Because we have so many horrible and oppressive laws, that everyone is now paranoid.

@Martin Sanders I think we're already seeing the opposite side and audit benefits of this. More and more audits, more and more times the Police refuse to come out to business, more we see colleagues telling their other colleagues to leave auditors alone, more security guards and receiving training on the subject.
I concur. It’s truly hilarious watching three grown men in full toddler mode filling their nappies over being video recorded - after literally walking up to a man on a public pavement, and attempting to obtain his personal details, and limit his rights to do a perfectly lawful activity.
The obvious limitations of their own rights in this situation and how lamentably wrong they in their assumptions, are perfectly matched by the limits of their understanding of the law and the photographer’s rights.
They are as comical as they are sad, and their irrational fears and ludicrous imagined threats are the product of something deeply disturbing. And the mental gymnastics being performed by that lower middle management type could provide sufficient material for an entire doctorate thesis.
What we need to understand is that they auction cars…!🐑🐑🐑🙄👀🧐😎😜🙈

@@northernaudits Do you ever ring the company head office up and say you will do a GDPR class using their video? Pointing out all their failings. You could make a decent living out of it. If you rang them and asked if they do GDPR tests, and then said you will audit them, then afterwards show them the results. £300 a class. They might send you to every site.

It's quite remarkable how convinced these management Johnnies are that the assumptions they have made are actually law. I often wonder if they take advantage of the enlightenment you provide, or carry on under their misapprehensions.

Hi N A, yet again some fool comes over to you and tells you that you must have permission to film from a place that has public access, the fact that the property in privately owned has no relevance at all!, every site that is open to the public is open , open means open, as long as people are engaged in activities that are lawful there are no restrictions.
The fact that you are so willing to explain what you are doing to these people is very good and considerate of you but the fact that they do not understand the law is sad and unacceptable.
If they do not want the public to see what they have in their they must cover it up!.

Yes. That speccy guy from Aston Barclay is quite correct in saying he made the company liable by taking an action (engaging with you).
It's a bit like when you become liable for the postmam (or woman) breaks his (or her) leg after you clear snow from your path.
If you leave it uncleared, you uave no liability.
The cop was OK - despite a little cop-splain at the end about helicopters, was generally good in her approach
Why not just say its legal to film and record in public. Full stop. Your hesitancy snd pretence ignorance prolonged it all. This what makes it awkward for many auditors.
The cameraman knows what he is doing. He intentionally plays it as if he is cowered, let's the subjects rattle on about whatever they think the law is, for me, it's very clever how he pretends to let them think they are winning the day. Then carries on doing his thing anyway.
It's his style, which is unique these days, there was one cameraman who was similar in style, Mat 12028, I think that was the numbers, who played it like this.
