    The Nisi app makes calculating the time of exposures easy when using ND filters.

      Thanks Leon. I’ve always struggled to appreciate the Nisi app tbh. I feel like it’s all backwards. You should be able to enter ur aperture and be filter and it should tell you ur shutter length required 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Hey can you tell me how thick (mm) one NISI adapter ring is and one NISI filter is? Thickness of the colored part that is...if you have a caliper of course.

    You have
    F/

    ISO
    MM
    What is SS?
    It's the only setting I saw change.

    Hello Ralph, you should mention that if you use 2 filters at the same time you will get strong vignetting and 3 filters is not possible to use lol. ;) Thank you for your review! I really hope that the ND filter will be installed in the new cameras soon.

    How would you compare these with Polar helix which are magnetic with a quarter twist to secure?

  • @PeterWigenBjarnoe

    I am already a NISI user, but they are the "old" square ones that you see from other manufacturers, just with the difference that NISI's frame is better made and the filters are better than the others. It is precisely the colors that make the big difference, in my opinion they are 100% color neutral. However, the solution with the CPL filter could have been made smarter. And it should be noted that I can use my NISI system on the Nikkor Z 14-30mm f/4 S completely without vignetting, which was the reason why I chose that lens over the 14-24mm f/2.8, which in my opinion is quite difficult to use filters on. The use of filters must be quick and easy, which may well make me consider switching to this new NISI system.

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks Peter, I too used to use the square system, which was great but felt cumbersome to use and at times a bigger deal than it should have been. I really like this new set up and approach. I also don't mind the 14-24 for certain scenarios. I reckon it would be good to test on a rain forest scene with these filters... could come up real nice :).

    Do you think the friction set up will stand the test of time? i.e. will it wear and loosen?

    my only concern is that friction fit becoming loose after a while and will nisi replace them when they do ? I've been thinking about selling my nisi and going to kase purely on magnetic filters being so much easier then threads. id love too see some feedback on the fit in a month or 3 cheers mate

      No worries. At the moment I’d say they are snug. And I’ve been using them for 6 months, I got them very early. And they’re still as sung as the day I got them 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Thanks for the review.
    But why friction to magnet? If friction filters are put on with some force, they might affect the focus or focal length of those delicate lenses.

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  7 месяцев назад

      Great question. Ive asked and they said: “The reason that NiSi chose the friction mount rather than a magnetic mount is that it is much more secure. We heard a lot of feedback from people who bump their magnetic system filters and they just drop off the camera. Also, we have heard of some magnetic filter systems attracting iron dust if the filter is every placed on dirt which is near impossible to remove from the magnets once on there.”
      I’d tend to agree with them 👍

    • @PeterWigenBjarnoe
      @PeterWigenBjarnoe 7 месяцев назад

      I was thinking exactly the same thing, but as Ralph points out, the magnets attract dust (for example, there may be iron in soil).
