I'm with the S-Pen. It existed and worked great when Apple was still in their "we are never going to make a stylus" phase. I never understood why other artists were so set on Apple products even when they weren't set up for an art experience. People were buying third party styluses that didn't work great just to be able to use it with the iPad when Samsung was over here with a product that worked.

wow it's crazy how few people talk about that. I had the samsung galaxy Tab 10.1 (2011) version . BEST writting tablet I have ever used. It had the best writting experience. I upgraded to the samsung tab 12.1 in the next year and was so disappointed beacause it had that issue with the "glides on glass" effect that felt so unnatural. I kept going back to my old slow 10.1 tab till I stopped taking notes. I still miss it and remeber fondly how awesome it was to take notes on it.
Using both I tend to lean more towards the S-Pen for drawing/art. Simply for the rubbery tip on the S-Pen. iPad requires a matte screen protector that wears down the nib because that glass is way to slick. Great content 👍🏾
@@MzwandileHarmans a real pencil is made of lead in which the level of hardness can vary from a standard hb pencil. When drawing on paper it has resistance. Apple pencil draws on glass and without a rubbery nib or matte screen protector has no resistance. It's what I mean and in order to get a real feel you have to add extras to the iPad where you can just use the tabs7+ as soon as you take it out the box. 🙏🏾
Personally, I have the S7+. I've had Samsung devices for a while, now. But since getting this one, I find myself using it in Dex mode mostly. It operates and handles just like a laptop, and with Microsoft 365, it really is perfect for that. I very rarely use the S pen, but do occasionally play around with it and Autodesk for drawing.
I am a business student and I have both of these. My story is that I cracked my S7+ screen last semester and I had to send it to Samsung to get fixed (thanks to premium care). So I was excited to take my iPad pro and dust it off and really "lean into it" until I got my Tab back (which together with the tab S6 before it I had been using for years in school). I tried it for a solid week, but in the end, it just couldn't do what my Tabs could do as far as the overall experience for note-taking, reading, and things of that nature. Sure, the iPad CAN do all of those things, but the experience is just....sub-par by comparison to the tab experience. So after a week or so I switched back to my Tab S6 until my repair was complete (almost 2 months, but that's a different story) and didn't miss a beat. I don't know if it's better integrated with Microsoft office, or just that the alternatives on iOS are just lacking by comparison, but the experience was not great. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was far better on the Tab S6.
If I have to use my tab for over 5 years then, should I go for tab s7+ or ipad for display quality ( considering screen burning issue on amoled display) ?
@@User-cb4jm Sure. Let me just preface by saying that while the tab worked best in my experience the iPad didn't do anything poorly. If you are starting out with either I'm sure it would be fine for what you need it for. but I started with the Galaxy Tab so the multitasking, the note-taking, the translating, the handwriting into text, being integrated with office suite and G-suite (in a more roundabout way) was almost effortless and snappy. The iPad writing didn't feel as good as Thao mentions in her comparison but the ease of things like smart select is a game-changer in my opinion especially if you need to just pull a picture from the internet and put it into a document. I'm sure you can do it on iOS, but it's just....less intuitive. on the iPad everything just felt disconnected. The best note apps couldn't connect to my suites, the standard note apps didn't sync with my suite, and while the office suite did work on the iPad, it wasn't as intuitive as it was on my tab. It felt like there was less I could do with my actual text in OneNote on the iPad compared to the Tab as well. It really just depends on what you start with. Both are premium devices and have tons of features and whatnot, but in my experience, the way the Tab works is just easier and more efficient. I didn't have years of learning how to use the tabs either, the Tab S6 was my first premium tablet and I only started leaning into using it for school work right before the pandemic hit. I was able to just pick it up and do things without much of a learning curve which is why I was expecting more from my iPad pro (2020 version if that matters), but it just didn't work as well. Full disclosure though my daily driver has been a Samsung device for a long time, and I've done light work on my phone for years as to where my iPhone XS I use more casually, though I do know my way around the OS. But that's just my experience, I'm sure if you are starting from having nothing, it depends on what system it will be used with. If you have macs then you can probably get the iPhone to work best with that for what you need, but if you have any other system then the Tab will probably be the way to go. Just depends mostly on your circumstances
@@User-cb4jm Long story short, iPad easily trumps Tab S7 and any tablets with its well optimized app ecosystem specifically crafted for iPad especially pro apps like Procreate, Lumafusion etc but for OS software itself, Android with One UI on Tab S7 actually feel more practical, more comprehensive especially with features like Dex, better file management and external screen support. Hope this helps ...
