Another flat tutu, no layers underneath, to hide the crotch. Also a half-hearted attitude for the promenades. Technically very correct, but no warmth to her dancing.

Before everybody comes at me, I know she goes on to be a principal I’m just saying that this particular performance really is not actually an example of the best that this can be done. I’m speaking on this particular video.

I’m sorry but I’m gonna have to disagree with a lot of the commenters here. I much prefer Viviana Durante. This is too much jacking of the leg into the earlobe, there’s a lot of nuance and gesture lacking here, this is just a lot of leg whacking honestly. This is just going for 180° at every possible moment and my God how loud her shoes were when she entered, totally unnerving. Should not be able to hear her shoes like that. That she was actually only the first solo test when this performance occurred is accurate. Go watch the Royal ballet’s Durante do this . She goes on to be a very lovely dancer and the rest of her career but this is an immature performance. Just because you can kick your legs super high and have exaggerated lines it doesn’t make you a good dancer. Maybe some of that immaturity came across as appropriate for the character of Aurora in this particular instance it wasn’t actually acting it was just her natural state. We have to stop equating circus tricks with good dancing. And my God when she was going from Suiter to suitor in the balances, she couldn’t let go of one of them for more than a half a second. The best dancers in the world can let go of one of the princes and stay on balance for multiple seconds before having to take the hand of the next one. It’s not a bad performance at all it’s just not anywhere near the best in the world like people are fawning over here . Sorry.

One of the few Russian ballerinas to take the attitude pose with both arms lifted into 5th en haut. I very much appreciated her facial expressiveness and her making eye contact with each cavalier. Of course, technically almost perfect--en dedans a la seconde pirouette needs more confidence--and I wish she didn't feel she had to do those anti-Petipa super-high developpes. We know she can do them--so do something more in keeping with the Petipa style. I think Pyotr Ilych would present her with a bouquet of roses for dancing so beautifully to his glorious music.

Le finezze di Olesya, quando scende dalle punte dal batteman scende solo con il piede sinistro, mentre il destro risale direttamente dalla punta, mai visto. Peccato che non si impegni, è dotata come nessuna mai.

This one is a robotoid. I don't get the attraction everyone has for it. It has the same plastered on smile no matter what it dances and the body is stiff with no plasticity.

The is by far the best Rose Adagio I’ve seen. And I’ve seen quite a few. Olesya’s balance, her technique, musicality and delicate movements are exquisite. No zacharova, no lopatkina , not even tereshkina have her balance. She makes it look so effortless its amazing . Im glad she was promoted to prima recently. She is the best ballerina Marinsky can offer

During all that NIGH ON IMPOSSIBLE pointe work her foot LITERALLY STAYED LIKE A BLOCK OF GRANITE THROUGHOUT!!!!! I don't claim to be any authority on ballet, but I'm ONLY JUST getting my jaw back in place after it went through the floor!!!! I don't think EVEN Margot Fonteyn managed to stop her pointes from wobbling during certain parts of that solo!!! In fairness that could be, in part, down to the way in which the shoes were designed during her career. Does anyone know if the design of pointe shoes has changed significantly since Fonteyn's time in order to offer the dancer more support?

was soll eigentlich diese ständige, nervige klatscherei im publikum ? bei jedem équilibre, bei jeder pirouette ? vielleicht auch noch wenn ihr développé bis zu den ohren geht…. das wäre etwa in einer koloraturarie nach jedem hohen ton und nach jeder fioritura zu klatschen…. wo bleibt der stil ? schade ! es stört die wunderbare musik und der applaus am schluss reicht völlig aus….
