One of your best videos this one Nat, watching a carb balance is actually really interesting.
I wonder if the air/fuel screws could do with setting to smooth out the idle, they are hard to get to but worth doing. I was pulling the carbs off and turning them all half a turn in or out then putting them back on. Now your carbs are functioning correctly this is a method you could do. You don't need the airbox to set them.

motorcycle rescuer I thin that you are right. Might try it with the carbs on first!

My 96 Kawasaki gt750 has erratic tick over ie hunting until it warms up then sits at 1400/1500rpm.
The front brake reservoir fluid will drop if pads are low.
Could be the master cylinder piston has worn seals or old fluid.
    Nicely tuned carbs though 👏👏👍

Daniel Barnes thanks mate. Enjoyed tuning the carbs. I am going to try the air fuel screws. They are all at 2.5 turns at the moment. I can’t find guidance on what they should be set at so it might have to be trial and error

@@NatsNackersYard The mixture screw manages a range of 3 complete 360-degree counterclockwise turns from the bottom/closed position.
      3. The mixture screw should have a spring and o-ring for tension and sealing integrity.
      4. Turn the mixture screw clockwise until it gently bottoms out, this makes the fuel charge very lean and the engine should not idle if it does then the pilot/idle jet is too big and needs to be replaced with the next size smaller.
      5. Turn the mixture screw 1 and 1/2 turns counterclockwise to establish a baseline for starting the engine.
      6. To fine-tune the idle circuit, adjust the mixture screw 1/4 turn in or out to achieve maximum idle RPM, wait 15 seconds between each adjustment for the idle to settle.

Daniel Barnes is that generic or specific to the ZL? Do you have the link mate?
