My first thought was that Russia could potentially break that route and piss Europe off a lot at the cost of pissing off China as well though which is why they have to make the piss off China part less dramatic and not cease their "strategic partnership". Agreed. At least in Old World geography, Istanbul is most strategic city, Black Sea/Caucasus most strategic region, if your goal is to control or profit from international trade. It's important to note that the One Belt One Road initiative is a broad concept and includes multiple projects and routes that connect China to Europe. The Middle corridor is just a part of it, that's all. Simple as that.
I'd say it's possibly a vital route for the project though, considering seas dominated by US and other corridors being very problematic. Also it's not clear if China will attack Taiwan, in that case sea routes would be impossible to use for Chinese trade... but of course Europe would still depend on it due to its huge scale of production. Maybe one major exception is the arctic sea, although it's up to the nature.

Admittedly I didn't learn about this until quite recently, but I think it would be fascinating if you did a video on the proposed East African Federation, a planned sovereign state composed of 7 African countries in 2023. It would be the world's fourth most populous country and has the potential to become a genuine African superpower, which would obviously have a huge impact on the geopolitics of the region and the world. There are tons of challenges, but it does seem like a genuine probability.
Pretty sure there's already been a video on the East African Federation on this channel. And I don't think there would be too much to say about the project that hasn't already been said in that video. To my knowledge (I periodically look up the topic to see if there's been any progress), the formation of the East African Federation is currently severely behind schedule. The draft for the new constitution was supposed to happen in like 2021. The implementation of a common market and a single currency also aren't going to meet their deadlines due to the member states of the East African Community not meeting various economic and fiscal criteria like low inflation. The EAC keeps growing, with Democratic Republic of Kongo joining in 2022 but the new member states will only make the process of forming a federation longer. That isn't to say that there has been no progress. Given time, I believe the EAF will eventually appear on the world map. And I'm really looking forward to that.
I hadn't really thought about the two choke points of Iran and Russia that the Caspian Sea divides central Asia into in terms of East-West relations. Personally, due to the complexities and uncertainties (as shown here) it is doubtful this would ever replace, or even be cheaper than direct sea trade. It is a great idea, and comes with benefits to all involved, but would cost a fortune in maintenance alone, we will see, I will plant a tree.
Agreed. It's just way, WAAAY cheaper to ship by sea and that's assuming there's no political issues with any of the countries through which the rail line traverses.
You forgot to say, the first train from London to China already used this route last year. Goods with train takes only 10 to 14 days to go from China to London. With ships its 45-60 days

The US should brutally prevent this. The easiest thing would be to send money and weapons to the Armenians, declaring them allies of the US, to cut off this corridor. The EU will only trade with those its master, the US, designates.
If all the countries between China and Turkey cooperate. And are not interfered with by their neighbors. Then it works. But everything needs to be aligned. Compare this to shipping by sea. Unless the United States steps in with it’s navy to block a sea route it stays open. Or the United States allows other countries to block trade. Which it never has
Hopefully Iran won't be a pariah state much longer. A Turkic union could be a great block that if strongly integrated could represent small states well in relations with large states.
I think the content of this video is especially important. As an economic advisor i would look into investing in south Italy, if (major) energy (sources) is / are supposed to be made available there. Also it came to mind that an opponent of Russia and China would benefit a lot from disturbances around the infrastructure project between Europe, Russia and China.
The traditional maritime route between China and Europe runs through the South China Sea, the Malacca Strait, the waters of the Indian Ocean and the Suez Canal. This route from China usually takes in 30-48 days. But I guess the above is best delivery durations.. with lots of weather, capacity, environmental issues.
I wonder how safe is the middle corridor. It seems like the cargo trains go through hundreds of kilometers traveling through empty land (which must be beautiful and untouched by construction). However, it could be very easy to steal whatever cargo is transported, so it seems. And at the same time it could be just as easy for nefarious characters to sabotage those trade routes with damaging the rail lines.
Most of the parts that railways going through is desert so ı don't think it would be worth it to steal a train full of products and move them with vehicles. Main reason of the project is lowering the cost in the first place

Luckily, China does need the West for their own economy to boom.
@@CakePrincessCelestia I think Russia is or has lost any bargaining power with the Chinese. China must have been horrified to see how quickly western unity and sanctions were imposed on Russia. China is in a straight jacket with respect to its two greatest trading partners (US & Europe). And this video provides the missing links to see how and where the cargo routes will pass. For Russia, I see no good outcome. I see this war more 'n more as a western trap - built on top of dead Ukrainiens.
Yeah. In the bigger picture, you end up with Poland's refusal to act as trade conduit, which forced Russia to reorient itself and take (parts of) Ukraine. Next up on Russia's plate will likely be Georgia.

The train, which traveled a total of 7,792 kilometers from Turkey to China, reached China in two weeks. Boron exports, which were carried out in approximately 45-60 days by sea, were carried out within 15-20 days by rail.
Our train departed from Ahılkelek station by following the Çerkezköy-Marmaray-Köseköy-Ankara-Sivas-Kars route on the Turkey-China track. The overseas track, on the other hand, reached Georgia-Azerbaijan-Caspian Sea Crossing-Kazakhstan and Xi'an city of China, respectively.

That corridor is revolution to further global trades
It's important to note that the One Belt One Road initiative is a broad concept and includes multiple projects and routes that connect China to Europe. The Middle corridor is just a part of it, that's all. Simple as that.
I'd say it's possibly a vital route for the project though, considering seas dominated by US and other corridors being very problematic. Also it's not clear if China will attack Taiwan, in that case sea routes would be impossible to use for Chinese trade... but of course Europe would still depend on it due to its huge scale of production. Maybe one major exception is the arctic sea, although it's up to the nature.

Its nice to finally see a vid from you about the belt and road that addresses some of the concerns about the viability of the project, feels like whenever you bring the topic up you usually gloss over them.
The whole project has always felt like a house of cards to me, and between the number and instability of participating nations, the longevity of the infrastructure (even not considering the dubious reputation of chinese construction, land based transportation has way more upkeep than sea), and china's support being the linchpin, the cards themselves don't look sound.
This road is for transporting high-value goods. Cars and mobile phones produced in Chongqing, China, and computers are transported through this road. Because the value is high enough and the speed is very fast. So there can be huge profits

The EAF would be really cool to see happen IMHO