I'm an avid Samsung user and am looking at getting the tab s8 and totally expected the Apple Pencil and iPad to win in a landslide. This is really interesting to hear tho as I never hear about the advancement that Samsung has made in these categories
As someone who used the S7 consistently for artistic purposes, I'm surprised no one ever mentions that the spen nib wears out in time. The spen white rubber nib wears out and frays in 3 months of heavy use, and the harder black nib wore down in about a year for me, while the nibs are replaceable, Samsung doesn't offer them and you have to source them from online stores,
they also provide two different types of nibs. the black ones are great for writting because of how hard the nib is whilst the soft nib is great for drawing :)
Great video! I used the iPad Pro 2020 for the better part of year before picking up the Tab s7+ a couple months ago. I ended up giving the iPad to my wife. Like you said, both are a good experience, but the S7+ is a better fit for me. It might be because I am a long time Note user, but the S-Pen just feels better in every way compared to the Apple Pencil. Like you said, OS preferences will be a factor and you really can't go wrong with either.
And then there is me. After cleaning the screen, i use the pen when i watch movies or change between episodes to avoid fingerprints. I kid you not. The drawing part is fairly minimal.
You CAN go wrong with android because one of the hidden cost of owning android devices is the abysmal product support with security updates and only patch it for two years before they cease their support. My iPad Pro 2015 is still supported despite being 7 years old and thats one of the reason why I’ll always go apple.
@@slampest Wow, guess what? That way you’re increasing the possibility of scratching your screen because of the dust debris getting caught in pencils tip. Your finger is way safer if you’re that paranoid.
@@StonerSquirrel they upped that to 5 years. And if youre no 60 year old boomer you can install the latest security updates on old android devices via a root. Something that Apple will NEVER have. Therefore android devices technically get longer updates than apple. But if you buy apple because its "easier to use and more simple and user friendly" then ig this is nothing for you.
Don't forget that you also have options if you go the S-pen route. Since it used standard Wacom EMR, there are a couple third party pens with higher quality and better grip. Example includes Staedler EMR, LAMY AL-STAR EMR, Mitsubishi Hi-Uni Digital and even the Wacom One pen (that was used in Wacom One Display and available to purchase separately). All of them works with Samsung S-pen devices, so you can carry one pen and use it with both S21 Ultra and Tab S7. That said, Bluetooth functionality (remote-thingy) won't work unless you use the included S-pen, but for the intended purpose, these can works better and more comfortable.
For me as an artist, I'll go for the S PEN. I like when the tip of my pen is thin. It helps see through tiny lines. Plus all the extra functions and the fact that you don't need to use it only when it's charged. That was a great review, though.
I have both tabs. The spen tip feels waaaay better than the apple pencil. I wish apple gave you the option to switch to a softer tip that felt more like the spen.
I still love my tab S7. It's become more than just a tablet for me. It's like my own media/gaming paradise. Considering that I still have an IPad Pro 10.5, this tab S7 literally changed what I love about tablets. I've find myself wanting to learn more about my tab S7: drawing, painting, doing productivity work, etc... Things that I could hardly do on my IPad. And I still find myself learning more about my tablet since I bought it 3 months ago.
Don't forget that you an install game emulators on the Tab S7 if you want to play older retro games like Super Mario Bros., Sonic The Hedgehog, Mario Kart 64, etc.
I just wish it has desktop class browser like iPad OS, then it would be perfect for me. Since Samsung already have pretty deep collab with Microsoft in so many stuffs, would be nice if ARM Edge browser coming to Galaxy Tab with access to all Chrome extensions, that would be awesome. But for now, I can only dream for this to happen ...
@Logan Teo I use Edge, it's very good but none so far comes close as feature rich as desktop counterpart unlike Safari since it's now supporting extensions on all platforms which is great. I wish Google and other browser makers upped their game on Android side ...
