@@AyELTee88 Berkut doesn't have any surviving character data as a playable unit, nor does Fernand. In fact the latter DOES have PIDs referring to him as "Enemy Fernand" as do the hostile versions of Delthea, Zeke, Sonia and Deen; Berkut is referred to without any of that.
100% agreed. I think Berkut's performance in Echoes is perhaps the best voice acting Fire Emblem's ever had for a villain. Just impressive in general! I mean, he put 99% of the cast of Echoes to shame.
He probably would use these in his original iteration, as these suggest he wasn't originally a deconstruction of the Michalis archetype... but rather like a Lorenz. Because, Berkut is what you get when a Michalis goes bonkers, and in this case tries everything to kill the true Rigel royal so he can sit upon it.
They'll hopefully do the same thing they did in Awakening and release spotpass chapters where Berkut and Rinea (among others) miraculously survive and join your party.
Honestly, this lovable little shit is probably one of my favorite FE villains if not my favorite. And his music is AMAZING. I'm a sucker for big, epic choirs.
I'm hoping he is playable in a prologue dlc. That way we can get to know more about him, Rinea, Rudolph, even Massena...hopefully. ESPECIALLY Rinea because he really loves her, and for someone very self-centered and thirsty for power to love another is commendable. She must have been someone really special to reach into his heart. I highly doubt he'll be available in some sort of Outrealm thing, but in a prologue, I can see. I love how the dlc for the Deliverance was done because it made me love Fernand...I wish to experience something similar for Berkut. He's a great character.
What-if ending: Unable to forgive himself for killing his beloved, he grew out his hair and never married. The least he could do to atone was helping the kids orphaned by the war. All to ensure none of them would grow up to make any of his mistakes.
"Lingering regret and guilt looming over him Berkut retreated from the public eye. He spent the majority of his days in solitude but could sometimes be found aiding children who had lost their families to the war, dancing alone or tending to the flowers in his beloved's garden."
Unbelievable... so you're telling me they made him act out lines that were never going to be used!? I *loved* him as a villain, but there was definitely a strong part of me that wanted him to join me in the end. Though I'm not sure how well or in character they could've played that for him, and I'm not entirely certain if that would've made him worse as a villain. UGHH so conflicted!
Only in Radiant Dawn on your second or higher playthrough. If you haven't played it yet I suggest you don't google it or read the rest of my comment, but if you have I can tell you how to do it. . . . . . . . . . 1. Deploy the Black Knight in the final chapter of Part 1. 2. Have Ike fight the Black Knight in Chapter 7 Part 3 (both need to survive) 3. View Ike's memory scene after beating Rebirth 4 (cannot remember if this is forced or not, it's been a while) Do this and Sephiran will join you in the final chapter. :)
> kill ashera on a save file > start new game on the same save file (do not delete it) > sephiran/lehran is recruitable in endgame, and so is pelleas in part 3.
yeah just like how dead characters in awakening could be recruited via spotpass (we could even recruit Rudolph and Fernand if Nintendo went with the idea)
Celica is Best waifu Yeah, well, his SPIRIT left, not the body. Such a thing would count as, y'know, being dead 90% of the time. Plus Alm's party ripped him a new bumhole, so there's that.
They could have added them as extra units for the act 6 post game with no relevance to the story. Previous games have done this with some of their villain characters, it was only Awakening that felt they needed to be alive in the story.
He should have been playable along with Rinea... After the battle Rinea runs in and starts yelling at him along with Alm proving that he was in Duma's illusion
I do hope we see him as DLC... BUT! ECHOES SPOILERS ALERT! Since he canonically died, I hope we just get him with no story reason like how Sacred Stones did it rather than how Awakening gave us Emmeryn
Yes but if you got him with no story reason and purely a gameplay reason, it would make him feel more a unit you got as a reward rather than a cheap death cheat Emmeryn got. It would make it canonically, Berkut is dead. But otherwise, you have him on your team
windwaker0rules these lines may have been recorded before the idea of him not dying was scrapped. Knowing the process of voice acting, he must have been recorded early on since he is such a large character
I'm guessing he was either originally intended to join Alm's army at some point or perhaps he could be planned to be playable in some Prologue DLC like how Fernand is playable in the Rise of the Deliverance pack.
I want DLC with him as a playable character. Since he was not in FE2 I really wanted to know more about him so we can know more about Rudolph (or other stuff about Rigelian royal family. Is the Empress of Rigel in hiding or dead? Did she die in giving birth to Alm? I have questions) and also how such a prideful guy fell in love with Rinea. He's such an interesting character, and he developed quite a lot especially in the final act.
Best character in the game. It's a shame that the plot went completely off the rails in act 4. It assasinated both Berkut and Rudolf and kinda ruined the story for me, to the point i didn't want to play post game.
Well, _The Sacred Stones_ gave you unlockable bosses in the Creature Campaign from fulfilling certain requirements in the Tower of Valni and Lagdou Ruins. Shadows of Valentia doesn't have a Creature Campaign of its own, does it? Neither does Awakening nor Fates, unless you pay money for DLC.

