    Hey Guys ! Thank you ALL so very much !!!!!! The support is unreal! I did not think this video would get so much exposure. I wanted to come on here and give a couple updates:
    1. A year later, and the headboard is still up. None of the buttons came off, fabric is still together and not frayed.
    2. The description box has links, prices, and/or information about the supplies that I used
    3. I KNOW I haven't posted in a while, but I will be back for the NEW YEAR !! So, more projects are in the near future !!!
    AGAIN, THANK YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT !!!!!

    THIS is the best. I just turned 70, reluctantly retired and needed something to do. As a DIYer I have made headboards but never attempted tufting (too much work). Well, well, well...this young lady absolutely made my day! I made this headboard for my queen bed in 1 hour. Already had all the materials and went for it. Thank you so much! This is absolutely GENIUS!!! Keep up the good work!

    I just finished making mine! I did have trouble screwing into the fabric. The fabric wound around the screw and made a mess! I used an awl to poke holes first then widened them a bit with the end of a pair of embroidery scissors. It came out amazing! Wish I could share a pic!

      In was going to say the same bs cheap bit of painters plastic could save the carpet. It was good that she pointed out to measure the screws. Some people would otherwise screw it to the floor;). You could stop short of the edge and buy cool moulding, paint or stain it, and also have a nice border, but this is great for simplicity and good looks.

    Really neat. You are the first person I have seen that used washers and screws. That is pretty brilliant. The one thing I think may not have been explained is that, while you said to purchase plywood. I noticed that yours had some framing around the back edges. Sheets of plywood do not come with framing. Did you put some on? There was no mention of that.

    • @mrs.tajeer7218
      @mrs.tajeer7218  8 лет назад +29

      lookinggrl thanks so much ! 😊 I actually did not add anything to the back of my plywood. I got the piece from my father in law and it was already like that. I have done one without the extra on the back so it is not necessary at all! You will get the same results 😊

    I was just thinking how much easier it would be to just use screws and then I came across your tutorial 👍🏻🙌🏼
    This was amazing. I'm definitely doing it this way instead.
    I have some questions though. If I use foam which I most likely would, is the batting necessary?
    Also was your fabric stretchy?

    • @mrs.tajeer7218
      @mrs.tajeer7218  8 лет назад +8

      CJs Beauty World I'm soooo glad this inspired you ! I would say yes the batting is still necessary because: 1. It gives you an extra layer of fluffy and 2. Keeps your foam in place from shifting.
      My fabric was definitely stretchy which wasn't a bad thing but I had to make sure I kept pulling it tightly as I stapled it to the back.
      Hope that helps and good luck !!

    Wish I'd seen this before spending $200 on a headboard :-( I'll definitely do this for the guest room though

      I went and bought all the stuff. It cost me 60 dollars at home depot for a big piece of plywood and the wood peices for the legs. It then cost me 33 for quilt batting at Michaels. I then bought fabric and buttons for 26 and the foam pieces i bought two double mattresse foams and glue sticks that was 60 dollars. I dont know how she did this for 68 bucks.

    Omg you make it look so easy. I have a king size bed. How much more expensive do you think it would be?

    • @mrs.tajeer7218
      @mrs.tajeer7218  7 лет назад +1

      thank you ! Honestly, It's still gonna be cheap for a king size bed because the most expensive part is the fabric. I still think it will be less than $100

      Tanya Jex-Anderson I used some stretchy, sparkly fabric from jo-Ann's ... it was almost jersey material but not quite

    I really like how you did yours but yours didn’t really have the tufted look on the fabric because you stapled your fabric before putting your nails in. This would have been so much more gorgeous if you left the fabric unattached and loose, drilled your nails, then stapled your fabric. It’s still really pretty though

    You can buy a headboard really cheap, however this is better because you can customize it to match your room. The possibilities are endless!
    For a preteen girl, faded denim fabrics with pink or purple shiny buttons. You can go super girly or very tailored. I love this!!

    #BlackGirlMagic Love this video! Will try this when I move in August. However I did want to add that the most important part is at 6:45. It is crucial that you always take time to give yourself props when you do some awesome ish.
