It’s like a love child of a Ferrari Dino and a C3 Corvette. I always liked these cars and have felt they were under appreciated. This is a stunning restomod great work and very tastefully done .

Looks amazing. Has been one of my favorites since the 70’s. Nice restomod (because of the engine). Is this from before RetroPower started their RUclips channel ?

Many years ago I bought a new Opel Manta. Great car, handled very good. Looking back, should have got a GT! This is a great resto. Good job guys.

I had a '72 GT 1900 and a '74 Manta Rallye 1900 and the Manta handled better, the front end of the GT with it's mono leaf suspension wasn't all that

A GT is not a supercar. It is a superfun because light car.

What an incredible amount of rust. And what a complex structure to repair. My hat is off.

I suspect these Opel GTs were already rusty when they first left the factory.....
Looks like they did not bother to treat the steel in any way to prevent rust.

I am amazed that the body was worth repairing.
It looked like a write off to me with rust under rust everywhere one looked.

Not really a supercar, but it is a nice little runabout.

Absolutely beautiful, always wanted one since I was a kid (even this same color) for the styling, but so many issues with them. this car is amazing! How much?

  • @richardb6260

My first car was an orange 1970 Opel GT. Paid just under $1700 used. Put $500 down. My car payment was $46 and some change a month for 24 months.

Cool car, but not a "full restoration". That would have returned it to factory original. This one is going to be a blast to drive, though. These cars are like riding in a go-cart with a body on it.

    "supercar"?

  • @markanthony3275

Too many pieces in those patches...make them all one piece. What will happen is that they will get covered by filler, and eventually where the weld lines are you will see them come to the surface, because they stiffen up the metal so it can't vibrate at the same rate as the metal on either side of the weld. The filler will literally lift up on either side of the weld. The action of sheet metal is like an ocean...it moves constantly. But when a wave hits something like the shore, then the water piles up into a wave that hits the shore. Those weld are the shore, and the rest of the sheet metal is like the ocean...the filler is the wave. Too zen for you ? LOL! I've been a journeyman auto body repairman for over 30 years, I'm just telling you what i've seen. The only way you could make successful patches is to make them fit very precisely, gas weld them with a 000 torch tip, and forge each weld...so that the weld area is the same thickness and flexibility as the sheet metal it joined. I would try to make larger one piece patches...and I know that's difficult on the front of an Opel because there are complex curves and subtle shapes...I owned one...a very rusty one!

It's a Resto-Mod... Not a Concours restoration. the C20XE was a 150hp 4cyl, DOHC, Multiport Fuel Injected engine introduced in 1988, it's nickname was the RED-TOP. The engine in the car appears to be the Formula 3 configuration capable of 250hp

You fabricated so many metal parts of this Opel that you can fabricate an entire Opel. And when you do, make it a little longer and wider up front to fit a V8

More turd than supercar. The word 'supercar' does not apply to underpowered 4 cyl cars known for terrible build quality. But kudos for investing more than the car's value. So many of these sitting unrestored because it makes no financial sense to do so.

  • @leifhietala8074
    @leifhietala8074 Год назад +1

Calling it a "supercar" is a bit of a stretch, this thing was based on the compact economy-segment Kadett, and the top engine was a 1.9 cranking out a mere 102 hp in its peak trim.
Ah. Okay, some serious upgrades. Okay, less inadequate for its looks, then. I still wouldn't reach so far as to call it super.

"Supercar" Hahahaha, it has only 1900 cc.
A supercar it is not, but a fun sports car it is.
And, sadly, it is one that Gormless Motors will never again produce now that they have left their balls on the alter of "economics". Being a "designer" at GM would have to be the most pointless, saddest job anyone could have..