Gods, why isn't this guy playable?
Because the devs hate us...
Because IS doesn’t know true beauty when it’s right in front of them.
If they did all this, there was a good chance they were gonna add him to the game but cut him late in dev. such a waste....

I love how aggressively affectionate/caring he is. He goes from "Heal you idiot!", to "Perhaps you'll get it next time." In the drop of a hat
It's perfect.
I love Ian Sinclair's performance as Berkut.

Shame it does not seem that a 2nd wave of Dlc is announced at all.So much to my detriment we won't have Berkut uuuuuuh
Well, keep your fingers crossed for Heroes. Maybe they'll add Rinea too.
It is stupid my phone can not handle Heroes UGH!
they're adding him to heroes!!! it was on the official twitter
He sounds so mean but doting
Like an older brother.
It's a crying shame that these lines went to waste. He's such an interesting and complex character; I wanted him to get a redemption arc.

Berkut is a reflection of what Alm would have been had he been raised in Rigel.

Alexander Kuroyami or maybe like einharjar or something
I completely agree. I wish he and Fernand were playable.
I don't understand why you couldn't use the revival springs for Fernand, Deen/Sonya, or Berkut. It made so much sense

He sounds so angry about people needing to heal bloody hell
I'm so conflicted! I want Berkut to be playable because he's awesome, but I feel that would cheapen his great role as a villain in-story.
Yea, I can agree with that. I think he should be playable in a DLC only level, but you shouldn’t be able to recruit him with Alm or something.
that didn't stop IS when they made half of the villains playable on awakening
0/10 does not have him screaming uncle as his death quote

the biggest question is why did they voice this stuff in english if he was already confirmed as dead in the campaign when this game was in Japan...
windwaker0rules these lines may have been recorded before the idea of him not dying was scrapped. Knowing the process of voice acting, he must have been recorded early on since he is such a large character

Was Berkut planned to be playable? Did he get cut? Oh well, it's better that he's not.
Samus The Goddess - He's probably intended for future DLC perhaps.
I'm guessing he was either originally intended to join Alm's army at some point or perhaps he could be planned to be playable in some Prologue DLC like how Fernand is playable in the Rise of the Deliverance pack.
Making him playable and a villain would have been shoehorned, I like what they did to his character
I assume he'll get Emmeryn'd. Be retconned to be alive somehow and able to be recruited.
Or they could bring in our old pal the Outland gate and Yen'Fay him.
Hey Nintendo, could we get a Grand Hero Battle for Berkut and/or Fernand?
Jojo

So is this a fanmade thing or is somewhere hidden in the sound files?
These are all in the game files.
As fun as it would be to make him playable. I think it was best to keep him as a tragic villian. The story would be lesser without his fall
Well, _The Sacred Stones_ gave you unlockable bosses in the Creature Campaign from fulfilling certain requirements in the Tower of Valni and Lagdou Ruins.

everyone talks about how they wanted him to be playable but then it would have ruined the story.
