I just got my tags and have been searching for a simple way to track habits and have recently started setting up notion so thins is exactly what I was looking for! This is a clear and simple guide, thank you!!
I am not a techy person at all but I just figured out how to do this (the database ID and API threw me some hurdles) but I am so happy with the outcome! Incredible! Thank you!
Thank you very much. Im wondering if it is possible to do the same but instead of using notion, using a proper habit tracking app so i can get statistics on my habits and all the other extra features that a habit tracker app gives. Thanks
Amazing! It's gonna help me a lot to track my habits. Thanks a lot. Just one thing, I've been trying to modify the shortcut to, instead of changing the status of a checkbox, increment a counter (ex: water intakes per day) but I didn't manage to achieve it since I don't know how to get the value of the cell. You think you could take a look at it? Thanks a lot again!!
You're welcome, I'm glad that was helpful! Unfortunately that's not something that I can do quickly but you can arrange a consulting call with me here calendly.com/anotioneer if you'd like me to help you get that set up

Hi I am trying to do this and am stuck. When trying to run the shortcut I keep getting the following error: {"status":401"object":"error":"unauthorized","message":"API token is invalid."} I gave my database authorization to the token, went back to ensure that my database was shared to public. I dont know what I am doing wrong. :(. Please help!
Hi, usually that either happens because you haven't shared your database with the integration (via the connections menu) or you haven't added your internal integration token to the Shortcut's settings. I hope that helps!
I keep getting an error message when trying to download the shortcut. Could it be with the IOS 17 update it broke? I get the message "cant open gallery"
Thanks for letting me know. I’ve just tried creating a new share link with iOS 17 and I get the same error so there must be an issue with iOS 17 I’m afraid. We’ll just have to wait for them to fix it. Some people on Reddit are reporting that if you keep trying then it should work eventually. Just tried that though and it hasn’t worked for me
So I got the Database ID from the TABLE's url and the API token is the Internal Integration Secret that I created within Notion. I connected my API/Internal Integration Secret to the page where my database table is located. However, when I run the shortcut I get an error message: "There was an error while searching your database: API token is invalid" Not sure where I went wrong, would love some insight - Thanks in advanced

I’m so close but can’t figure this out! So I use a windows pc with iPhone so I open the shortcut iCloud link on my phone and it doesn’t pre-fill any data for me. This means I get the standard error message API token is invalid. So I add the Database ID (numbers in notion link?) and Internal Integration code/number copied from setting it up in Notion. Then when I run I get error message: In ‘’, no valid was found for dictionary key ‘results’. Please help!
I'm having the exact same problem, exact same error as well. Within the "Habit Completed" shortcut, in "Dictionary," I'm wondering if something is missing there? Database ID was added (shared the database with the integration in Notion as well), API token added... does anything need to be changed/updated in the remaining fields? Title Name or Date Name? Trying to look through how the Shortcut is set up and trying to possibly identify any missing info. Either way, thanks @aNotioneer, as this is such an awesome way to track habits.
@@aNotioneer I just fixed it! For me it was a silly mistake of copying the page’s link numbers for the Database ID when it needs to be from the table(database) within the page. Thank you so much!!

You don’t cover how to input the database Id and api key variables into the shortcut. I found the db id in the url of the notion page
When you first open the Shortcut you’ll be prompted to enter those details. Just let me know if you get stuck at all

Thanks! It finds the row for today's date or creates one if there isn't one already

The link for integration is not in the notion page as seen in the video.
