How PRINCE ALBERT looked in Real Life (YOUNG)- With Animations- Mortal Faces

  • Prince Albert (1819-1861) was Queen Victoria's husband. I recreated his portraits to show how he'd look in real life. Here on Mortal Faces I try to bring historic portraits to life using my Photoshop skills, Cinema 4d and After Effects. All of these renderings are my own artistic interpretations. I also provide commentary throughout the video so it is easier for you to follow along about the lives on these topics. Of course all the renderings are just my own opinion.

Anyway, when they’d say yes, my mom or her friend would say, “Well you had better let him out!!! He’s going to suffocate in there!!!” 🤣🤣🤣🥲 My mom, always the kidder!

    Albert was a remarkable man. For an insight into his last illness and his death, Helen Rappaport's Magnificent Obsession is well worth a read. She thinks he didn't die from Typhoid, but from complete of undiagnosed Crohn's Disease and she provides strong evidence for that. As for Victoria, she enjoyed a good grieve. She went to pieces when her mother died in January 1861, despite hating her for years. She was completely hysterical when Albert died. Sure, they were both just 42, which is no age to die or be widowed. Victoria would have known as well that there was no chance of marrying again. Still, she remained in mourning for around 10 years and nearly brought the monarchy to its knees in the process. I think some of Victoria's grief was guilt. When Albert was ill she accused him of malingering and essentially faking it. The only one allowed to be unwell was Victoria. She was incredibly self obsessed. As for the public, though they had disliked Albert when he married Victoria, they warmed to him after the success of the Great Exhibition in 1851, which he planned. When he died the public reaction was very much like the reaction to Princess Diana's death.

      She was a harridan and a trial to be married to. You can see it in the letters.
      He was a massive talent, Living out the best traits of a Germanic Virgo. Worth ten of her. I think he died exasperated and worn out. In old astrology Virgo’s carry weaknesses particularly in the intestines. So the Crohn’s makes complete sense.

      @tracyhodgkins7516 2 года назад +2

      @@christina3521 It was the youngest, Beatrice, who had the job of editing Victoria's diary. If I recall correctly she burned letters too. I think Victoria was very aware of how she wanted to be perceived by posterity. I think she wanted to be seen as a victim in many ways, firstly at the hands of her mother and Sir John Conroy because of her 'tragic' childhood (sure, the Kensington system was controlling, but she wasn't an unhappy child in the way she wanted people to think. She went to the Opera at least twice a week as a child) and then because she lost Albert. I think she resented her children for showing any sign of happiness and I think she wanted to be the centre of attention. There is some evidence that she didn't even like her children to be friends with each other, let alone other people. She had to be their sole focus and for years she reminded them at every opportunity that they couldn't disobey her because not only was she their mother, she was also their Queen. I think she was truly dreadful.

Not only was he dang good looking, he was an honestly decent man, who never cheated, stayed home and wasn’t running around with cronies, and was a hands on father, which was extremely rare especially for the upper/ruling classes. And they had 9 kids! I know portraits from back then were idealized, (I especially love the Winterhalter when they are with their first baby, basically still newlyweds, 22?🤔) but when he was young many people called him the “handsomest prince in Europe”. The photos were see were when he was older, tired, and he had suffered from bad heath basically his whole life. Nice video.

    I rather suspect that John Brown did help Victoria out of mourning.

      He did, but not in the way you think. In her own words, Victoria missed "having a man about the house to rely on." John Brown was a no-nonsense sort of man, who took charge of situations and also didn't hesitate to tell Victoria exactly what he thought - in short, he was a lot like Albert, in personality if not in looks. But no, they weren't lovers or secretly married - Victoria's children used to make fun of Brown and jokingly call him "Mama's lover" - if they HAD been lovers, it would have been no joke.

      Victoria was actually reasonably pretty in her teens and early twenties. She had long light brown hair, large blue eyes, and a pink and white complexion. She was also a graceful dancer and reportedly also had a lovely crystalline voice. It was only in her late twenties and thirties that she started to pile on the weight due to her multiple pregnancies, and her weight gain increased again after Albert's death as she would comfort eat in her depression.

      @chooseyourpoison5105 2 года назад +5

      @@bimbobaggypants4820 Nah that's just how it was back then. The upper classes considered it sensible to marry within limited circles - it meant you got to keep family estates together, you got to marry someone from a similar background, plus as a bonus you probably already knew your spouse and all their foibles. They didn't really understand genetics then. Fun fact: it was Charles Darwin's marriage to his own cousin and the subsequent death of their beloved but sickly daughter, that first got Darwin questioning how such a thing could have happened, and sparked his interest in genetics, culminating in his famous theory of evolution.

    Where did Prince Albert learn to speak English? Did he have lessons in Germany or England or both?

    • @elftails
      @elftails 2 года назад

      +Albert learned to speak English from reading Shakespeare, specifically Hamlet, according to the Royal Archives

    • @feyrol42
      @feyrol42 Год назад

      Albert was trained from birth that he would marry Victoria, so learning English was a top priority in his very carefully constructed education. Plus, it wasn't unusual for royalty to learn English seeing as the UK was a great power at the time.
