- This is part 2 of Henry VIII's last 3 wives. We see Catherine Parr's transformations and how she might have looked in real life.
Catherine (Katherine) Parr (1512-1548) was Henry VIII's 6th and final wife. She was married twice before Henry. She was mature and knowledgeable and she knew how to use this to navigate married life with The King. She never had any children with Henry VIII but did marry one last time after Henry died.
In this video I recreate her portraits to show how I think she might have looked in real life.

(If Henry's wives were part of Harry Potter, I think Catherine Parr would be a Ravenclaw)
More Tid Bits on Catherine Parr:
A) 1544-1547; She published 3 books. The first woman to publish a book in England, in English under her own name, (but not the first female English writer;1393).
B) Her £7000 yearly allowance from Henry is about 3-4 million today.
C) Her last husband Thomas Seymour is believed to have fancied the young Lady Elizabeth, the future Queen during his marriage to Catherine.

catherine was such an independent woman and i think that speaks volumes on her especially at the time. it’s sad that she was scolded for marrying many times yet henry did the same but the double standards are crazy
Historians have never found conclusive proof if that baby girl actually survived or not. Sweating sickness claimed the lives of the sons of her unwilling caretaker, so quite possibly she perished, by starvation or neglect, if not the likely illness.. then again, no one can be sure... Are there unknown descendants today?
I'm obsessed with Tudor History...also the Roman Empire. I enjoy how calming your voice is. I'm so happy I found your channel...if I may I'd like to suggest video's on the Roman Empire and Pompeii as well.
Same here 😊
I was very passive about Tudor history until I found this channel and now I am in the midst of binging all the Tudor related videos I can find. I came here for the video about Charles Hapsburg's family tree and now my RUclips recommendations are forever altered.
I'm also obsessed with ancient egypt
To anybody interested, she most likely was strawberry blond. That hair colour can seem more to red and more to blond depending on season, lighting etc and accounts for her different colour hair in almost each potrait. Hence notion she was redhaired and that she was blond. Nope, she was in between. There are two supposed locks of hairtaken from her remains, and one is strawberry blond and one is platinum blond. Platinum is fake. No way platinum hair would look red at all.
By the way, Catherine's pregnancy with Seymour was surprise because she was married 3 times before and had no child. Elizabeth Woodville had her last child in her early 40s and wasn't only one. Tudor women gave birth to children aged 35+.
Some of these painters did them dirty
Did Sir Thomas Seymour do a kissy face? 😗 I got a kick out of that! Great video!
She looks like Scarlett Johansson when she’s animated.
Scarlett should play Catherine Parr. Right?
I was thinking the same thing! Like Scarlett Johanssons & Keira Knightly s love child! Very pretty!
I was thinking Drew Barrymore
No, I don't think that they look alike at all.
My hands are ordained to touch books, fidget toys and cups of boba tea and not ordained for touching needles and spindles nor crowns and scepters
Well done.
How hypocritical, is that Henry can marry right after he beheads a wife, and she has to wait until a certain time.
Ah yes, an old hag in her 30's in the eyes of a *man in his 50's* 😆 you can reslly see the time and it's perspection on women and their purpose.
Both Catherine's (not Howard) are often depicted as older women when they were truly women in their prime. In those times it was a custom for taking a teenage wife propably for the reason that they technically had more time to bear more children.
Thus women past their mid 20's were often depicted as "older" even when the man was practically a mummy already 🤣
Yes Catherine was still a young woman when she married Henry. I always thought she was Henry's prettiest wife with her heart shaped face and fine features. But it's hard to tell from court paintings, which were highly stylized.
Lol
Sadly, not much has changed since, though we like to fool ourselves into thinking otherwise. Political correctness may prevent most modern men (and women) from saying as much out loud, but few consider women past their mid-twenties young / in their prime.
It is still universally acceptable for men in their 40's, 50's and even older to engage in romantic relationships with women in their 20's, while women dating men considerably younger than themselves is, at best, viewed as distasteful, and at worst, downright scandalous.
It's pointless to pretend that this could ever change - it can't and won't.