You mentioned an eraser on the back of the stylus as a pencil does. You can purchase them for Samsung. I've had one for years, since my Galaxy note 5, and it still works great with the new tablets like the Samsung s7 FE. I'm sure it works on the s7 and s7+ pro
Air action alot people call it gimmick but i use it so much in this table the i didn't realize how useful that funtion is and with bixby routine + you can do alot of crazy stuff
Another advantage of spen is that one can change to use LAMY EMR and Noris series to experience better hand feeling. Moreover, the nib is changable, and there are rich selections of nibs in the market designed for professional wacom devices with various features. Peasonally speaking, since I use LAMY for paper work from middle school, I enjoy LAMY EMR so much.
Very good review. One more important difference between iPad Pro and S7 is software updates.IPad gets updates for 6 to 7 years. But S7 ,like any other android device gets updates for only 2 or 3 years.I request all reviewers to point out and highlight this difference ,so that a change may come in android manufacturers and hopefully they start giving updates for longer periods.
I use Apple and Samsung products and love them both. I really wanted Tab 7+, it's cheaper also..but got Ipad Pro instead, it has the biggest screen yet 🥰😍
While I do not have an iPad, I used to have the iPad 2 and I loved the gesture navigation on it. It is something I miss when using my Tab S7+ at times without the pen. Being able to swipe between apps, go home, and see recent apps was nice with just your hand. However the usefulness of the S Pen however does eliminate that and I find myself just placing the S Pen on the top of my tablet whenever I start using it. As you said the battery only matters when using BT functionally but I have had very long sessions and barely seen the S Pen's batter go down even into the 75% range. It seems it only really uses batter when actually using the BT functionality, so it can last very long based on usage.
Sorry? Doesn't the tab s7+ use the bottom bar to navigate through recent apps, switching between apps and home? I've used ipad pro before i believe the function is still the same

I haven't use android tablet for a long time so I don't know if S tablet will got the update OS support as long as iPad or not. Both seems great after all.
The fact that you have to replace the Appel pencil tip if you use it often, it shows how much the Samsung TAB S7 + is valuable in terms of price and quality

So personally I would prefer the S7 for most to all of my student work as it looks like (to me) that it would be better for that, BUT I believe that the iPad would do a lot better when it comes to a lot more advanced things that require great speed and reliability, but really both are extremely good tablets.
I primarily use my tab s7 for note taking pdf sketch ups and podcast consumption. works great for all that and the included dex mode is invaluable for school work.
Hi Harry, when you write on the S7 is the action almost silent compared to the plastic apple pencil on glass? I have an ipad mini with apple pencil one and a Note 20 ultra and a Microsoft Surface Go. The spen on the Note 20 is silent, which I like when using around other people. The iPad makes an annoying clacking sound with every stroke. The Surface Go is okay but the pen still makes a slight clicking sound as the nib presses in on contact. I trying to decide between an expensive Surface Pro 8 or a S7+.
From an iPad user's perspective (iPad Air 4), Tab s7 is way superior in terms of hardware specifications and software experience. However, the lack of pro apps like Lumafusion and Affinity Photos just forced me to go for the iPad
Nah,the thing that stops me Is that ipad is waaay to expensive, like, too much where i live And even if i am an artist,i personally find samsung better for me
It was actually Thao's incredible reviews that convinced me to get the S7+. It was a wonderful 6 months of continuous dating with the tab until... ...it just doesn't have the apps and hardware-to-software seamless interface for my specific needs. Notwithstanding Autodesk Sketchbook kept crashing even if I only had 7 layers on my work. I would liken the S7+ as a good jack-of-all-trades. Still...another very informative review.
Hey Thao! As you were saying that nor apple nor Samsung have erasers on the back of their styluses. Microsoft has an eraser at the back of it's styluses
Let me be honest here I just love how minimalist the videos are and I want to follow just for the S7+ but now I just watch every video Btw thanks for all the great reviews on S7+ please do more in the future🤗🤗
Overall experience, I still do prefer the Tab S7+ especially the Spen and the overall Samsung hardware and software, but the iPad still have better "pro" apps ecosystem compared to android overall.
