Man, I’m impressed. I could never go through that many steps
Sure you could!
Just put these seats into my 2019 Silverado Custom. Couldn’t have done it without this video, thanks!
Also got mine off ebay
Glad I could help!
Ive been looking for a nice truck like crazy. Right now trucks with leather seats are almost 5k more expensive than trucks with cloth seats. I think i just found a way to save so much money! Thank you 🙏
Same reason I did it
First, thank you for the video it convinced me to order the set for my Sierra.
Suggestions for anyone wanting to buy:
1. The listed price on Ebay is $1,000 now for the black "licorice" set, try to find the "BEST OFFER" seller and offer them $600. You can see in the history that they very recently were selling them for $589...not anymore. My approved best offer was $600
2. You need to make a lot of holes in the covers to make them reach the intended attachment point... and even cut some piece out. Thankfully they use a marker and show where too cut, the holes (for push pins) are not shown.
3. The rear seat bottom does not need to be installed in the same holes, the push pin can make new holes in the Styrofoam anyplace you want.
4. 4:03- Don't remove the plastic caps...the whole thing comes out as a whole. Place a pry tool under the whole insert and pry up at a 45 degree angle then 'shock' it by hitting the handle upwards and the clips release very easy. Just prying requires alot of force.
5. 13:13, front headrests- the plastic piece SPINS out/unscrews. Move the whole plastic cap.
6. 25:10 cut the v-notches into the armrest cover and stretch into position
7. The center console is the nightmare part of this job, you need to tear the whole thing down....this is gonna make alot of you unhappy, it was the hardest part of job.
8. Make you you stretch the cover so that the stitching is on the edges where it needs to be and straight.
Overall I like the mod, looks way better than "poverty pack" cloth seats these trucks come with. Its not super hard to do, but it is time consuming. Worth $600? Absolutely. If you are slightly arthritic or have tendonitis, be warned, you may want to farm out the labor.
Yeah crazy the price went up, glad you tried the $600 best offer. Overall it's not that bad, just a fair amount of work
@@JrsGasolineAlley I would say its worth $600 for sure. I love my Elevation WITH leather... it is a fair amount of sweat equity. Recommend the mod, just prepare yourself for some work. :)
Already a sweet truck with a moonroof. You scored!!!!
Awesome Job! I will definitely upgrade my truck to a set of these👍🏽
Nice the only problem now is this set goes for $1200 not $600.
Great video and explanation 👍
Thank you.
1600
Hello. I realize this is several years after the fact, but would you happen to have this video in original format that was played at normal speed. I am in the process of replacing my seat covers and would like to see it done at normal speed. Thank you in advance.
Nice to see a little know how delivered good looking results. I was quoted $600 to have mine installed. Crazy.
I mean it take a lot of time so $600 seams reasonable to have someone do it
I did mine last weekend on my challenger, I was quoted over 1,200! Did it myself in 6 hours
@@mrhoneys2012 Looking to do this on my challenger did you have to take the seats out
@sonsolar yes. Wasn't too bad. Take head rests out first in front seats to make it more manageable to get them out. Only 4 bolts per seat!
Hey I want to change mine on my 2023 elevation x31 but I can't not figure out how to order online .can you please tell me how to
Great video my guy. You saved me about a thousand dollars. Upholstery shops are EXPENSIVE.
Glad I could help
Looks great I have a 2021 2.7 elevation crew cab and I been wanting to do this to my truck and after seeing your video I’m sure I can tackle this project myself …. Downside is the missing footage to the middle seat/console as that one piece of the interior looked the most daunting.
I love the look as it seems oem which I believe the elevation trim should’ve received the leather interior and cloths should only be for work truck & lower trims
Did u have to do all the cut out
hi I just got my katzkins set yesterday decided to let an installer do it, but great vid I've watched a few but I was surprised that the bulk of the katzkins set is vinyl, the kit was from malaysia, most vids from katzkins show an American facility . the back seat is almost all vinyl the center insert is the only leather the back, the front is mostly leather where you sit the backs vinyl,, but the headrests console and other trim is vinyl. I even called katzkins to make sure they were not fake... katzkins confirmed most kits are made In malaysia for them and there is a lot of vinyl, the price now is 1000$ so I'm a little disappointed. I'm surprised no one mentions this. the first clue was the vinyl smell upon opening the box.
Hmm, that was not my experience. Presuming there are different configurations you can buy?
same set same seller as your link maybe they lowered their quality
How do i separate the top and bottom jump seat like you did that’s the only part im having trouble with thanks
Hey James great install video. How are the Katskins holding up? Definitely want some leather seats that can hold up to my sweaty mtb bum.
My friend anyway the cover can be put over the old seats???