@@Lana-pk5go Well hey if it can't change, we can at least silence the busybodies who think their opinions of other people's relationships are so important that they must shout them from the roof tops. Though as a woman who has always preferred an age gap (older guy), I can tell you it's nowhere near as accepted as you think it is. That's where my vitriol against the busybodies comes from.
une bien jolie femme, qui su négocier son mariage en faisant promettre au roi de pas la tuer. Elle était intelligente et très belle..elle soigna le roi, l'écouta et le calma..c'était une relation calme..ce dont ce roi sur le déclin avait besoin..
Thank you so much for this! I love learning about the Tudors , especially henry's 6 wives . Excellent job ! I feel like I can speak to them through the screen.
Excellent work! Although it would be nice to have the different versions of the animation to be compared side by side to see the similarities in the facial features.
She's beautiful and smart
And apparently a good wife to him but he just couldn't protect her after he died.
I believe too many people were envious of her status
Best channel ever!
Could there be a video of the Medici family or Machiavelli? I loved studying about them for my Renaissance and Reformation class. :D
Maybe Martin Luther or Dante Aligheri and Virgil? :D
Great channel. Your work is appreciated. It'd be awesome to Watch Catherine of Medici's family come alive.
Fantastic, thanks very much.
Strong brave woman
Could you do Juana the “mad” in real life next? Love these
Ancient historic persons would be extremely interesting. The obvous like Cleopatra and Ceasar, but more so the less known. Personally I'd be thrilled to see Artemisia II of Cara, a very fascinating woman, or her famous husband Maussollos of Caria whose burial site the Mausoleum of Halikarnassos was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
I just loveee your channel . This is amazing!
I was reading this Alternate History Wiki where Mary and Philip II had son.
Do Phillip II of Spain and his dad Charles V next!
This is my favorite Queen. She was intelligent and could handle Henry She's a survivor.
i find her really pretty & attractive. I wonder why i have never read about her good looks...
I love this!!!! Will you do Mary Shelley?? 🥰😍
Vlad the impaler and Gengis Khan would be interesting
Elizabeth lived with my ancestor Kate Parr in Chelsea London after Henrys death .Yours Sir Kevin Parr Bt
It would be cool if you did Stefan Dusan of Serbia
She was 36 when she died, not exactly geriatric.
Her child was smothered as she was in the way of the minders family
could you do Lady Margaret Beaufort (mother of King Henry VII)?
Catherine parr is my favorite she was a beloved mother to henrys children ❤ even Elizabeth had her portrait in the chequres ring
The title of this video is hilarious 😆
What's hilarious about it?
Love to deepen in the family Mozart… her sister who educated him to be a genius. Thank you -)
She is the wife that I know least about.
It doesn't look like writers are very interested to write about her.
She had blonde hair. Lockes of it survive.
Actually that platinum blond lock is probably fake. There is 2nd one which is strawberry blond and that is the hair colour she had. That is why in some of her potraits her hair is towards red, in others towards blond. Her hair colour was in between those two.
Anne of Cleves had blond long hair.
I’d like to see Queen Elizabeth, Edwards wife & grandmother to Henry viii
Yes. Here is Elizabeth Woodville: ruclips.net/video/WT8iJMl6GgM/видео.html
All of them look very similar.
Marie luise d Orleans queen spain please
Could you do Antonio Vivaldi?
History is so grim 😖
😊
A very good program
Oh for sure a Ravenclaw, her love of knowledge eclipsed her own safety to the point of her near death before she realized TO FAR! But then she put those smarts to the test and talked her way out of it...Rowena approved.
The Tudors ROCK!!!💯💖💕🌹👑
She looks so beautiful to me.
Would love to see what you do with Henry VIII’s sister, Margaret Tudor, Queen of Scotland.
Thanks. I did do Margaret Tudor here: ruclips.net/video/oANBUb6QqAo/видео.html
@@MortalFaces THANK YOU!!!
Just amazing work. I just email you please check your gmail ;-)
So she was THE original gold digger
Did you miss the part where she had no choice about her first three marriages? One and two were arranged by her parents and number three was at the request (read: order) of the king. Her fourth husband was the only one she got a say about.
None of these royals were attractive.
