Two seasons of building Frenchie's relationship with Kimiko only for a random guy to pop up and BOOM he's gay now.
That was it for me
He was gay from the beginning, or bisexual. He had a throuple with a man and women early on, before he met Kimiko. Didn’t know until I rewatched the first season and he’s chillin with those two.
@StudioTrainor establishing the bisexuality is not the main problem with the writing, it's the sudden throwing away of a relationship that was being established for seasons with Kimiko.
It's shit lazy writing.
Exactly wtf!
@foxdragoon84 Exactly this. No one cared he was bi. That poly thing was dumb but that was in the past, and he was building something with Kimiko. Then they threw it away, and for what? Seasons worth of buildup and ZERO payoff.
I think Erin Moriarty is the perfect metaphor for this show: She was a stunning young lady, but she allowed some disgusting people to get into her head, play with her neuroticism, and convince her she wasn't attractive enough. Now she looks just like any generic middle-aged plastic-surgery junkie. It just makes me sad.
Well, now she has a face that perfectly matches the 2-pack-a-day voice.
She actually looks like a crackhead.
Ozempic face 😢
@@kingofacheronyes! Her voice, ugh! It’s always been a little deep, but it’s gotten so much worse.
I stopped watching the show after season 1 because she looked so bad I couldn’t stand it
Frenchie being bi isn't the problem. It's them suddenly putting him in a relationship with someone else after 3 seasons of him & Kimiko.
No, Frenchie being gay, IS the problem.
Nahh Frenchie being bi is the problem
Did u guys just skipped earlier sessions where Frenchie said he had a boyfriend before....
Bi people only count when they're in one type of relationship. It is very rare to see a bi character actually end up in a heterosexual relationship in media (see: the only one that comes to mind is Hunter from The Owl House, a Disney cartoon).
I never got a gay vibe from Frenchie. To see it was more shocking then the lobotomy scene
It’s always funny when the audience score goes down and the critic score goes up
Yeah, it never gets old!
"I couldn't care less that one of my favorite shows these recent years have just killed itself" isn't a truthful statement. I think it's hilarious that all modern series follow the same pattern these days!
It’s a signal that conservatives are butthurt.😂
@@jaymum23 Haha, yeah. And it's equally funny when progressives and the rest of the political spectrum are triggered because of the conservatives being triggered! 🤣
@@jaymum23 Is that why the progressive left wing actress amandala stenberg, who has a white jewish father, lost her mind and dropped a racist distrack on her instagram because people think the Acolyte sucks?
@@jaymum23 I'm left wing, I've never voted conservative in my life. Boys Season 4 FKN sucks because they've sacrificed good story telling to force ideologies on people. these stories should be about good vs evil, homelander is evil, it's not about that anymore, they're making it about how important representation is.
The end of the Kimiko and Frenchie romance is sad. It felt like it came out of nowhere and ruined what they had been building.
She saw him as family in season 3 what do you mean out of nowhere
bro frenchie is gay and kimiko gonna be lesbian @@MaruchYT
I had to look back and see what I missed and was like “oh there was no foreshadowing, he is just gay now” poor kimmiko
this ain’t the end buddy the whole point is to build up more their romance because they both have trauma that they need to get past 💀
Why need sex to ruin good relationship?
Smartest human in the world walks out of the room to leave her henchmen to murder the protagonists without staying to make sure the job actually gets done.
Much smart, very bravery.
So stunning. So brave
And her first display of her superior intellect was noticing that homelander was sweating and therefore is getting old 😂
It looks like they are telegraphing her to work against Homelander, while making it appear as if she is helping him. That's why she is manipulating Deep. The thing is, Homelander is also supposed to have a superior intellect. But, who knows if they will follow through with that.
Honestly, I can see why she left. Think about it, if that little execution went South(which it did) and she was still there she would be in relatively big danger. Sage is the smartest person alive, but I really doubt that would help her in a fight. Once firecracker and splitter went down what then? It would just be her (someone with high intelligence, but no superhuman strength and most likely no combat experience whatsoever and unarmed) against M.M. and Frenchie (both of which we’ve seen are plenty experienced when it comes to fighting sups) and Kimiko who unlike Sage has enhanced strength. Another explanation is that she saw splitter’s pink eye and figured that might cause a problem, which is likely considering how observant we have seen her with Homelander previously.