Can You get them shipped to a personal address? I taught they only send them to get installed to a upholstery shop.
Leather seat pros is who you’re looking for. They’re a Katzkin dealer but they’ll ship directly to you. Small shop so a tad slow on the customer service but very good guys
I ordered a set for my 2021 Silverado 1500 Duramax. It arrives tomorrow and I'm definitely using this video as a guide! I have the middle jump seat too so this is perfect. Only difference is, I have the hidden storage and armrest in the rear seats so mine will be a little more involved. I plan on using a heat gun to gently shrink down the leather after its installed to get rid of any minor wrinkles and such.
Nice, good luck. Ive now had it on my truck almost 2 years and really like the upgrade. Your labor will be totally worth it.
Katzkin told me yesterday, no carry outs sold, authorized dealer install only. What’s the deal with that?
@Joe Marshall I know how you feel.. I tried to order recently too and they told me the same thing. Sucks! And to top it off I live in Hawaii and they don't have an installer in my area at all. I'm confident that I would be able to do my own installation if I could get it.
@@solomonbadayos4196 if you're still looking, try contacting a vendor through ebay. There are several who are willing to sell you kits, and may even be willing to sell customized kits shipped straight to your door.
@Zach Thanks I'll try and look. 🤙
I think my installer is going to leave the console lid factory, is there a huge difference in the colors? Awesome job by the way.
Thanks. Colors are similiar but the texture is significantly different and more premium with the leather.
Nice job! I did this to my 2008 years ago. Great way to upgrade!
Thanks. Well worth it for sure
Will it be the same for a Chevy Silverado ?
this video makes me want to pay a guy to do this!!!!
Lol
My friend any way I would be able to put my katzkin cover over seats without taking out seats?
Looks like an absolute nightmare. I’ll leave it to the professionals to install mine!
I just did this to my 19 super duty. Pain in the ass and man are my fingers sore but it looks and feels sweet. My seats came out far easier than yours from what I could tell, less than 10min per seat and that includes the rear as well
Katskin? Or different brand & how much did you pay?
@@theuncreatedlight4717never saw the alert for this so sorry. They’re Katzkin and I went through Leather Seat Pros. I would do it again, I’d just make sure to have backup with smaller hands as I’m a bit of a gorilla. For a crew cab, front buckets and rear bench with heated seats for the front two seats it’s was low $900s with shipping. A guy at work got them for his 19 F150 and paid around $600 for the same seats but no heaters. He went through page by page of premade ones they already had and saved a bunch. Heaters are $55 a seat
I'm going to do the very same thing in the spring.
Good call. I am so glad I did
That turned out really good. How is it holding up? Any issues?
It's awesome!
are you able to share how you got the clips in the middle of the seats unhooked? Is it pretty obvious when looking at it? Also how did you remove the plastic on the seats?
Do you just have to cut the holes for the headrest? After you get the cover centered?
I called that katkin company but they send me to an installer they don't ship directly to me and have to pay way more then 600 how did you get the kit
Where did you find them for under $600? Looking for my 20 ram and they want little over $900. I’ll do them myself but sure would like to know where you got that deal at?
eBay, linked below. I believe the price has gone up a little, but thats to be expected with inflation over the past 2y
Did the katzkin increase the seat comfort? Were your stock seats heated? If so, how was the heat after replacing the cloth with leather?
Stock seats were heated, no change and how warm they get or anything. I think it's more comfortable, mostly because you can move around a little bit better and you don't feel as stuck in as you do on cloth
Do you have the storage under the front middle seat? Did it come with both pieces in case you don’t have the storage ? And where did you get it !? I’m hoping this will fit my 21 custom double cab
I had underseat storage. they sell a different option for trucks without the storage.
@@JrsGasolineAlley awesome ! I just ordered a kit off eBay for mine for 600. Hoping it goes well.. I did my 2016 and it was time consuming.
im about to do this for an f150. Id imagine this particular job is pretty similar regardless of brand. Having done it yourself, do you think it would have been worth to pay someone 200 bucks to just install it, or was it not as bad as you thought it would be. I've gotten mixed reviews from people who have done it themselves. lol. looks great by the way, and its not a Dodge so you're already ahead in life 😂.
I would say just do it for the quality of how it is installed on your vehicle. 😉
awesome job dude , to be honest you did pretty good but the air gaps you find are because you did not vacuum seal it its basically a vacuum but hella strong and they use it to make sure its sealed completely
what?
Great time to put in sound insulation is with those seats out...
I have the exact same truck interior , would like the part numbers for your kit, colour and stitch option as well!
Do you think the leather quality is good or average?
The exact kit is linked in the description. This truck replaced my 2018 GMC SLT with factory leather (see previous videos on that truck) and IMO this is every bit as nice as the factory truck leather. Pretty happy with it overall.
