DRAGON maybe the most expensive headache i had ,either than paying 800 dollars or close to it did not worked with perfection more than 6 monthes, when the summar arrived i stoped it with C90 tdk cassettes ,the SA or chromesuperII from basf it started to make a vibration but if the C60 all was ok so i stoped it and bought a real good deck ,the TEAC Z-7000

I know those belts, they sell by the 100 pack, very useful to tidy up power cables of the units in storage... but the last bundle is sealed with ziptie and wrapped in LD-PE soft sheet, so the back of the units will not be scratched.

Hey there thanks as always for yet another brilliant video - we are lucky to see with our eyes the kind of work that goes into restoring these decks.
My question is how was the W&F result? Did you manage to return to factory spec? Are you using PRB for the ZX-9s or are you having better luck with the Chinese made belts?
    Many thanks 🙏🏻

I installed a Chinese belt in this deck. W&F is in the video. You did not watch it in full and asking :)

Nice thanks for the info. You are right I did not watch until the very end! I stopped at 57:36ish mark when you said thanks and bye bye 😂
The readings I get with PRB and webspareparts are pretty poor - especially in the classic mechanisms. Depending on the deck I get a stable reading somewhere between 0.065 - 0.105 %. Often where possible I would rejuvenate the original belt and reinstall it, then getting better results on or closer to 0.045%. This is the case for many of my decks, 680/ZX-7/682ZX/LX-5/RX-505/BX-300 and others. Luckily my CR-7 sits at around 0.026% (original belt) which makes it my principle deck for recording.
How easily sourced are the belts that you buy? Can they be purchased in small enough quantities, or just in bulk?
      Many thanks again. ✌🏻

Great work. I admire your precision. One minor annoyance- could you improve your voice recording (microphone/level)? I cannot comprehend everything you say because often it sounds like mumbling at low level. Cheers!

I am using an iPhone Pro to record. It does great but I can't always hold it in front of me. Adding an additional mic and recording with another device will mean much more work for me to edit. And investments in the good mic. RUclips is not paying that much. I will have to collect payments from RUclips for 3 months to get enough for a decent mic.

Surprised such an acclaimed deck is not direct drive. Capstan spd relies on a $10 belt LoL

It is a direct drive. What do you mean??? Direct drive mean the motor drives capstan directly. Second capstan always driven with belt with exception of Revox and Nakamichi Dragon. Dragon need it to be capable to do a reverse. Revox did it for fun.
