I have never learned how to study, because School was always extremely easy for me, and even college was very easy for me. I basically only opened my math textbook and simply listened to lectures for all other classes, and it did very well. Learning how to study, the Bible has been a challenge, because it actually does require us to study it and dig into the deeper meanings in order to truly understand not only what is being said but in the context of the culture of the time. I have enjoyed your videos because it’s like going to Bible college, but doesn’t cost me anything :-)

I am bilingual, I started learning about the Bible in spanish so now I have decided to do it in english since I am now going to an english speaking church. I have read many translations but I always try to stay in Word for word however since I’m a beginner in this language I am sticking with CSB because that was the one that called to me and I seem to understand better. Someday I hope I can study it in other translations.

I’m praying that I get really in depth with reading the word I try little by little but I know I need to spend more time in the word. It’s crazy but the way how you mentioned about looking at other versions of bibles is what I plan on doing. I have a women’s study Bible that I been reading out of plus a ton of other bibles because it will help me but I am praying I get more in depth. I also found another ladies page that will help me read the Bible in a year. So I believe that will help get me started. The devil trying to keep me from his word but he can’t hold me down much longer because God is faithful and so good he deserve all the praise.

Tim holtz could be like book binding tape. I don’t own any, but would love to get some. I also add tip ins to my Bible. I bought a note takers because I have so many notes for my Bible and I can’t tip on every single sheet interleaved 😊I use 1/8” double side sticky tape and also cut transparent paper like tracing and also tomoe River paper to keep it from getting too thick. That gets added to the inside binding just like an interleaved page. Sometimes I write chapters on 1 verse because we are linking the old with the new and word for word in proper context and like a tree with roots that branch out in different directions you can get so many different things from 1 verse.

The arrows drive me crazy as well. So instead I just write down the number of the verse that I'm talking about in my notes. For instance, in Genesis chapter 6:4 I noted the descendants of Anak were known to be very tall. To remind myself where the verse is found in the Bible I write 6:4 either before or after the notation.

Hello my name is Toni. I feel like I've missed out on so much in my first 53yrs of life. My parents weren't religious, so I didn't grow up with religion or go to church regularly at any time in my life. Last year I was 53, homeless and back in drugs. I had pretty much lost relationships with my 3 kids and I came to the point of not caring anymore and I was tired of fighting to survive. Not to mention I'm disabled and can't walk far. There were many nights I went without food because i did have money or food stamps to have something delivered to where I was staying, which was my son's broke down car that was parked at the shop he used to work. There wasn't really anything close enough for me to walk to so I could buy day food. The closest little store was about 3 blocks away, I know that doesn't sound far, but like I said I'm disabled and can't wait that far. This was last summer and my son's car I lived in has electric windows the problem was that there wasn't a battery in the car to be able to roll the windows up or down. Also the car was in the sun 75% of the time the sun out. I've already taken so much of your time, let me get to what I'm trying to get to. After my 2nd attempt of suicide I was placed in a mental hospital in Sacramento CA, about 60 miles north of where I live. After being there almost 2 weeks when I was rushed to ER and admitted into the hospital with kidney stones, air in my bladder and a severe UTI doctor thought it was septic. When I was discharged from there they found me a place to go so I wasn't back on the streets. The place they found for me to go was Modesto Gospel Mission about 100 south of Sacramento so they drove me there. The mission has devotionals 7 nights a week from 7-8pm so when I got there it was during that time and I'm thinking this is not the place for me. Not having religion in my life if someone asked me if I believe in God my response was always "yes, I have my own beliefs I don't need anyone else preaching my theirs". After being there a little over a week I started to open my mind to God and accepted Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior that was about this time last year. Things started happening, I felt an inner peace I had never felt before and I loved it. I was baptized October 16th, last year. But like I said I feel I lost out on so much my first 53yrs of life not knowing His greatness and what Jesus went through so we would be forgiven. Honestly I haven't been in my Bible much lately, I don't like reading and never have, because I can read something over and over and not understand but show me how it's done once and I got it. I've lost that inner peace I felt and want to get back in my Bible. Right now I am staying at a nursing facility for wound care and I've been here since Feb. I was receiving $1133 a month from SSI but since I'm here and don't have bills I'm only getting $59 a month could you please suggest ways a person like me can learn HOW to study the Bible and some extremely inexpensive tools I need for Bible study? I don't want to lose faith, which I feel is already happening. PLEASE HELP ME HOWEVER YOU CAN!!! I've taken up enough of your time. Thank you for reading this really long message and I hope I didn't bore you. I had a large print Bible that was given to me at the mission but it wasn't in my belongings when I left. I have glasses so I can see the small print most of the time. But any advice and/or tools you can tell me about, I will gratefully appreciate and accept. Thank you, God bless