Dr Evil style.
I've always liked The Boys but the first episode of Season 4 felt like I was scrolling through a Twitter feed. I couldn't help but think how dated all of this will feel in a few years. All these current references feel so on the nose to the point of being obnoxious. But in episode 2 when Frenchie falls in love with a man out of NOWHERE, after all these episodes of him and Kimiko and their will-they-wont-they dance, I just couldn't anymore. It's not a show anymore. It's a Twitter feed, not a tv show. I'm walking away before it gets any worse.
The irony of calling right winger "Jew haters" 😂🤣🤣😂😂😂
Nobody has mentioned how corny it was when Kimiko fought Firecracker and they somehow went into a photo booth and got their pictures taken mid fight.
That is Scooby Doo level goofiness that caused maximum cringe I had run away from the television.
Thankfully people like you continue leaving the show. We don't want you in our fan communities spewing your cringe takes.
lmao I forgot about that 😂
what happened to our show 😢
@@Volcom4445 Gen Z humor where everything has to be a joke. In the Witcher Netflix show Henry Cavil leaked that when his horse died they wanted him to crack a joke instead of mourning his horse. He refused to. Gen Z is truly the least funny generation. I thought my generation was bad with the early 2000s random quirky humor. @@marcfilms999season 3 episode 1 “he’s trying to get in my ass”-Frenchie ,and don’t forget the baby that they can use to shoot lasers on command in season 2 , the show has always had goofy fight scenes
@@Thebloodguy It has to make sense. in order for those booths to work and take picture you have to insert money. they were fighting.
It makes no sense at all. It's dumb writing.
That Frenchie arc threw me off. They really shoe horned that in there. Starlight doesn’t even look like herself anymore. She turned into a 60yr old lady.
it's ridiculous what she did to her face, she used to be very cute
Im kinda hoping she dies, hughie has better chemisty with kimiko anyway.
I watched a few fragments to get a taste of what the Boys is.... didn't like it. Never a fan of the entire 'superhero universes'. Basically it's old MCU light, but then with annoying characters and protagonists, that have moral ambiguity. The main character, don't even know his name is especially annoying.
Frenchie was pretty obviously outed as bisexual in season 2. Hes was in a throuple with another man and a woman. Im not sure how people managed to miss it honestly, they basically signaled it with a billboard. Not really a shock that hes attracted to men.
I think everyone just looks 10 years older than last time.
"The writers are running out of material to write"
That's exactly how I felt starting in season 2.
The thing is, even though Homelander is a straight up psycho, Antony Starr plays him so well that you can't help loving to hate or hating to love Homelander. Mr. Starr gives Homelander depth so that you can empathize with him for his tortured childhood and still be horrified by his atrocities. He's kind of like Heath Ledger's Joker in that he just he steals every scene he's in! And it only helps him that Starlight, the hero, is self-righteous and unlikeable.
I am 100% sure that no one would watch if it weren’t for Antony Starr.
Kimiko is going to be a “Non-Binary Asian Lesbian Boss” by the end of this season.
She'll be disabled in season 5 and convert to Islam also.
@@bitteryetcivilized257 And Frenchie did? Remember when we first met Frenchie, bringing Translucent to him in the trunk. @@Tomdog83 yes French was bi in season 2, he had a flashback of sleeping with men and women a party, where they were all getting high. I still hate the new story line in season 4, just pointing out the facts.

And LOST. Hehe
I recently rewatched all of The Boys in preparation for S4. I decided to make it interesting by counting how much woke shit was mentioned, like people being called racist or ''white saviours'' or saying things are ''heteronormative'', that kind of thing.
In S1, 0 times.
In S2, 4 times.
In S3, 6 times.
And then I counted it for the first three episodes of S4. 27 Fucking times.
So in the span of three episodes, they have almost TRIPLED the amount of woke shit from the ENTIRE THREE PREVIOUS SEASONS.
