I loved how she presented the second clutch of roses to her parents, I have seen them flung or thrown...she looked with great love and esteem at her parents and gently tossed the roses towards them. Shows a true artistry.
Karen Katz it was very humble, like telling her parents „you may choose who becomes my prince“. I prefer that to the arrogant version (throwing away the roses 🌹 like „Forget it, you are all not good enough for me“)
Arantza Rojas could i ask you a question? When i watch rose adagio videos, i found that there are two different choreographies for Aurora's entrance. One with jetes and one without. Can you tell me why?
I agree this is truly beautiful and certainly one of the best but for the absolute best - check out one of the rare clips of Darcey Bussell (Royal Ballet) dancing classical. Her Rose Adagio is the best ever! Full of the most beautiful artistry but also technically superb. She is Sublime.
If you saw Cynthia Gregory, you wouldn't write that this one was the best. That opening, gymnastic split extension was vulgar and flashed the audience like a red district stripper would do.
According to Mariinsky theatre she's only a first soloist, but in my opinion she's one of the best ballet dancer in the whole planet. Her rose adagio is a pure lesson of classical ballet. She' s divine and she deserves a theatre that recognizes her talent. Thanks Olesya.
Osvaldo Di Gennaro She is remarkable. Even Svetlana doesn’t return to 5th between each balance with the four princes-at least in the version here on RUclips. And other than taking the 5th position she hardly moves at all. Beautiful.
Voracious Reader exactly. Multiple pregnancies are not good for a ballerina’s carrier. This is why most ballerinas start having children later on in their carrier and usually don’t have many

The is by far the best Rose Adagio I’ve seen. And I’ve seen quite a few. Olesya’s balance, her technique, musicality and delicate movements are exquisite. No zacharova, no lopatkina , not even tereshkina have her balance. She makes it look so effortless its amazing . Im glad she was promoted to prima recently. She is the best ballerina Marinsky can offer

she totally makes people forget how difficult the rose adagio is, and only remember her as Aurora herself.... such breathtaking elegance, technique and artistry!!! Brava to Novikova, and it's probably time to give her the long overdued principal title!!

everything she's doing requires such strength, balance and precision that you KNOW her body's in pain, yet she looks so graceful and effortless that she could be frolicking through a meadow... absolutely incredible
Breathtaking! Russian Ballerinas not only had an astonishing technique but they express EMOTIONS...All kind of emotions! They are,in my opinion, ARTISTS!...Just look at their faces when they dance...
Absolutamente brillante!!!
I do believe this is the best I've ever seen of rose adagio by any primas. She was utterly perfect in every move and characterization of Aurora. I wasn't even aware of her till I saw this video and it's unfortunate we in the west didn't get to see these magnificent performers untill many years later. I hope she's still dancing as a prima ballerina in Mariinsky.

To my opinion Russian ballerinas art the best in the world. She does everything so easy when its a very diffucult variation. From a former ballerina :)
This is the best Rose Adagio I have see. No wobbles in the infamous Attitude promenades and utterly and serenely in control the entire time! BRAVA Olesya! Oh, does anyone know how tall she is? She has a wonderfully long body line!
Cristine Giannetto She must be around 5 ft 6 or 5 ft 7 (168- 170 cm), my estimation. She‘s shorter than I thought. I stood next to her when I gave her flowers after a performance, and I‘m 5 ft 9 (175 cm). I agree she has such a wonderful body line! Everything about her is beautiful. Hair, face, skin, teeth... she looks like one of those dolls I had as a child. Oh, and that smile... she‘s just wonderful. And her three kids are equally adorable
Lovely lovely lovely. In the finale, although she missed her balance a bit on the first one, the following ones were some of the best balances I have ever seen (and I did once youtube to look at every version of Rose Adagio). She suits this role so very much. Bravo.
I watched the most beautiful rose in my garden recently, and there was quite a hefty storm and much gusty wind but the rose stood tall, its delicate petals still bright and spread out, it withstood the summer hail and wind, and this beautiful, strong ballerina reminds me of this lovely flower! Isn't ballet just wonderful....🌹
This dancer has, to my eye, a beautiful head placement and upper back posture. Also, she has a wonderful lift and stretch through her torso. And also, some interesting detail in the use of her hands. I don't care for extreme extensions in classical dance. I say save it for contemporary. Your hips and rib-cage are displaced and, classical ballet is about line, and, in particular, pure line. That is what has separated it for one hundred years now from modern dance(to wit Isadorah Duncan who is the one who started rejecting the pure lines in most every way possible). The aim, in classical has always been to have as much extension as possible withOUT distorting the spine or having displacement in the triple square blocks of the shoulders, rib-cage, and hips/pelvis. If you were to sketch it and reduce the lines to their most simple essence, it's a completely different look between contemporary/modern and classical dance. Why does it matter? Because the essence of classical dance is what makes it classical dance. If we all choose as a culture to change that, okay. But I won't go to the ballet as much (I already don't) and to me it looks much more severe and just isn't as attractive. Well, to each his own. As long as the likes of Cynthia Gregory are on UTube and on video, I'll stay home watch that any day over going to theatre and plunking down the big bucks to see extreme sports with some, a little, emotional overlay. Of course this dancer is hugely talented and beautifully trained and very accomplished. So, bravo!
I just loved your description about classical ballet. A long time ago I had a Russian ballet teacher and she was very strict but we knew she loved us. She expected the best out of us and we gave it. Ballet is so much more than just a physical act. It requires great which carries on in your life later on.
@@kathymyers7279 Seriously? She was one of the greatest technicians of her time, and I still feel her Rose Adagio set a bar that few equaled and none exceeded. I Love her aurora so so much😭😭I can't find a reason why she still stay as 1st sololist, she definately deserves to be the principal👏👏
I think this is the best interpretation I've seen.
The only complaint that I have with this video, is that the camera is often focused too long on the upper body of the ballerina.
All of that balancing is made more impressive by the fact that she's on a raked (tilted) stage. Amazing.