Been using my tab S7/s pen for drawing for a few months now; really loving it. Have to say though, samsung REALLY need to make spare nibs more accessible... Anyone who is really regularly using their pen has that worry about wearing down the nib; and most of the third party nibs aren't as good as the one that comes with it.
That was the killer for me, as someone who only uses my tablet for art and drawing, when the pen nibs break, my tablet loses all functionality for me, and I can't keep spending money on garbage third party nibs that don't even work as well, I'd rather have a pen with a multi-year lifespan and replace the whole thing, than one pen I need to continually fix because the nibs only last between 3 to 6 months with heavy use, and I draw for multiple hours every day being a graphic design student...
hi i saw a comment where it said you can use other pens with the samsung tablet, like the pen from the wacom one. it just won’t have bluetooth and you will have to pay extra, but i’m sure those pens will have easier accessible nibs
at first I wanted to buy an iPad, since almost all of my colleague is suggested me to buy one. but after some research... the no need to recharge and bundled pen, the seamless integration with windows 10... well...TAB s7+ is FTW!
Both superb tablets. Very difficult to decide a best. For media I prefer the tab. For general web browsing the iPad. Can’t go wrong with either. The extra power on the iPad is a plus. But a lot of that brute power isn’t made use off.
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy tablet S7. To use for digital art and it is amazing. Like it's a big plus to have the spen included. Plus if you have a samsung phone. They connect so what I save to my phone is on my tablet and vice versa. Like I had a co-worker who is going to buy the Apple Pro for digital art but I brought in my tablet to show her that the S7 is just as good plus way more budget-friendly. She was convinced.
I think its a better position to charge the pencil on the backside, cause that way it doesn't act like a distraction when you want to view anything on the screen. Charging on the top side will irritate me soo much cause the pencil will always be in view.

you're a very great informed reference for detailed information... i have the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone, and the Ipad Pro... but i've been wanting to get additional tablet with a different form factor to drawn on.. & i love that Samsung STILL allows you to add a SD memory card (to increase memory, and have a more private place to back up and save - off of public clouds).. so i'm doing research before i dive in... & i watched some of your vids.. you're videos are the bomb.. Yeah, i subscribed hahaha PS. i'm an artist, and i tend to like the feel of the S Pen better.. i have the Apple pen.. and it always needs to be charged. There's no way to turn it off (yeah, there are work arounds.. but it's work). The S Pen doesn't need to be charged.. it just works. & it comes included with the Tablet. Apple is always charging more for less. & i'm not an Apple hater.. i have 3 of their old tablets i bought when they first came out. I do music too, and their apps & hardware have always been superior to Samsungs for creative purposes (because of their low latency).. Samsung is just catching up.. but when i got the S21 Ultra, i see that they have made very big strides..
I can say that S7 plus is a better choice, it is much cheaper, you have a free S pen. Although the M1 processor is much faster than Snapdragon. But to be honest, it's the same. Most of us won't run any heavy tasks that require a lot of power In a tablet. We will normally use a computer to accomplish them. In tablet most of us usually use it to watch videos, surf the Internet, and reading, so the speed really doesn't matter. So get s7 plus is a better choice
I've never own these tablets and thinking of buying one in near future. I know picking samsung is better choice for me because I'm more of android and PC user and it'll work great with tab. I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, and own an iPad 10.2 inch (2019) model and I absolutely love both for their own features. So seeing the comparison going as the newer devices come out for both Apple and Samsung is absolutely incredible to see. Now, my iPad is only Wi-Fi, where as my Galaxy Tab has a data chip slot inside of it. one of the biggest perks was my Galaxy Tab offers expandable memory. I love Note taking on both, but different ways. I actually would bring two tablets into class instead of bringing in a laptop in college. I bought a keyboard that had the ability to connect to Bluetooth to three different devices. I loved pulling up my iPad into a notepad for handwritten notes on the PowerPoint or on a note taking app. I loved using my Galaxy tab and the s pen and my keyboard to take notes while typing and to navigate really fast, like you said, you don't have to juggle between using finger and pen, you can just use the pen. I have to use the older style of Apple Pencil, the one where you have to charge it, without connecting it to the iPad itself, and that is my biggest caviat of the iPad. It's another thing you have to remember to charge, or keep charged.

I have to note, that an Heavy factor in deciding which, is procreate in my opinion. Very good program with a one-time purchase plan.