@@JrsGasolineAlley did the creases end up going away in the seats???
Awesome truck, now a great interior it deserves and you did a great job, enjoyed your attitude your an awesome presenter!!!👍👍👍
Wow, thanks!
The trick is to use a power steamer when putting the leather over the seats. Then it doesn't wrinkle and goes on easy.
Looks fantastic! That’s above my skill set to do all that. But I would love to do that to my Trail boss it would look great with that add on. Did you end up putting in a wireless charger? Thanks for sharing man!
Great job. Could you please explain how can I order such leather cover seats online. I mean the seller website.
Same, I can’t find anything less than 1k for a set
They were reasonably priced 2 years ago. This video is two whole years old.
So how are these leathers holding up?
HI ive been searching to see what you did with the head rest buttons on the side? Do they remove? thanks
They do remove but I chose to keep it hidden
So nothing about the switch cover removal on the drivers side front seat? That’s where I’m stuck.
14:30 it is definitely not “all the same”.
What is different about it?
@@JrsGasolineAlleythe wiring harness is in a completely different spot and the electric controls on the side add a rough element to the removal. Also there are two trim pieces that you have to be careful with when removing the seat from the truck.
Have the wrinkles flatten out now? That’s the only why I want the professionally installed. I have the same truck and am very interested
They have. I should do a follow-up video. Pretty much after several drives and people sitting in the seats they have settled in and look very good
Jr's Gasoline Alley thank you very much, I will he ordering mine today! And please if you can upload a video follow up would be great. A couple of buddies with sierras want to do this!!
Does using a steam cleaner help during install with wrinkles?
dude i would have considered adding sound proofing to floor board since you had your seats out......more work for sure but since they are out......and yeah seat covers are alot of work......lay the new leather ones in sun for a lil while to soften them up before install.....it does help
Next time!
Hello, nice install. Will this void any warranties if I were to get these installed in a certified preowned car?
Shouldn't
I doubt they will even notice it. I can’t imagine them saying , “hey you never had leather seats.”
Will this company install for you and if so would they come to your house?
Yes Katzkin does that
Would you still recommend the katskins or there another company that you would recommend
Well to be fair I have never tried another brand, so I don't think I can recommend anyone else. With that said I am more than happy with these.
Very nice. Looks factory. Great job 👍🏻
Thanks! 👍
Man... I have some seat covers that just came in but now I really want those ones lol
These came out awesome IMO. What covers did you get?
@@JrsGasolineAlley some ones I found online for like 200 that will probably just piss me off lol. They look nice enough. I'm just waiting for it to go warm up to fight with them its currently 2⁰f here in my part of 🇨🇦
Great video. Thank you!
Is your stitching on the katzkins seat covers a shade lighter than the oem stitching?
Maybe ever so slightly. IMO it matches
Interesting 🤔 maybe I got a different set. I have the same truck as you but had a place install the katzkins, mine are noticeable lighter. Almost like a silver on the seats but my dash and doors are a dark gray. Thank you for the reply. That’s a sweet rig you got there 👍
how did you get your seat covers? i called them and they said they only deal with dealers
Buy them from a dealer who will sell them w/o install. I linked where I bought them in the description (Although it has gone up in price a bit)
why so much wrinkles
because it takes time to settle
Theres no hog rings on these seats?
Why are the katskin seat covers for a 2015 Silverado now $1200? Literally double
3yr of inflation and retail issues.
Ask Joe..your leader
How well did the original lid of the center console match the replacement katzkin covers?
Pretty close, but it comes with new leather for the center console lid so you replace that as well.
I have katzkin in my 2020 silverado crew cab for $750 in ebay. Katzkin is the best 👍
Awesome!
Did you try to steam some of the wrinkles out ?
I didn't have a steamer, but over time they have all settled away
Well done on the video editing! I bet that was as much work as the install!
Thank you!
How did you get the seatbelt on the center seat to go inside of the hole in the leather? I can't figure that part out for the life of me.
I have a 1913 ram truck I would love to have my seats all leather
I wanted to see some red and black interior 😁
How long did it take you to do all that?
Day and a half
Came out nice
Thanks
Thank you I'm getting ready to do mine
Good luck
Great job but it looks like in the video there’s a bunch of wrinkles. Did they smoothen out?
yes hey did. heat is your friend and it only took a few days with the truck in the sun to smooth out the wrinkles. If you want to speed it up a steam machine while installing is important.
Was thinking about a GMC elevation. Leather is not even an option. Being in Canada I am sure they will cost way more than $600 + exchange rate.
Check out Clazzio seat covers. Quality wise I’d say they’re on par with katzkin and also they’re a bit cheaper as they’re only a seat cover and don’t require you to take off they factory cloth
What’s the difference on these and seat covers from autozone?