The fact that people are still denying it is baffling to me.
Yea wtf I loved this show, but season 4 is a fuckfest.... seriously I just wanna watch a fucking show no gay propaganda. They destroy a masterpiece of a show with this crap seriously. The lefties defending this can't help them tards way too far gone
Kripke literally stated how he felt about it also!
This comment should be pinned!
Note how many of the writers and directors are now women. Angry, neurotic women of a certain atypical sexuality, who hate men.
"ThE bOy Is WoKe NoW!"
Like, seriously, did y'all miss the part when Homelander was basically a Trump stand in?
Also, regarding Frenchie, did anyone actually bother to watch the show before? By season 2 when they explained Frenchie backstory with Lamplighter, it was already heavily implied he was in some sort of Trouple with Cherie and the other junkie.
And then, there is the fact that both Kimoko and Frenchie are facing trauma from their past in season 4 which is actively driving them appart. Frenchie is litteraly banging the son of one of his victim out of guilt and Kimiko numbed her brain with alcohol because of a picture reminding her of her time as a child soldier.
Heck, you just have to look at their interraction when they talk about Frenchie banging the judge son. Frenchie seems to still care for Kimiko and she tell him they both need to have sex to blow off steam, in a rather crude and out of character way.
Something is happening between these two. I think this season will explore who they are without each other to bring them back together stronger. Let them cook. Maybe I'm wrong, but the boys has more than earned the benefit of the doubt in such cases.
Yeah the far righters lack the ability to self project, The boys is a great show and i love it
Homelander isn't a "Trump stand-in". Homelander is Homelander. Get some help. Your derangement syndrome is showing.
No you're correct, don't let others hope on their judgemental high horse because they can't understand how people actually work.

@@etc8217 The show is ass just watch Breaking Bad
it happens in a lot of shows. just compare first and last season of game of thrones.
It’s not even it’s “woke” that’s the issue. The writing is the issue.
The writers just decided everything that has happened politically in real life is the plot of this season. We already saw that happen. It was already satirized in other mediums. And the writing and main plot of the show is actively suffering for it.
Take last season, here’s some what I thought would be obvious plot points: how is Butcher and Hughie coping with the idea that they may have missed their one opportunity to kill Homelander? How is Homelander handling the fact that he came close to defeat twice last season? Are we going to explore that his fight with Maeve showed he maybe isn’t as indestructible as we maybe thought? Has Hughie suffered any damage from Temp V? How are him and Butcher dealing with being normal humans feeling helpless against Supes after having a taste of that power? I feel like these are things that should be explored but just aren’t because of the focus on the “Trumpism” plot
This season they forgot how to fun of the left and the right. Now it's all about turning Homelander into "orange man bad" and making Frenchie bi with the most shoehorned and gay relationship with no explanation or build up. Even Firecracker is cartoonishy evil.
To be fair, the left was pretty much always spared in this show. Only the fake-woke corporations were put on laughing stock alongside everyone mildly right from Lenin.
It's both.
Spot on bro
Good take. Wasted subplots that would’ve been good to see played out.
Homelander is not and was never portrayed as "awesome". He was shown as pathetic, has mommy issues, and psychopathic.

If you are a regular conservative you'll hate this show but some extreme right conservatives absolutely love this show because they absolutely cheer for the atrocities that homelander commits . I was arguing with one extreme rigth winger who claimed the show was proudly anti woke because in his eyes homelander is a hero when he kills criminals and lazered the leftist protestor s head and killed him.
He couldn't understand that homelander s atrocities are so bad the whole idea is to make homelander the bad guy and hence make conservatives look bad . But to this arch conservative he saw the show as completely anti woke because he supports everything homelander does
@@iang8169 I see this take (and variations of it) tons of times online (especially reddit where peeps have a superiority complex) It's always the right are too stupid to realise unilke the left who are super smart...
@@iang8169 These stories are all over reddit. There are so many that they all come across as made up now.
