    After many weeks languishing in my repair/refurbish pile, you gave me inspiration to repair/refurbish my NAK 670ZX. Transport mech came out to renew idler tyre, clean and lubricate the mechanisms, clean and re lubricate capstans, release stuck pinch roller pivot and re lubricate, replace all belts, re assemble.
    Complete renewal of all electrolytic caps on all boards, diagnose no recording down to orange drop capacitors replaced with two hand selected 2.5% wima capacitors, install new UK compliant double insulated power cord.
    Finally re assemble, get test and alignment tapes, and set up. Although not fully calibrated yet, I'm amazed at what a difference there is to the whole unit. Auto azimuth works now, recording much better, clear and crisp on all tape formats.
    Thanks for the inspiration, I really enjoy your work.

    Are you reusing the same packaging materials and box to send the decks back? I can understand that being frustrating because you have to preserve the packaging materials. If not, take scissors, poke one blade through, and cut through the bubble wrap in the center of the deck, cut all the way around, and pull the two halves apart. That method works best for me.

    tip, to remove sticky belt to capstan you can use degreaser, its easly melting belt with no problem, im doing it every time.

    Sorry about the packing Siarhei. I tried to leave tabs at the end of each piece of tape thinking it would make it easier to remove. Apparently it didn't work as planned.

      The sticky take pulls bubble wrap into parts. It never comes up easily, I have to cut it. No problem, you are not alone in doing that :)

    Good morning! I have a Nakamichi Zx7 which unfortunately has a problem: When turned on the right reel makes a few turns, the counter advances and then the green stop light starts to flash. The intermittent rotation of the right reel is cyclical, in a loop. The plate is unusable. I replaced all the belts and adjusted the gear with the cam. Unfortunately the problem persists. Can you give me some suggestions? Greetings from Italy. Thank you!

      Check the +5V supply. I met two decks with unexplainable behavior with the same problem. It happens if the deck was powered on without the front panel attached. I had to replace the zen diode.

      @@hifirulezzz It was the blown F402 fuse. It apparently seemed intact but when checked with the multimeter it was found to be open. Now the cassette deck working. Thank you so much! 🤗

    How often should the deck be serviced?

    • @hifirulezzz
      @hifirulezzz  3 месяца назад

      About 5 to 10 years as belts deteriorate. Good belts and cold storage room - less frequent. Just remember to clean the tape path and demagnetize heads.