Using both I tend to lean more towards the S-Pen for drawing/art. Simply for the rubbery tip on the S-Pen. iPad requires a matte screen protector that wears down the nib because that glass is way to slick. Great content 👍🏾

A real pencil has hard tip
@@MzwandileHarmans a real pencil is made of lead in which the level of hardness can vary from a standard hb pencil. When drawing on paper it has resistance.
Could you elaborate which areas in particular the experience didn’t match up to the iPad. I’m curious about the differences in the tablet OSes.

@@vishalsrivastav4815 I am actually coming from s pen and have shifted to apple pencil. As soon as I got the s pen out of the box, the tip was frayed, and that's not the case with apple. The s pen sometimes does not respond, whereas the apple pencil always responds. And don't even get me started on the way the s pen's body is yellowing. So, don't comment assuming I know nothing about what I'm saying. Alas, enjoy your s pen and I'll enjoy my APPLE PENCIL.
PEACE ✌
@@debv.c Ok bro got it... PEACE 👍...
But I still say that u haven't used S pen, and u urself admitted that S pen inside the box was not good. So thats y, may be ur experience is not same as mine.. I used a Good S pen and it is definitely better while taking notes than Apple pencil. And I like using its other features also which is sadly not there is apple. 🙄🙂🙂👍
I am looking for a tablet mostly for taking notes for my studies, thanks alot for a great video!
Thanks for this video it helped a lot ✍🏼
3:02 i really like that feature i can easily erase and customizable too
I just love your videos. Great quality, informative and useful. And fun to watch! Continue your great work!
Personally I use my iPad to take notes & most of the time I use it with my keyboard so those extra features I don’t even look for.. what I like about my iPad is that I can answer calls & text from it while I’m studying & to me that’s all I need but I would love to try out a galaxy tab
Quite the useful video. Kudos!
I prefer the Pencil 2 because it doesn't hurt to touch any screen. with the spen, there may be a bad screen space when you want to draw. the pencil for writing and drawing alone is very easy without bothering. 😉
you're a very great informed reference for detailed information... i have the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone, and the Ipad Pro... but i've been wanting to get additional tablet with a different form factor to drawn on..
I feel like a lot of functionality can be overwhelming and ends up not being used to its full potential
this is a core fundamental of things tech, also reliability and consistency play in the same ballpark.
Finally a fair and objective review of both tablets!
Love your explanation. 2 years ago, but still, this is all useful information
thank youu! your review are so helpfull..
Great comparison. Samsung needs to adopt a 4:3 aspect ratio for better note taking and sketching
Please review the S7 FE when you get your hands on it
No they don't. 16:10 is the better aspect ratio overall for most things.
Can u plz make more vids comparing samsung tabs and apple tabs
I can say that S7 plus is a better choice, it is much cheaper, you have a free S pen. Although the M1 processor is much faster than Snapdragon. But to be honest, it's the same. Most of us won't run any heavy tasks that require a lot of power In a tablet. We will normally use a computer to accomplish them.
In tablet most of us usually use it to watch videos, surf the Internet, and reading, so the speed really doesn't matter. So get s7 plus is a better choice
It’s not free, it’s just included in the price
@@-rarefied-8280 but why the price is lower overall?
@@chenmoney1920 😔 apple really thinks we're rich
I think this video deserves a 2023 update comparing the the iPad Pro vs Galaxy Tab vs Surface Pro. Cheers!
This was so helpful, thanku
I've never own these tablets and thinking of buying one in near future. I know picking samsung is better choice for me because I'm more of android and PC user and it'll work great with tab. All of the spen features, multitask, dex, external screen, freedom just awesome. But I'm buying tablet for art purpose and nearly all off the RUclips artist choose iPad over Tab
It's another thing you have to remember to charge, or keep charged.
hii, I'm thinking of buying a tablet to draw, and play videogames, since you have an iPad and a samsung tab, wich one do u recommend the most? I've sen many ppl that prefers samsung and others that prefers iPad so I'm kinda confused..
I am telling you, Apple beats Samsung in the marketing department hands down. Apple not just makes overpriced products but also manages to convince people to purchase them!
this was helpful, thank you
