The Scorpion Low Flare goes to show you that everyone is different. I HATE the darned thing. I've tried to like it. Spent a lot of time with it and can't figure it out. I'm using it as a spare ball. Works great there. Beginning most nights with the Hammer Effect Tour and then move to the Roto Grip Hustle X-Ray. It has my standard layout but have thrown a lot of different layouts and can usually get the balls to what I want after a while but not with my Low Flare. Going to throw some surface on it and see if I like it better as I really don't use a spare ball that much.
I agree 100%. I hate that ball and I gave it away. I did use it to shoot 10 pins for a while. I couldn't stand the sight of it and there was a guy rambling on One night in League about how he wished he had one so I handed it to him don't get it out of my bag I don't ever want to see it again.
I said get it out of my bag I don't ever want to see it again. I was going to throw it in the ocean because for some reason it brings me great joy. It would be sitting next to a burgundy urethane hammer and an early storm shiny Asim. That would be on the floor of the ocean 🌊
I think the piranha for me is one of the best medium smooth balls ever made. Hits like a ton of bricks. A step better however is the hitter. I love that shape. To me, the scorpion is one of the worst bowling balls I've ever thrown and gave it away. I match up with solid symmetrical and asymmetrical. The round benchmark style reaction works very well for me. The original danger zone is hands down by far the best match for me ever. I found one new in the box 15 lbs and the guy was asking 1500 for it. I would have given him 500 bucks but he wanted nothing to do with it.
Have both Phase 2 and Shock in my bag for this league season. Can't wait to use them and see what happens after spending all summer working on correcting my release. Thanks for the vid.
Where do you think the pride dynasty fits. I know it’s asym but it’s really not too strong. Do you think it’s closer to medium smooth or strong smooth?
I throw the Primal Shock 2000 grit 1st, ExJ Venom 2nd. Looking for third ball. Was thinking Venom Shock with P5000d surface to give it a tad more length. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
I’ve thrown p2 before i didn’t like but I had a bad pso at the time I’ve got a good one now thought about trying it again but not really sure kinda want to try something new like the gb5 or shock or scorpion low flare but not really sure currently have pin down og idol but it’s too smooth and needs replaced looking for something I can put pin up I’m rh 350 revs roughly 17 mph so I’m not really sure what to get
Loving your content! I don't remember seeing the Motiv Nuclear Forge in any of your arsenal videos. Where would it fit and how would you rank it in its category?
Thanks! It fits somewhere between the strong/sharp category and medium/sharp. The ball is very, very strong for a pearl and very tumbly so I’d consider it in the middle of the pack. IMO, the Hyper Venom is better but fits a vastly different role
@bryanmiller5074 I did not say he did. I was referencing just how good the Phase 2 and Venom Shock are. And E.J. used the Venom Shock for a long time. It pretty much became his signature ball.
What are these ratings based on? A lot of your reasons were “It was fine. It was OK. Looks awesome. This ball is smooth.” Is there any science or data behind the rankings or just opinions?
Based on sales, overall opinions of both amateur and professionals, shelf life, and versatility in the category. For example, the Optimum Idol is an excellent ball. However, the new core/cover combo makes it VERY strong for the category. The Phaze II is more versatile because it can be manipulated to be stronger or weaker and still fit in this category
I disagree with ZVL on this one. I believe the Xponent could easily be in this medium/smooth category for 900 Global, unless discontinued balls are not to be counted.

My Phaze 2 is The Daddy by far. There isn't anything to replace it in my bag. It goes everywhere with me, including my Pitch Black.
I love the Hammer Scorpion Low Flare! It’s one of the most versatile balls I have ever owned.

My medium smooth ball is the Idol Pro it's a little old but on house.

I think it’s closer to medium/smooth, but the upper edge of it. If drilled strong enough, could inch into the strong/smooth slot
Verge Hybrid is amazing as a medium snap for speed dominants
Number three and up I totally agree with. I haven’t had a chance to throw the others🤙🏿🤙🏿💯💯
Strange. I heard amazing things from some Brunswick staffers about the pirahna. Nick liked it on his video Charles liked it on his video.
When you have to compete against some of the best bowling balls ever made, it’s tough. Most other medium/smooth balls are much more versatile IMO
Where you put the venom EXJ?🤔
Where does the sublime sit for you? Hard to place it in my bag…
IMO, it’s a medium/shiny ball but could be a strong/shiny in some cases

Either a Venom at 5000 or a Hyper Venom would fit well!
What about Nuclear Forge for the 3rd ball? It pretty strong but definitely goes longer.

I’d recommend something different thing - the Low Flare is a good combo off the Idol and the GB5 could also be a good combo
Would ion pro be included in this category?
Yep, it fits between the weak/smooth and medium/smooth category
Black venom for this category???
Yep!

@@ZVLBowlingThanks!
That hitters gotta be higher man. That ball hit different
Ball is trash.
@@kylemc8851 I beg to differ. What do you not like about it. It’s an envy tour on crack
@@jadencampbell7091 Crack is a good thing?
@@kylemc8851 depends on who you ask I guess
@@jadencampbell7091 don’t think I know anyone that thinks Crack is good.
thankyou! this so helpful , but can i request for medium/sharp ball next🙏🏻🙌🏻❤️
Yep, that’ll be coming next!
To be the best, you have to beat the best and the Venom Shock and Storm Phase 2 are hard to beat. E.J. Tackett, enough said.
Ej doesn't use storm. And he no longer throws the shock
@bryanmiller5074 I did not say he did. I was referencing just how good the Phase 2 and Venom Shock are. And E.J. used the Venom Shock for a long time. It pretty much became his signature ball.
@@lonestarpatriot876 also cause him 2 lose. Balls overrated
@bryanmiller5074 He has won plenty with that ball and also used it in the 2024 season. You are entitled to your opinion. I use it alot and love it.
No Radical Ratter ???
Think the Verge Hybrid shouldn't really be here. It's like in between smooth and sharp imo
Couldn’t you group the black venom, envy tour solid, and the new Ion Pro in the medium smooth category
Yes but this list is only from his 6 ball arsenal videos

900 Global Xponent isnt medium smooth for the 900 Global Series?
Nope, the Xponent will be considered a weak/smooth ball