It replaces the upholstry instead of covering it. Much nicer finish in the end, similiar to factory
I'm looking at a '22 F150 Platinum and the stock interior colors are Butt Ugly.
Going one with 1007 miles on it for a steal and I think it hasn't sold cuz of the interior.
With the money saved I can replace the interior and still be ahead...
I really applaud what you did great job👍👏👏👏
Thanks
Very nice, I’d love to do this to my car.
You should!
@@JrsGasolineAlley I looked up how much for my Golf and it ain’t $600!! 😝
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching
how did he find that 10mm ?
Lol
how well does it hold up with dogs etc?
So far so good with my dog!
Wow that’s a lot of work and it looks 👍 great
Great vid
Thanks
Awesome job !!
Thank you! Cheers!
27:40 why so many wrinkles on the leather? Is that normal?
It's not real leather, it's called faux
You keep calling it leather but it's not. It's called faux, fake leather, but it does look better than cloth.
HELLO JR'S , thank you very much for your video.
Sorry for the trouble, could you help me please with the steps to buy only the set complete ( front and back ) of the seat covers to my chevy silverado 3500HD 2009, please.
I ASK YOU FOR HELP, BECAUSE WE WAS WATCHING THE PAGE OF katzkin AND THEY ONLY SHOW US THE BUY OF THE COVER SEAT BUT WITH INSTALLATION IN SITES AUTHORIZED BY katzkin... AND we want to install the set cover seat (like you did in this video).
WE DON'T WANT THE INSTALLATION MADE FOR THEM.
PLEASE, CAN YOU TELL ME HOW DO YOU DO TO BUY ONLY THE SEAT COVER SEAT COMPLETE???? PLEASE.
i hope you can answer to me soon. Thank you very much! =) (WE LIVE IN U.S.A.)
Links to purchase them like I did are in the video description
Great job man. I have been thinking of upgrading but I want to go OEM. Please do an update video on the wrinkles see how that has gone for you.
Will do that'll be in my one year of ownership video that comes up in February. but these settled in and look great at least in my opinion
Yes, OEM on has leather on the faces, the rest (sides and back pieces) is pvc vinyl. Katzkin is all leather and a higher quality leather.
The standard lariat leather is trash. Katzkin is much better quality.
i wonder if anyone sells seat covers like this for a 2014 toyota camry because im buying one now but it has ugly tan cloth seats
How did u get rid of the air bag light once it came on?
No airbag light came on. The way i did this (and provided instructions) avoids that from happening.
@@JrsGasolineAlley oh ok yea I disconnected the battery did the process and got an airbag light trying to figure out how to clear it any ideas?
I know it's 7 months old question, maybe this will help someone else doing the same job. SRS/Airbag system is checked at startup, each and every startup. Even if you had the seats out and it triggered a code when out, when you plugged them back up and cycled the ignition it would not see any faults and the airbag light would clear.
My elevation has storage boxes in back seat.
Because it's a crew cab. You can get this for a crew cab with those boxes
Why dont just put them over the cloth??
Because then they would be baggy and loose. You need them to be secured to the seat frame.
Getting my truck done right now but it’s way more than $600.00
Well yeah cause you are having someone else do it. If you buy through my link and do it yourself it costs $600
They are now almost $1,200 in mid 2023. Lol.. local shops will install for $1700-1900 or so.
Gotta love that inflation
I’ll install them for $500 here in Cali Bakersfield
Hey buddy would you sell your stock seat covers my helper got caulk all over mine
For sure. Email me at jrsgasolinealley@gmail.com
Leatherado
Lol
Great job... loosk way better the OEM ..
Thank you very much!
Where in the hell do you get the price for self installation??? I've looks at the sight and they say that it has to be dont by one of their "authorized" installers. Thats bullshit!!!!
The links in the video description. A seller has them on ebay, although he raised the price to $1,000. Luckily as many of the commenters in the video have said if you send a best offer of $600 he will take the deal.
I wish the Nissan Titan seats were that cheap
The beauty of a mass produced truck.
Good video, BUT I was disappointed that you didn't have or use the red seats like in you click bait thumbnail.
So clickbaity my gosh how will you liv.
I think the leather seats on the LT’s ain’t real leather
If I try to do that .. my truck will be totaled the same day
They 1k now
Too much work for me lol wonder how much it cost to have someone else to do it for me
Katzkin quoted me $1500 installed for my truck. Figured for $900 I could do a little work, lol
The website quoted me $2K for parts and install
The shop told me $1500
Don’t know how you got them for 600$…a basic set like shown is over 1,000$
This video was made 3yr ago... so inflation has taken it's toll
