    Thanks for posting this scene.
This is a lesser example of a subtly that later STTNG seasons largely lost...military familiarity.
This scene has sort of a military banter/formality 'feel' to the dialog between the two captains that later seasons, sometimes lacked.
This makes sense as Gene Roddenberry was ex-military and ex-cop.
Whilst, none of the other Executive Producers had the slightest history of military/police background.
So, after Roddenberry got sicker (and eventually died in 1991) his influence and background would depreciate.
To the point that Starfleet from 1991 onwards, felt more - to me - like a government, bureaucratic hierarchy rather than a military one (though I realize the military is technically a government bureaucracy).
    For better or worse.

Star Trek Takes place 800 million years from now ... After Man has populated the Galaxy and then after a Galactic wide event , everyone started from scratch stuck on whatever planet they were originally on , and forgot..... Then in the New Earth year 800 million years later on April 5th 2063... you know the rest..