The worst part about it is that they're taking an established storyline like Homelander being all super patriotic but evil and manipulative is directly from the comic, but then they're mixing it in with Donald Trump and anybody who likes him. It shows how lazy they are basically took something that was already established, and trying to tie it to Trump while simultaneously praising themselves as being so smart when all they're really doing is editing, established lore from the books.
and then we run of material from the comics they just take events from real life and slightly change the name. Disney+ to Vought+. For New to Vought News. Like a very 1:1 ratio with 0 creativity. Good satire jokingly references something in the fictional world that relates to the real world and if it's done well everyone might not get the reference and it makes you think/laugh. Ik the show writers aren't fans of subtlety but that's storytelling 101 "Show Don't tell". That's honestly the main issue their telling us all the obvious boring shi without showing us why we should even care in the first place. This season is definitely going all in on the politics. The thing that bothers me is that you see alot of people say "why are you choosing now to complain about the politics when its been in the show the whole time?". Im choosing now because before it never felt like the politics came before the plot. Sure you could definitely see it when watching but you could still enjoy the show. Now its so in your face that its just more of an eye role to try and watch. Also its really weird that they tried to downplay the epstein stuff by putting it in the conspiracy theorist convention.
The show made by one of the biggest corporations in the world (Amazon), heavily featuring an evil corporation as the villains, (Vought), pokes fun at "conspiracy theorists" such as New Agers, people against devil-worshipping (((merchants))) and groomers. Some of which have been PROVEN right over and over again. Couldnt be any more on the (((nose))) if they tried.

Agreed. It s so on the nose right now. The character of Firecracker basically spouts every right wing talking point the showrunners could look up. And they dont even bother considering the other side of the argument.
That isn't even the problem. There are people like Firecracker irl. The show fizzled out. It lost any stakes when Queen Maeve disappeared. The smartest sup is actually disappointing. Anyone with middling intelligence might be more self aware than her. Overall, Woke defeats this series.
I found Frenchie's new romantic arc with Colin(or whatever his name is) to be quite boring and forced. They should have just kept his relationship Arc with Kamiko going.
One of the things I'm looking at is the Hughie's mom storyline. They better not give her a redemption arc, she deserves none if it. She deserves no sympathy, she's a terrible person who abandoned her husband and son and well know if it were Hughie's dad they wouldn't dare give him that arc.
I hope they show she's just a manipulator.

I bet they'll make Homelander gay eventually...and his son probably too.
Probably not Homelander, but most definitely his son 😂
Speaking of narcissists and remember shapeshifter from previous season?

But it was removed for the show.
You are so right about his son. I would not be surprised if in season 5 Ryan turns homo 😭
I didn't mind them making fun of the right or the left. But with this season they blatantly just copy the real world. Scenes where they used terms like "libt*rd" took me so much out of the immersion. And then the whole pizza g4te thing. Such an uncreative way to mock people. Really embarrassing.
Also them mentioning Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein. I'm like, how TF do these people still exist in such a universe? Does that mean Bill Clinton and Trump exist in the world of The Boys too? Despite having a different president? They even mentioned Disney in this season; Vought is literally supposed to f**cking be Disney in this universe! Disney, Amazon, and Google, all in one. How can Disney even exist when Vought is the same thing as them, but with superheroes instead of animated movies? It's such absolute sh*t writing.
@@MarvinPowell1 they likely changed things so right sided fans didn't associate Vought with Disney as they want to protect Disney in real life and likely hate any criticism towards Disney and it's projects and agree with Disney's real life narrative.
Mentioning Epstein is them either thinking Epstein did kill himself and think it's only a right sided view he didn't, or like with Weinstein they have somehow ran out of material and are just picking things that trended once to try and be relevant.
It would make more sense to do actual research and spout things that right people dislike but that would go against their narrative as they messed up with Homelander as they didn't want him to be liked at all and likely do not want similar to happen again.
