I, too, love to take prisoners... Give them magical powers... and then lock them up with no supervision.
Yeah like I was waiting for that to be explained somehow.

All Hail Jim
@@haruhirogrimgar6047It's less that they decided to make the DLC because of anything about the base game, and more that it was already basically finished before the base game even released - given that the developers were shoved to other departments of Square Enix within a month of release, it is fair to say that Forspoken was not a success and this DLC took very little additional effort to release.
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 They had to make it because they were contractually obliged to because the DLC was a preorder bonus.
I feel like the game would be so SO SO much better if the dialogue was completely rewritten
"The game would be better if it was written better". I mean... yeah lmao.
@@samhain4287Do you believe dialogue is the only necessary component to a good game?
no the magic combat was badly designed and the story was just badly formulated You would need a new team that isnt git their heada uo their woke asses
@marchew4592 Obviously not, but most people focus on the poorly written dialogue when criticising Forspoken. I said it would be better, not good.
The visual aspects of this game are very well made. A shame that the visual design team’s talent was wasted because of the writers’ incompetence.
Imagine thinking that "Did I just do that?" was such an amazing line that you should put it in the game _and_ the DLC. I can already see the writer rubbing his hands in excitement, thinking "This is it. This is my own _'May the Force be with you'!_ People will be quoting it for ages!"
And technically he was right, but he probably didn't expect people to quote it ironically, just to mock it.
People have been quoting that since Steve Urkle.
But back then it was funny.
its already a famouse line stever urko would say all the time. it was his catch phrase
I read this as "see the writer rubbing his hands in excrement" which seems much more fitting, since this game in its entirety is a loosely held-together dung pie.
I like how this game is trying to make out that Frey is a hero now. ''If you won't save them I WILL!! No one fucks with Athia on MY WATCH!!''

"Can I pass, what has already come to change?" is an infinitely better line than anything else I've heard in this game so far lol.
This game is such a sad loss. It had so much promise, and definitely has some good points. But the bad points are just so extreme that it tanks everything around them.
5 minutes in and I am already confused by the story. Frey quantum leaped, that I get, then Albus Birdman stabs her in the hand with the thingie, gives her magic powers, then hauls her off to the dungeon? Why give her magic if you are just going to lock her up? Isit because the game devs could not think of anything else?
As someone who unfortunately went in-depth into Forspoken, I can help you out.
So he marks Frey (as Thalia) as a vessel to offer the weird tree in the hopes that he can offer it enough energy from the life force of the townspeople and soldiers trapped inside to usher the rebirth of Sus Rust.
If the mark does not acquire enough energy within a day, they will explode, effectively nuking their surroundings.
It's a lose-lose for the vessel marked anyways.
But it seems like he wasnt planning on having Thalia escape and was going to just kill the townspeople and maybe his own soldiers for the cause.
He just happened to get lucky having Cinta teleport in and for both her and Thalia to kill every solider and beast around for it to work, I guess.
@@HalfBrainGamers Wow that's actually so bad and poorly executed, jeez
@@PixelHeroViish it's a really bad DLC, man lol
The summary is Frey is trying to dispel or push back the stagnant Break, and hears a voice leading her to a flashback monument that is supposed to help her save Athia, assumedly learning how to get rid of the Break.
But despite being told she will learn more about it by living through the past, she ultimately learns nothing significant about it and is guided towards Rheddah by a Tanta living there for sequel bait. (apparently there are Tantas in Rheddah too, that can use Athian monuments, don't think about it.)
@@HalfBrainGamers What a shame, they really should've had the significance of Rheddah and Sussurus' effect as a walking nuclear bomb explored properly in the base game
The dialogue genuinely sounds like a first script read. These people have never seen these words written down before.
Also, I like how the setup is about how this takes place long in the past but the world and characters are functionally exactly the same as the base game and the time skip makes basically no difference.
Ah, I remember everyone blanking out at times, Kev yawning as he was trying to stay awake with playing this DLC and Kev's outrage at spending his 20 bucks on a DLC that supposedly promised 3 hours of content, but ended in roughly under 2 and a half.
Those developers REALLY jumped the gun in giving this game DLC. Seriously, wasn't even aware this game had DLC until today.
So the post-game for Forspoken has Frey try and figure out how to learn more about the Break in an effort to stop it. For some reason, she thinks going to do a Boss Rush will give her more information. But ends up back at square one, meaning it was a poor excuse.
So the DLC promises Frey will learn more about the Break and how to stop it. Only for that to fall flat and for Frey to learn nothing tangible that would be effective in clearing the Break.
And then the end of the DLC teases that Frey will learn more about how to clear the Break by going to Reddah (which wont happen lol)
So they tease this information and keep pushing the answers back only to be stopped because they definitely wont make a Forapoken 2 now.
Great stuff.

I would never expect Jerma be the final boss of forspoken
There is a fine balance when it comes to making your protagonist speak. You can go the Forespoken route and make them talk constantly and give them some background, but they are super unlikable and never shut up.
Or you can go the same way as Far Cry 4 with Ajay Gale. You speak sometimes but there really isnt anything there. You have some personality, not much, and some backstory but you are mostly a plank of wood.
Then you have Far Cry 5 where the main character could just be a statue. They dont speak and have no personality or backstory. They are just there with a 5 minute cutscene to try and explain why.
Finally, you hage Red Dead Redemption or any Rockstar game really. Your character can be charismatic and likeable or an asshole based on YOUR choice. They have very fleshed out backgrounds and are extremely likeable.
Make your choice

It's a good thing you didn't speak to Cuff because from those little in-between dialogs alone you can see he's got brain damage from being forced to listen to Fray for two weeks straight. He doesn't need more of it.
A small part of me hoped that the writers would've improved based on the negative feedback from the initial launch, but the contrived use of "did I just do that?" followed by "where have I heard that before?" completely burned those hopes into ashes.
This dlc went completely under the radar for a good reason
I think most people forgot about this Trainwreck of a game. I don't know what the deal is of today's writers where they create unlikable characters that are also so annoying and completely unsalvageable.
