It was just a regular night. Keanna was in the kitchen, cooking her little sister something to eat, when she heard the doorbell ring. To her surprise, it was the police. The officer asked for Keanna’s mom and dad, so she went to get her parents. The police officer stressed the importance of Keanna and her sister going upstairs, but Keanna and her sister were being nosey and listened to the entire conversation.
As they listened from the bathroom, Keanna and her sister overheard their mom getting the worst news of her life. The police officer told them that their brother had been killed in his apartment. It was one of the hardest moments of Keanna’s life. She heard her parents screaming and comforted her sister and she started crying hysterically.
Her mom pulled herself together and told her and her sister to go upstairs and pray. They prayed all night long.
Over the next few days, Keanna and her family had to make arrangements for her brother’s funeral. She was so thankful that she had her family as a support system, and she doesn’t know how she would have been able to get through any of it without them.
Later that week, Keanna started to imagine having to see her brother in the casket. She didn’t think she was going to have to see her brother like that for so many years - not at the tender age of 22 years old. The entire experience was emotional and really hard to get through, but she was so happy she had her family by her side.
Time has gone by and Keanna still has days that she’s sad - whether she’s at school, with friends or just hanging at home, she has difficult days. Her mom cries every single day, and her dad keeps his feelings to himself. Her sister always brings up her brother and memories they shared.

Parents are not supposed to bury their kids it should be the other way around. Even babies can slip away.

this story hit close to home.... the same happened to me, the police on the door, the week of planning a funeral, crying for hours.., my brother died due an overdose on drugs back in November 2021 and couldn't bear hearing my parents crying and screaming because they lost a child, he was only 25... I sent you so much strength and just know that the pain will never go away but over time you will be able to handle it and heal♡, always remember them, they are always with you♡

Condolences to this family too. My dog died last Friday and I was utterly confused, shocked, and aching. It was so sad to see him lying on the ground, lifeless with a blanket covered on him :(

Jesus says to always forgive others even if you don't believe they deserve it. That includes murderers. Hard to do? Yes it is but you still have to do it. Because remember you didn't deserve to be forgiven either. Jesus didn't have to come and die for us and our sins. He could have let us all be doomed for hell. But He didn't because He loves us.

This is so sad to think about, her brother was 22 he had his entire life ahead of him, he could’ve built a family and all that. But he got murdered, may he Rest In Peace and May her family heal from this tragedy 🤍🕊

I know it was under different circumstances, but my uncle’s brother died many years ago at only 15 so I know what it’s like to lose a family member far too soon
He was on the back of his pickup truck, and his brother was driving.
They were going too fast and he fell off the back and got ran over. He died soon after
His mother never forgave him for driving with him on the back and he became a bad alcoholic until he died many years ago

Holding onto their memories is probably the best thing you can do for them. Even if they're gone they would be proud to know that your honoring them in that way

wow this is insane, my brother also passed away, not to murder, but he did pass away 2020 & he was only 21 years old i never thought i’d have to see him like that either especially so soon. I remember something like this happening. We had neighbors who had a bunch of kids. One of them was their oldest son, a boy around 11-12. He was a wild child, always exploring and having fun. I would unofficially babysit him sometimes when the parents weren't around and he and my younger sister became really good friends.
One night, I noticed an ambulance was in our cul-de-sac and I was so confused as to why. Then, I heard from my parents that he had broken his neck falling down the stairs. They tried to rush him to the hospital, but...it was too late for him. I was in shock when I heard the news. A person who had been pretty close to me: gone, just like that. At 12 YEARS OLD. It was a tragedy.
I went to his memorial service and it was painful to look at every single one of his sisters' faces. They used to be so happy and upbeat when we all hung out, and now they were full of tears and sorrow...it was terrible.
It's never easy to see someone you care about go. But, no matter how short, they got the chance to live life to some extent. Of course, everyone deserves to enjoy it as long as they can, but what matters more is that you make the most of it...that's what I took from the experience.

I will never understand why people murder others 😕
Thankfully, I haven't experienced a loss of a loved one, but I have experienced two pet deaths. The way for me to get over it, is to think and maybe cry about it for two days, but after that, just try not to think about it. I got over my last pet death very quickly, but what still aches my heart is the fact, that my second pet died a few days after his birthday. He was only one year old.
My deepest condolences to you guys. I lost my aunt to heart failure. I yearn to see her everyday.
my mom had passed away back in early November from a heart attack. she had no health issues or any medical issues or any history and was fine the day before the attack. i am only a teenager and I had no clue what was going on but it was safe to say, it was the worst day of my life. appreciate your family, you never know when they will be gone. i miss my mom every day, she was and still is my best friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss, M B. It's really hard losing someone you loved especially, if it was a close family member. She loved you very much. Did you know that the Bible speaks of better times? John 5: 28, 29 says "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice, and come out." This scripture speaks of a coming near future where a new world is here and those who passed away will come back to life. Yes, they will be living again, and we will be able to see them again in Paradise Earth.

I’ve been there. My twin brother and I had to listen to the police officers tell my parents that our older brother committed suicide. My mom was screaming and crying and my dad had to hold her down. His death had a huge negative impact on our family. I miss him.
This is similar to when my Grandpa died. When he died we went to his funeral and raise fundraisers.

I couldn't imagine losing my brother or my sister. My sister lives across the country and me and my brother are in the same home. I sometime cry over my sister because she has another family and seems to like her other brother more than us. I will hopefully see her this summer. I miss her and if she sees this. ******* I miss you and wish I lived closer.

I know that feeling, I lost my grandmother 7 years ago and the last time I saw her was Christmas or New Years. and that year many other people in my family and family friends died in that early year. I also remember of a friend I had and knew when growing up died young too.

I didn’t know my uncle’s brother , as he died many years before I was born.

There was no 911 and no cell phones back then, and he unfortunately died minutes later.

Genuinely holding back tears. I have an older brother too and with him being a black man, it's extra dangerous to be out there. I hope to never have to experience this. I can only imagine what her and her family are going through and hope for nothing, but the best. Stay safe everyone.
That is horrible. I cannot imagine what they wen't through. I marvel at the mom for picking herself up, staying strong for her kids, and making all those reservations. Those kinds of people are the real heroes. If anything, if her brother lived a good life through the short time that he was alive, that should be enough to celebrate.
It’s a sign of strength to forgive people. You don’t fall into your grief so much that you want blood and revenge.

Two: It makes me worried when I move out in a few months, what if this happens to someone in my family or to me even.
I know how you feel. A few years ago I lost my dad and it still hurts.

My father died when he was 45 and I was (and I still am) 16. He wasn't murdered, but either way, I lost my father, and i cry at night sometimes. Rip 1975-2021

this touched something in me. my dad passed away in april from lung cancer (50) and I (13) was very close to him as a kid. i personally thought i could handle seeing my dad in the coffin but when i saw the top of his nose i just broke down and walked out. you’re very strong!