@@MarvinPowell1 for real. Feels like they hired the writers of Captain Marvel for season 4. I bet if they introduced Trump, he would just shoot some mexican or something. True. They have run out of ideas. The show should have ended after 3 seasons. There doesn't seem to be a real threat anymore. The only people who die in the show are characters that no one cares about
@@nerychristian it's crazy how they have ran out of ideas for a show that is only 8 episodes a season. If the five seasons are true then that is 40 episodes, pretty much 2 full old school seasons... if we look at for example Smallville, if that condensed its main story from 216 episodes (10 seasons) into this format it possibly could be the greatest show ever made with zero filler... This show is struggling to give us the main story and has to put in filler!.
It's worth noting that Homelander isn't just a character of the general conservative. The show Runner explicitly said that Homelander's suppose to be a parallels for Trump. They even posted a picture of Homelander in court the same day Donald Trump was convicted. Their left, they're proud, but also, they're smug about it.
He's not in the comics....but we can't have nice things when it comes to shows.
Did we even watch the same show? This show is _specifically_ making fun of everyone and everything populist and capitalist. I though S2's Stormfront plot made it clear that feminism/"wokeness" too could be propagandized, commercialized and exploited - just like nationalism.
Even Gen V specifically came at the performative parts of the US-left with their "#blackgirlmagic" and "she's gonna become the Black Starlight". IMHO the only consistent targets of ridicule in The Boys are the oligarchs and the capitalists.
And they're SLOPPY with it. The showrunners HATE middle America, but they have no idea why.
Vought is supposed to be an allegory for Fox News, even though (for all the bad things you can say about Fox) the environment of talking points and shilling for politicians is much closer to MSNBC or CNN. There's a character who is supposed to be an allegory for Tucker Carlson, even though he's NOTHING like him. There's another laughably bad scene where this badass, based father character gets into a fight with a soyboy stepdad character...except the showrunners actually think that the soyboy stepdad is how Conservatives act and the based father is how leftists act. They're so out of touch with reality it's hilarious. What a waste of such a great IP and actors.

I don't think its at all "woke", the shows political in nature. Homelander going to the President is cannon, so this progression of political chaos makes sense. And this show has taken the piss out of both the right and the left in the past.. The right just has a weird issue where they can only see when they're being mocked, and the left can't see when they're being mocked. I'd say this season is taking the piss out of American politics in general, as all seasons do. It's just that now we've got a "Bad" side supporting the villain.. As a non American, the right and the left both do the same dumb shit every 4 years.
Yes, it has always been woke. But this season they gave up telling a good story and are focusing on pushing their message. The characters are completely lost and nothing happens in the first 3 episodes. Another good show ruined.

I was fast-forwarding through all the scenes with Frenchie, Kamiko, and Hughie's mom. Just random side-stories side tracking form the actual show. Homelander, his new smart Side-kick, the head popper politician and Butcher are the most interesting characters. Season 4 is a bit too late to start introducing more backstory for side characters. The thing with Sister Sage’s “Super Intelligence” power is that the introduction to her character via Homelander wanting her to prove herself was the perfect opportunity to show her intelligence in a meaningful way. For example, instead of just spouting out a few observations that Homelander is clearly insecure about (which is pretty dumb in itself btw), Sister Sage could have had a chalkboard on wheels that she made and started writing down and drawing multiple facts about Homelander himself. From scientific facts about his heat vision, how his flight works, the structural integrity of his costume, the differences in his organs compared to other Supes, and what would it take to heal him in the unlikely event he is injured; all while drawing comprehensive images showcasing her observations/findings in decent chalk detail.
This would have been perfect. Mainly because in a single scene, her intelligence could be showcased through multiple facets, from engineering, physics, medicine, arts, mathematics, and writing, all in one scene. And it would still make Homelander both insecure and realize she really is the real deal. They ALMOST had it, all they needed to do was to better showcase it.
It was such a long time between seasons 3 and 4 that they thought no one would notice that frenchie wasn't gay.
Something I've learned from several YT commentators: your characters cannot be smarter than the writers. It shows how moronic these writers are because in their mind owning tons of books and being untidy is the idea of a nerd, and therefore really really clever! It's a bit of a bummer really because now every time I read a book or see a film/show where a character does something dumb, but is supposedly super-dooper I now notice it more.....kinda spoils things.....😢
