  • The Duncan Oklahoma Swap Meet is one of a couple of OKC meets that I like to attend. Normally I go in Saturday but this year I went in Friday as that Sat I had a classic car auction in Sherman Texas that I wanted to attend. I can say that there are more vendors on Saturday vs Friday but there is also that saying about how the early bird gets the worm. There is always some cool things to see at this even though it's not very big. It's held at the country fairgrounds with inside and outside spaces. It's also not too far from me at around toe and a half hour drive. I plan on being back again next year but definitely on Saturday as I like more vendors.

Nice job man. I spotted a few good prices on a couple of trucks and a few cars. Couldn't get near those prices back here in the Indiana tri state area, have to pay at least double around here.

Lots of El Caminos there, lots of square body parts too. They do love the GM trucks in Oklahoma....

    Whoa Nelley, a long one.....
I thought about some of that signage for outside of my garage, but I don't want to attract attention to it. I already had a guy asking me the other day, "What's in the garage?" when I was cutting the lawn at my other property. He tells me he's got an El Camino, etc, etc. I just said, "Yea, nice car" and went about my business.
I actually like those Thunderbirds in the theme, but they aren't worth squat. Maybe down the road they will be. I hate motorcycles that make noise like that. Total junk. Those wheels are ugly on that very nice 1963 Mercury. Pretty 68-72 style truck, but drop the ugly wheels. The GM stock ones look a lot better.
I came back from a meeting this past Monday and found a Craftsman circular saw and cordless drill in my office. I called around and it turns out that the guy that gave me the Craftsman/Snap On toolbox was cleaning out his garage and was going to toss them and decided that they'd be better off going to someone that likes Craftsman. LOL. The saw is from 1978 and was made by Diehl Motor (division of Singer) and the drill is from 1992 and made by Ryobi.
1973 Dart Swinger with the VIN for the win: L for Dodge Dart, H for High price class, 23 for two door hardtop, G for 318 V8 with two barrel, 3 for 1973 model year, B for Hamtramck, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Hamtramck plant operated from 1911 to 1980 and GM's Hamtramck plant opened in 1985 and operates on part of that site now. This one was made on Friday July 20, 1973. Possible code W1 Eggshell White or L4 Parchment exterior paint.
Stock in your old school Craftsman tools just went up because SBD announced that they are canceling the Fort Worth, TX tool plant and not going to be making Craftsman tools in the USA as was originally planned. We have those fans on the shop floor at work and they do a good job of moving air in the summer. The "Oreo" bullie was looking for a Mack truck. LOL.
Those are "Portawalls". My dad bought a set from J.C. Whitney back in the 1970s for our 1941 Plymouth Deluxe as it was easier to get blackwall tires in 1978 and get the those to make them white walls.

Some people are successful at it. I talked to one guy there that says he only does that swap meet to hang out with friends and doesn't care about the money. I personally couldn't load up a bunch of stuff, lay it all out for a day or two and hope it sells. Often times it doesn't appear that they sell much at all. I guess it depends on what you're selling and the price. Last year I took some pretty desirable stuff to a big swap meet. It was only about 20 things and i made over $1000. But I could could probably doubled that if I had put them eBay. I sold them relatively cheap. That's one of the reasons I go to swap meets, myself, to find those guys sells good stuff relatively cheap. Of course I don't always find them or find them in time and someone else gets the deal.

@@ClassicRideSociety Yes, swap meets are hit or miss. Facebook Marketplace is turning out to be pretty good. I got a 1969 Craftsman lower rollaway in January. The guy wanted $150, he then reduced it to $100. I got him down to $75 and he even delivered it to me. I had to put a set of casters (they were missing) on it and get keys made for the lock. I have to strip the hooptie black paint off of it or repaint it, but it's totally functional as it sits right now.
