    Great list! I would not have guessed Gloomhaven/Frosthaven for #1, given that most of the games mentioned earlier were family/gateway games. And it's always refreshing to see Code Names appear whenever top-10 lists are compiled. Love that one!
    My top 10 includes King of Tokyo, Dominion, Champions of Midgard, 7 Wonders, Fortune & Glory, Azul, Cthulhu Wars, and my favorite board game of all time... Cosmic Encounter!
    I haven't played Marvel Champions, Dead of Winter or Everdell yet, but I've heard those are contenders.

    • @niekka1978
      @niekka1978 6 месяцев назад

      It is close to a dm-less rpg with some classic choose your own adventure wibe in it. Less mechanical and requiring planning forward than gloomhaven, thinking it could go well with the family. The sessions might get long, though.

    Pshh- “grandma game.” My grandma f-king played Texas hold’em, and she’d keep my money. I was 12! I don’t what kind of milksop grandmas you guys had. My grandma was always beating me in trivial pursuit (the ‘84 OG edition,) because she knew she could bottleneck me by always burying me in arts and entertainment for my winning question. You’d think something would eventually warm that heart of ice as she repeatedly smoked my pre-teen and teenage self back then. Grandma showed no mercy. God I miss her as I write this. ❤

    • @LegendaryTactics
      @LegendaryTactics  6 месяцев назад +5

      He's got a big collection with quite a variety, and he's played a ton of games. He prioritizes games that land well with many generations of his family, so the heavier strategy games aren't a focus.

      @@LegendaryTactics fair enough, I mean ultimately lists like this are always going to be subjective to the player and an highs they may have had during an experience which may have catapulted it, so i get it, and of the games in which he has picked and I have also played i can see why they have brought joy to him... it's just the addition of 'best of all time'. .... i can't say any of the ones i have played would be anywhere near my own personal favourite games (of all time).

      @@Kevin-rf9rg I'd love to hear your top 10.

    • @Kevin-rf9rg
      @Kevin-rf9rg 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Gastel Hey, well now you're putting me on the spot (i should have expected this after my comment though right). I'd have to think about it really. But again, i'll repeat what i said in an earlier message... when people make 'the best games of all time' games lists like this it is always going to be subjective to a gamers own experiences (the consistency of the highs), and a lot of that will therefore depend on a games 'gaming groups ability and willingness to engage in a array of different types of games'. I actually like some of the games this gentleman has picked i just know i wouldn't personally pick them, it's interesting that he has picked a few games that i would consider fun get together party kind of games (Just, Codenames etc).. quick, easy to pick up games which are relatively easy to teach new players, so if Rusty was my friend i would maybe recommend him something like Avalon, or blood on the clocktower.. even seven wonders... he may also like those games for the same reason (quick, easy to pick up, fun games that can be played with larger groups). He plays a lot of Frosthaven with his children (let's face it, the sheer admin and volume of things going on and set up with pieces with games like this mean they are somewhat limiting,... but he playing with his children so it makes sense, and for that, i understand exactly why he would put this as his favourite games (he has people involved close by and they are experiencing a consistency of engagement, thematics, and highs 'and lows' - which are highs often in retrospective right).. it's just personal, I don't think these games would make my own top 10... off the bat, no doubt i'll miss some.. but games that resonate with me (again, game play, engagement, thematics are important to me.. and i am fortunate to play in numerous groups where complexity isn't a big deal)... Nemesis, Letters of whitechapel (or whitehall mysteries), Arkham Horror the living card game/ Earthborne Rangers (or even Magic, or Netrunner, etc.. though Marvel is fun, i'm more of a campaigner type player). Dune, Great Western Trail, Twlight Imperium, Ark Nova. Feast for Odin, etc etc. again, I would have to really think about it....

      @@Kevin-rf9rg Oh, I almost bought Ark Nova yesterday. What makes it such a good game?