I started Bible journaling this week, plus I just got a new Bible and Niv journaling Bible I do like ESV more than NIV but the translation is easier as a girlie who love Jesus and loves the Bible, although I like the ESV more because it challenges me more, and I want or maybe need a Interleaved Bible because it'll give me more room but the plan is to make this Bible a Study Bible so my family and I can look back into it, and Bible journaling helps me get into the word and I honestly don't love using notebooks anymore.
tip: write out a summary the day after you read the Chapter, it helps me to remember what I studied and learn, like writing it in your own word on a lined piece of paper and paper clipping it in.

I'd highly recommend, for your New Testament studies, throwing this translation into the mix and reading about how it was developed: NTE (New Testament for Everyone)! It's different from many others in that N. T. Wright exegeted the Greek *before* translating it into English. (Most translators translate, then exegete the English text and check back at the Greek as they see the need.)

Enjoying your videos! A few thoughts…..It is amazing that you are able to put linen washi tape, on a page, while holding it mid air, and have it come out straight. That’s a little bit like walking a plank blindfolded. In your videos, you will sometimes point to a previous note and mention how helpful it was. I’d enjoy seeing a video about how you approach old notes, overall, when starting a new chapter. Do you skim them beforehand, read the passage first and then look over the notes, or look at the notes verse by verse.

Find a used older edition websters dictionary if you opt to use a dictionary . Words are being incorrectly redefined in newer editions to fit narritives

Great video! I'm getting an ESV, on your recommendation - already have the NLT and NKJV! As a junk journaler I'm familiar with the wonderful Tim Holtz and his products - it DOES look like Jim though, no shame there! :-)

I think my comment got deleted for accidently including an external link. Woops! Fabric tape is awesome for covering book covers (ie. linen ones) to cover up spills on them! It comes in 4inch wide versions too. I ordered some librarian tape...I LOVE that it is see through! Thank you!!! I SO APPRECIATE your pile upon pile of books. My desk looks like this, 2-3 layers, then my lap,... then the floor. I know Logos software could do the same thing on one screen but I agree with you Faith! I'm all about the paper books! 😊 thanks for sharing your process. 🤗

ooh I found that linen tape on amazon! think it's higher though- 9 something. I wonder how hard it would be to use double sided tape and use our own fabric.... so cool. I love watching you create - I'm so rushed LOL!

I love seeing the notes that you add to your Bible, I love to do this too although much less proficiently! I do have a theological question about this verse though. You said that John was written expecting that readers would have read the other Gospels already. Back in the days that these books of the Bible were written, no one expect the authors and higher ups were able to read the writings. Do you mean that those early Christians would have been exposed to these writings prior to John’s? I’ve always been interested in the idea/reality that no one during OT or early NT times was carrying around a Bible. How blessed we are to have access to so many translations and resources.

Hi Faith! Love this video sooo much!! Since you have tested so many products in your Bible. Do you have any tips on using/testing supplies like pens, colours, glue, paper and tapes for archivability/ longterm preservation? Apart from testing in your Bible itself to find out, are there any ingredients or type of materials we should just avoid? Planning on migrating to a new Bible in 2024 (tips on migrating over are welcome as well!!) and want to make sure I'm well set up for the longterm!

Thanks Faith! I have the DA Carson book on John and it’s amazing. Do you have a commentary recommendation only on the Book of Mark too? Especially one that speaks about the controversial ending as you’ve mentioned in prior videos. If you could make a video on commentary recommendations just for certain books on the Bible I would love that! Thanks again.
