Hi there! I am a professional landscape designer, please do not make the front plant beds smaller🙏 the larger the better. You do not want to plant your shrubs too close to your house ...those hydrangea in your previous pic are at least 5’ round prepare for the plants to grow and you don’t want them touching the house, and you want layering with flowers so you will need the space. Also the tree included will look much better. The larger the beds the larger your house looks, there must be balance 😍

As much as I love your home in L.A. - there is something so very special about this cottage. I'm not sure if its because I love Victorian architecture and design or if its because you did so much of the renovation and construction yourself, but I absolutely love this cottage. It has so much character and the decor you have incorporated so far is just gorgeous. I love that you preserved and used materials from the original structure and I love all the vintage elements. Can't wait for this cottage to be completed. (I am obsessed with the art work in your entry.)

NO never Block the AC heating unit. It will stop working quickly, not last past 3 to 5 years because it needs open air for the motor and blades to move and work correctly. Not even a wooden or plastic panels, no shrubbery, no trees, nothing should Block this unit. Good luck if you do, you will regret that decision and soon too. I LOVE all the other ideas and plans though! You 2 rock!!! Bless you and much love to you and on Valentines Day! 💝

Now is about the right time to prune your roses, early spring cut them down to about 6 inches, they'll grow back to their height now but will produce a lot more roses. If you cut your ferns all the way down to the dirt it will come back! Just fertilize everything. Hope you feel better

Recommend staining back porch - more durable than paint & can get shade to match front porch. Would also advise against separating tree in front from rest of flower bed. The less you have to mow around, the better. Once you get shrubs, etc. in place you'll see that bed won't look so big with the tree included in it.

Our ferns alway "die" but they always come back in the spring. Yours might too. Just trim off all the dead stuff and water. they may start coming back once it warms up a bit. We live in Alabama.

  • @dreadsndogs4406
    @dreadsndogs4406 Год назад +20

Your ferns aren't dead. They typically hibernate when it's cold i.e the leaves will wither but the plant itself is still alive and will spring back up once it gets warmer. At least that's what ours do here in Sweden.

hi mackenna, drink antibacterial tea - oregano, thyme, clove, sage or rosemary, peppermint, lemon, add ginger and chamomile for anti-inflammatory. cinnamon and tumeric too. simmer it on the stovetop so you have a bulk amount. it real helps clear you out so you can sleep, and stops the coughing.

Don't forget a entrance you can get things like heavy packages in and threw your house. You still have possible large items like bathtubs coming. Then in the future you could have new furniture pieces or if appliances break. Example at you gate you need a type of gradual slop maybe a poured colored concert that a dolly or wheel charge ,.... Baby stroller can rool on the steps of your porch you may need to design something that goes to side of porch.

That was my thought too as she was describing the railings. Very annoying having to have to use the front steps. You can make a discreet gate on that end so it's visually railed, but you can pop open the gate and have easier side access. A step and stone slab or pebbles on the ground to avoid dirty feet and it will be much more convenient. I hope she ses this! 😊

You use it to store the cushions over the winter. Well, I have it in the garage with my christmas tree in it. I have a regular tree and a slim tree in it. Then I can put bins on top for other holiday storage. Looks neat and compact and organized.

If you cut the ferns way back in the spring and put them under a tree or somewhere in the shade they will come back! You may need to deadwood them and repot but they can come back from this! I agree with the landscaper about keeping the original footprint to the flowerbeds! It will create a grander entrance and less grass to mow! The bed will look really good with a pine straw or cedar chip underlay! The cedar chips also ward off termites!

McCenna, it is going to be beautiful when it is finished. One thing at a time. The list will get shorter and shorter as you finish each project. Thumbs up for Romeo getting you flowers. That is so sweet. Ask him where Kinsley's flowers are. Can't wait to see the next vlog. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Sorry you’ve been under the weather. I know how downtime feels like, your hole life becomes on hold, but you’ll get better soon to do what you set your mind to do. We all get hiccups along the way and it’s ok, the strength is in how we manage it while nourishing ourselves.

Just an FYI - it is a stove or a range. The oven is the compartment for baking within the stove. Drew makes the same error😂

I would be so inspired if you did a "finish them!" series where you finish all the small jobs to complete a project. everyone on the planet can relate to those things and it would be oh so inspiring.

I highly recommend that you keep the flower bed border large and include the tree. I promise you won’t regret it. Leave space for the mature plant size and fill in with annuals until that happens - between years 3-5. Take good care of yourself and enjoy the process.

Macenna I had a really weird virus during Thanksgiving and just got over it. I was congested in my chest and it seemed to be worse at night. I got tested for everything and tested negative. I just got better and it's February. I didn't think I'd ever get over it. I hope you feel better soon sweetie.

Our family just got over being sick for 2.5 weeks. It was bad. We had pink eye, fevers, ear infections, strep. Literally everything. Whatever is going around this year is ROUGH. I hope you and Romeo start to feel better soon! At some point, the virus will die and you will get better ❤ But definitely rest up and don’t push yourself because that will make it worse. And stressing over not getting better won’t help. Rest up ❤❤

The last 3 years have wreaked havoc on our immune systems not to mention all of the antibacterial overuse we thought would benefit us.
I think antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer, etc has really had a neg affect on people’s immunity/health.

Omg girl, I wish you a speedy recovery so you can get to your home. I can’t help to remember my 150 projects in the house including updating kitchen cabinets and then I kept getting sick and felt real tired and I was so busy I never realized…I was pregnant 😅 8 weeks and I didn’t know; I even said I must be working hard sanding and doing all kinds of stuff my arms feel heavy and my pants don’t fit I am probably eating lots. My kitchen it’s still half way and the baby is walking….that was my worse nightmare 😅😢 🚼🔨🔩
