    *Video Description:*
    🎣 *Savage Gear SGS2 Review: Unleashing 4,600 Casts!* 🎣
Welcome, fellow anglers! In this video, join me, Dan, as I spill the beans on why the Savage Gear SGS2 might not be your perfect match, even after enduring over 4,600 casts with this exact rod.
    ⚙️ *Rod Overview:*
This video is your guide if you've ever found yourself drowning in tabs, trying to choose the ideal shore jigging rod. The Savage Gear SGS2, priced just above $100, promises affordability without sacrificing performance.
    🏞️ *Features:*
With a length of 9'6" and made from Toray carbon, this rod provides a comfortable casting experience, crucial for those tight spaces along cliffs. The moderate-fast action of the SGS2 20-80g model is my secret weapon for achieving consistent 110m-120yd casts.
    🎣 *Jig Compatibility:*
But hold on, is the SGS2 truly a 20-80g rod? Well, not quite. Learn why sticking to the 40-60g range ensures optimal jig animation and maximizes your chances of landing some thrilling fights with fish in the 2-3 kg range.
    💪 *Hook-Up Ratio:*
One major perk? The hook-up ratio on bites is outstanding, thanks to the progressive blank. Say goodbye to lost fish due to popped hooks or slackline issues!
    🌊 *Guides and Durability:*
Equipped with SeaGuide Gunsmoke SW Guides, the SGS2 stands the test of time without breaking or rusting, ensuring longevity in saltwater conditions.
    🎣 *Casting Mastery:*
Discover the art of pendulum casting to unlock the full casting potential of the SGS2. This technique utilizes the rod's progressive action, allowing for effortless, fatigue-free casting.
🚫 *When the SGS2 Isn't Your Best Bet:*
While the SGS2 excels in smaller to medium-sized fish scenarios, hear about instances where targeting larger species might warrant considering other options.
📺 *Watch the SGS2 in Action:*
Curious to see the SGS2 in action, hooking a giant Amberjack? Check out the linked video for an adrenaline-pumping experience!
    👍 *Final Verdict:*
In conclusion, if you're seeking an affordable rod for a great time with smaller and medium-sized fish, the Savage Gear SGS2 is your go-to at around $100. However, if you're after larger game, it might be worth exploring other options.

    • @NicodaFishing
      @NicodaFishing  5 месяцев назад +1

Thank you for the comment! Yes, you are correct. It weighs just above 350g and I think some of that is attributed to the large amount of EVA foam the makes the handles. I use it with a 6000 Spheros and have not felt any fatigue. That being said, my Sakura Shükan 60-120 only weighs 300g and is over 10', so yes, the sgs2 is heavy for its size.

Maan thanks for the videos, great content. I just got my SGS2 150gr version for my heavier jigging setup with the new 23 Daiwa BG SW, will be going on a fishing trip next week to test it out. Unfortunately SGS2 is the only budget rod in this category in Bulgaria, and even here its missing from the stores, i had to import mine from Germany, so is the reel bought if from Japan, not much choice in my area, but have to scratch the itch i guess. Looking forward to the next vids.

Also amberjacks are very strong and fighter fishes. even u have best eqiupment, generally u cant landbase +10 Kg Amberjacks. By the way sgs2 20-80 is very ideal for shore jigging beginners, ı agree with u.

Thank you for the comment and the insight! You are right, but if someone has a fish over 4kg in rocky waters I would advise them to look for a rod with more backbone. Yes, if someone is just starting and is unsure if shore jigging is for them, this is a great option.

Honestly, in the situation described the problem was just the rod , not because it’s a savage gear sgs2 but mainly because it’s a light shore jigging rod. In the situation described only a very powerful rod could have turned the AJ head away from the rocks and the Spheros 6000 is perfectly able to withstand an occasional fight with an AJ of 10+ kg, even if of course it’s not the ideal solution if you target those fish so on this I agree with you

      @@NicodaFishing bro, i own the sgs2 series 30-100g and the 60-150g version.
now i'm thinking about buying a sakura. as i have seen in your other videos you also use a sakura. i have two options: the sakura shukan 1002HH or the salt sniper 1202XH for shore jigging with a focus on jigs (60-120gr) and hard lures (40-90gr). do you know these two models? paired with stradic sw 5000xg and saragosa 6000 as well as 8000. the salt sniper is described as fast and the shukan is regular fast. target fish depending on the region is always bonitos, albacores, amberjack, grouper and snapper. what you think? the reason for purchase would be an alternative to my sgs2 models. cheers!

    • @NicodaFishing
      @NicodaFishing  7 месяцев назад +1

I would say this after using the Sakura Shukan 60-120g for 6 months that there are some good things and some not so good things.
      The Price is Incredible!
What I also like about it is that it weighs almost nothing and I can fish all day together with a saragosa 8000.
Jigging is a complete Joy! A 100g jig is so easy, no matter the shape of the jig.
      The cons are:
The fuji guides started rusting after 2 months around the feet and the ceramic ring.(I wash my rod after every session and hang it horisontally in a well ventilated room to dry.)
The reel seat has something loose inside which sounds like a metallic ring that keeps making noise. I have to loosen and tighten the reel several times per session to make it stop.
Casting takes some time to learn because if you dont load the rod fully, i.e hold the line in your finger for an extra milli second, the line will then always loop around the top guide. This took me a while to get used to.
I have not hooked any really big fish yet with this rod, but the back bone feels a bit light to be honest.

    • @NicodaFishing

I will probably use it for more pelagic fishing in the future and get something more solid for AJ.

I have felt huge improvement with my jigging lately. I haven’t snag and not lost lure in the past few sessions. I caught lots of fishes too!

I really like the savage gear jigs however it’s available in australia. I don’t want to buy from the US because it’s expensive. I ordered something from Ebay the looks similar to that hopefully it works ☺️

So good to hear from you man! I was wondering how it has been going and it's really awesome to hear you're having great success!
Now you are hooked and addicted for life haha.
Yeah, losing jigs becomes less frequent when you start to learn your spot and you will start losing some when you try new places.
I can understand that it is a bit difficult finding savage gear over there, but like you said there are lots of other brands that work just as well. It is just a matter of catching that first fish on a new jig, then you will have confidence in that as well!
So happy to hear it's going well for you brother, tight lines!
