    I tried the recipe today and I should say I was a bit skeptical of the "lasagna sheets " since I thought it tasted a bit eggy but after I layered everything together....ooooh boy! it went down! hahahaha..... heaven on earth! pure perfection! loved it! many thanks for sharing xx

    I was afraid the lasagne would taste of only cheese, I need not have worried: the final result was fantastic. Once the faux noodles were added to the recipe and cooked, the a noodles had the a same texture as real noodles, same a taste too. I kept thinking what kind of witchcraft has the wolf done??!! another incredible recipe from the wolf.

    This was very good. The noodles were so inspiring that I decided to use the noodle recipe to make "bread." I poured 1/4 - 1/3 cup of the batter on to the silicone mat in disc shaped portions and baked 350 for 10-12 minutes. Then I place in a zip bag and refrigerate for a couple of days. They really hold up well. I have tried them with cheeseburgers, ham sandwiches, and did a very small test for grilled cheese. I now make "bread" in half batches which makes 6 nice sized portions. Thank you for answering all my prayers, Wolfe!

    Just in case anyone else was also curios, I crunched this into myfitnesspal without the meat, and got 204g of protein, 93g of carbs (77g net) , and 222g fats. If each serving size is 1/8 of the total than it would be 11g of net carbs, 25.5g protien, and 27.75g fats.

    I’ve been using this recipe for a couple years and it’s amazing! Honestly, I think it tastes better than noodle lasagna. It’s great if you’re doing keto/ low carbs. Here’s a tip when it comes to the ricotta cheese part: Add three eggs to the ricotta cheese and add Italian seasoning and mix it all together. This makes the cheese looser and easier to spread.

      29render - How long have you been low carb? It's an early symptom of the diet change, if you aren't prepared, but should disappear within a few weeks.
      Drink a LOT of water. Walgreens brand fiber supplement is good and tastes like orange jello. Adding apple cider vinegar to recipes will help too. Magnesium like Natural Calm. If all else fails, Swiss Kriss will open the gates.
      Still, it normally passes as your body adapts. I've ate this my last three meals and I'm fine.

    Just, to add simply if people are looking at this and don't understand why this is an acceptable meal and some would think it's unhealthy. This is a recipe for people who's bodies have undergone Ketosis, to put it very simply, majority of people's bodies use carbohydrates as their only (very primary) energy source, things like pasta/sugar/bread/rice etc. However, when you're in ketosis your body simply does not, at all, anymore use carbohydrates as your fuel source, instead, it uses fat. So, while this recipe is incredibly high in fat and you would NOT want to eat it if you aren't in Ketosis, for people that ARE in Ketosis, this is incredibly fantastic.
    When you're on Ketosis, you want 70% of all your calories to be FAT, 35-40% protein, 0-5% carbohydrate.
    For people who are saying it's CALORIES IN vs CALORIES OUT that matters, this is also true. However, typically people on Keto don't worry about calories in vs calories out until they're at least healthy average weight, because fats and proteins make you feel full really quickly, and for a long period of time. But on top of that: The big deal when it comes to Keto for weightloss, is when your body runs out of carbs on a normal diet, you get hungry and need more energy - When your body runs out of fat when you're in Ketosis; well, you have plenty of fat. Your body uses the fat that you already have regardless of food, so typically on Ketosis you're rarely hungry anyways, because you are your own energy source. It's the vitamins/minerals that you mind, food is largely negligible.
    If you want a bit of a mind fuck: Assuming you have minerals/vitamins covered by multivitamins or supplements of some sort, and you have water to drink. You can go MONTHS without eating a single bite of food and be fine. After the first week or so, you simply stop being hungry, and never get hungry. For months.

    • @susanreynolds9947
      @susanreynolds9947 5 лет назад

      anyone who has gone on a diet (keto or not) knows that after the first week or so you don't feel hunger and have to remind yourself to eat ...b/c your body is burning fat. I lost over 40 lbs eating anything I wanted including carbs and some sweets ... the hunger went away because I was burning fat... you DON't have to be in ketosis to experience that. .

    Depending on what you put in the sauce, this might even qualify as ultra low carb. I have to go on VERY low carbs and high protein the day before PET scans. My go to menu for that day is Parmesan-crusted stuffed chicken breast (recipe on my channel), but this could be a good option, too. It's funny how even though Italian foods are known for often being high in carbs, the flavor pallet lends itself well to low carb versions.

