 5 Pro without the TV upgrade in mind. I watch one of you other videos before and I loved it, but this one's got a subscribe right here
My eyes sparked when the PS5 pro advertisement mentioned that this new console would make this choice between qualitiy and performance mode disappear but based on this video I only see the options grew in some cases, never decreased.
The conclusion is spot on, this is what we should have gotten from the beginning of the generation. You can’t stick 8K on a box and then expect people to forget about it when you realized you couldn’t fulfill it and you certainly can’t market a downgrade like “disc-free” as something good.
Or…. Hear me out. Just buy a midrange pc because not only do actually enhanced versions of these already “pro” games when they come to pc (it’s happening faster and faster now as well) but you can play thousands of games that aren’t on console, no online subscriptions, use any controller and will not lock you out of your library in the “next gen” This console would have been an amazing €600 steal. My 4 year old rtx 2070 max q gaming laptop can still play Metro Exodus in 1440p 60fps with raytracing
@AdAstra78 only someone who doesn't have a PC or isnt technical would say that if im being honest. Pcs can be smaller than the base ps5 model, they are also far quieter. Can come in pretty much any shape or size, customised to your needs and can be set up to use apps like Playnite or Steam Big Picture so you have a console like experience on boot and never have to interact with windows.
@Trinket_Master I have a few friends who game on PCs. I'm not going to knock them, but they do seem to involve quite a lot of tinkering. As someone who hates computers, they're just not a realistic alternative to sitting back on the sofa, pressing a single button and you're away. I think that's true for many.

Maybe, if they do a really sick ghost of yōtei limited edition, that also includes plates for the disk drive, maybe then. Otherwise I don't really see a reason to upgrade I'd rather give my pc a fresh new 7 9800x 3d, when they actually launch them.

20:50 IMO I think what we really should have been getting are games that are optimized and bug free for the system they're made for. This idea that a game is too demanding and that you need a better console to run it well is terrible. The game should just not run poorly. So the fact that you can somewhat justify the PS5 Pro as an upgrade is actually somewhat terrible.
A near $1000 console that might be around for 3-5 years and only plays PS4/5 games vs. a $1200-$1500 PC that will last 10+ years, play every generation of game and future games on top of non-gaming functionality.

PS5 games also work out of the box without being patched and brute force so yall get better performance, resolution of scharper image quality/textures.
lmao that video editing is priceless good , thanks for the laugh :)
So this is basically an "only if you have the money to throw around" type of upgrade? Fair enough, in this economy.
Just an idiot!
You'll never convince me to buy that thing
I'm a broadcaster in Television... 8k is a sales gimmick. That standard isn't realistic at all.
Most games couldn't even run 30fps on 8k res. Totally bs
Well that's definitely a lie. I'm about to order my 8K TV right now. Using my blazing fast 5G. I'm sure I'm getting my 20 Gbps.
Didn't they stop making 8k tvs a couple of years ago? 😂
Once I saw how much cleaner and sharper everything was on the pro. The slim got boxed up and was sold on FBMP to offset the cost a little bit.

We don't need them to be EVEN more graphically intense just to add on another 5 years to development time and a few hundred million $$$ more in the budget
These extreme standards are why 9th gen is barebones.
Optimization for future games is absolutely part of what you're paying for.
there will be nothing like that 😅 and in all games where the cpu is the limiting factor there's almost no improvement at all 😅
@@HermesderWetterbote Not very many games are CPU bound, so it's not much of a problem.
@@HermesderWetterbote "Only get higher resolution, framerate or better raytracing" So basically everything that the PS5 needs for games to perform and look better? You're making my case for me. Thanks!
2:38 No its Playstation 5 PROfit. 💰💰💰
Im glad you made the point about the 2tb ssd. People just ignore it for some reason, as if that isnt an upgrade in itself. Also that the stand isnt necessary either. This console is expensive af but it's also not for everyone. But for the ones who need that extra framerate, this seems to do just that.
If the Ps5 Pro was 1tb, I would have stayed on my PS5, but the Pro is 2tb and it is a bit better in performance, so I am very happy with it.
$900, for minimal visual improvement. PROs need to go away. Takes too long to make 4k games anyway. Wait Gen. to Gen. for a bigger visual difference. More worth it.
@@YoursInYeshua Thats what pc games do all the time, and a good graphics card costs even more then ps5 pro. People really overlooked this, but unless you have an expensive OLED TV Display, the PS5 Pro is literally not worth the money at that moment.