I make my bolognaise in a very similar way except I use a bay leaf chopped tomatoes and puree. I will be make the sauce with cream cheese etc instead of a bechemal that uses flour. I also cook mine in a wok as it is deeper. I always use fresh ingredients and can't understand why people need instant everything! I always make 2 of every thing and freeze one so that if I'm late back from work always have some nice food. I live on a tiny island were we can buy fresh food and veg of walls with a honesty box to leave your money. Instant food tastes horrid . Thanks for posting. If only there was a good potato substitute! Mashed cauliflower is nothing like it 🌞

      I find that mashed rutabaga does a great job of standing in for mashed potatoes. I make it exactly the way I would if making mashed potatoes, using a little butter, cream, salt & pepper.

      rutabaga does have carbs...so if your trying to stay under 20 you will need to really watch your portion. I love mashed rutabaga but I wont have it unless all of my weight is lost first

      rubbish unless its a small serve no matter what diet you on its still the calories in versus calories burned talk to your dietician though low carb and low sugar diets are likely better for you .. you still have to watch your intake in calories

    • @TheWolfePit
      @TheWolfePit  7 лет назад +95

      It's not rubbish, my wife and I both see a dietitian once a month and have done so for the past year and a half. On a low carb high fat diet you do NOT count calories. I'm not going to debate this, but there's too many uneducated comments about keto/lchf lifestyles from people that do not understand how it works that simply are not accurate.

    • @sasanach8
      @sasanach8 7 лет назад +9

      i know that you can never eat more calories than your body can burn any doctor on the planet will tell you i dint want debate either but you keep coming back you will have a little success without adding your caloric intake but you can not eat more than your body will burn its simple maths and science

    • @TheWolfePit
      @TheWolfePit  7 лет назад +59

      I don't keep coming back, I'm explaining you are not familiar with what you're talking about regarding the keto/lchf diet/lifestyle. My wife and I have both lost a significant amount of weight, all of our blood work stats, BP and pre-diabetic conditions have drastically improved or gone away living this lifestyle. You can argue all you want, but facts are facts. Before you comment again at least spend a few minutes and read a little about how it works.

    Mix 1 egg to ricotta cheese it's soo good

  • @akr01364
    @akr01364 7 лет назад

    I found that adding a requisite amount of stevia to the ricotta amps its flavor up a lot if you add a few pinches of salt to it as well. Salt in small amounts blocks your tongue from detecting bitter flavors and helps to taper the slightly bitter aftertaste of the stevia. Letting whatever there is of it left to be easily countered by everything else going on here.
    For those wanting more fiber, add a layer of frozen spinach (that you've seasoned) you've drained by wringing it out in a towel in the middle. Works great.

    this was a great, very filling low carb recipe and I know for certain I’ll be making it again, probably once a month or more. It tasted like an extra cheesy lasagna, and filled me up more than any lasagna I’ve had in the past, the recipe is easy to follow and looks exactly like it did in the video, which isnt common for a lot of youtube recipes. 5 stars, I’ll be watching a lot more of these recipe videos on top of my regular What Are We Eating!

The egg mixture holds the lasagna together with just one layer and tastes just like a normal lasagna! Hands down, you have something here. I did use the Rao Marinara sauce recommended by Ketofocus. Thanks for this recipe!! All I had to season literally was my hamburger meat. The sausage added its own flavor. I used the Tennessee sausage in the pack you have to squeeze out. LOVED IT ALL!!

      AJ Writer it's ketogenic diet, but basically yes you can lose weight with thease,Just forget to eat bread, soy,corn, rice,or Whatever thing that is high in carbs,things with sugar, that includes almost all fruits. but green vegies are ok,because they are really low carb. this is almost like a fuel change,most people run in carbs, but Keto people run in fat

    Larry, sorry for the late comment, but this is effing _brilliant_! I love it, and will definitely add it to my repertoire.
    One suggestion, regarding garlic. I get those big bags of peeled garlic from Costco, and use a slap-chop type device to rapidly turn them into minced garlic. Then I mold the resulting mince in an oval 2 TBSP measuring spoon, put the little globs on wax paper on a sheet tray, freeze them individually, then put them in a zip top bag. This way I always have plenty of minced garlic on hand, without resorting to that jarred stuff. I do this with ginger as well. Both keep very well in the freezer, and while I prefer to thaw them before cooking, I have discovered I don't really have to when cooking in a wok, for example. Chuck them into the oil, and they thaw pretty quickly. :)
