Olive and your Thai constellation are my fav recurring characters on your channel 💕
I was thinking the samething💚
"Our" Thai is getting her stuff together! Looking lovely!😍 She's teaching us patience and to not give up. ♥️💕
Your Thai is going to boom with new growth, perfect timing with Spring right around the corner, planties are stoked for the extra daylight 🙂💦🌱💫
I'm so glad it's doing well! Literally hold my breath every time you post about this guy and say a little prayer. We are all emotionally invested. Thanks Fern, always happy for your content 🌿🧡💚
I place a coffee filter in the bottom of the pot to help prevent the roots from growing out the slits or holes
She looks like she has finally come into her own with a fabulous root system that isn't quitting 🤩😍🤩😍💖. So happy that you didn't give up!!!🥰😘💓
I love all the crunchy pot/soil noises!! I’m not someone who watches ASMR but something about your microphone and repotting makes my brain happy 😂
It’s a rainy day here in the desert, so you know I had to enjoy it even more with a relaxing Fern video 😌🌵🌧️
Something about waking up to a new fern video & a layer of new snow feels magical 🥰🧚
Oh how lovely 🥰 It snowed here last night too actually! But it's already melted. Have a beautiful day x
Are you from Utah? We’re having a crazy snow storm here! It’s beautiful! One of those where it’s so reflective at night that it still looks like it could be daytime outside!
A transparent inner pot is a good idea for monitoring the roots, but plants one buys (except orchids) are always in black, opaque nursery pots.
Y’all we are blessed with the Fern content the past few weeks! Slay mama!
It took so long to give you leaves because you repotted it... it was focusing on filling the pot with roots than making new leaves! Love that you got more beautiful leaves now!
I like to put a little bit of weed barrier in the bottom of my pots before adding anything else to keep roots and soil from coming out. That might help in making future repots easier.
I loveeee when my baby goes down for a nap then I finally get to sit and put RUclips on to destress for my little hour I get and fern uploads 29 mins ago! It’s meant to be every single time 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
The variegation on your Thai is so pretty! Hopefully it is going to mature faster now that spring is approaching. I find that monsteras during the winter stop growing. My big ones, even if they were putting out new leaves, stopped the process and just now restarted unfurling the new leaves. 😅
I'd love to see you make a video on your experiencing raising Anthuriums from seeds + Anthurium collection overview - I know you showed us in your recent updated houseplant video but they were hidden in the cabinet):
Hard work always pays off! Great job with this diva! 🥰
Fern you are amazing. You continue to do what you do.
She's so beautiful and you have done a great job in caring for her!!
What a journey it’s been 🥺 so happy to see it thriving with you!!! I have a good feeling about this time around 😘🥰 sending all the good planty vibes so that this gal can grow to be HUGE ❤
We are also emotionally invested in (you, and) this plant 😍 thank you for the update! xo
You’ve done very well with your Thai. Don’t give up on it!
I just love watching your videos ❤❤❤
Looks beautiful 💚 I love when you upload Fern, hope you’re doing well ☺️
queen HOW DID YOU KNOW that I needed an update on your beautiful thai con
Great job taking care of this plant. You have such great determination 👏. Beautiful outcome.
Hey Fern, your hair is looking AMAZING!
But honestly don't you just love your plant a bit more for being the weaker version 🥰? It's so precious and you come so far 💚
I'm glad you're still with her and you haven't given up!! She is gorgeous😍😍 my is so tiny!!
Fern my partner is loving my plants so much he's enclosing our back porch to make me a sort of greenhouse! None of my normal friends get my excitement so i tellin you guys
Good job queen 👏👏👏
Beautiful plant Fern! Big wish list plant for me 🪴💚
The saga continues!!
And also you look amazing 🤩 the hair is perfection!
Awe thank you so so much 🥺💖
So glad it’s been doing well! I recently discovered the “Thai constellation 2.0” video too and thought it was interesting! Now I know to be particular whenever I decide to get one.
If you want to avoid root rot plant it in a large pot. Mine is more than a little bigger than yours but in a ten inch nursery pot. When I put it in there it was the same size as yours. Never water it thoroughly until water drains thru the bottom, I just water down the middle where the stems are when the top looks dry with about a cup or two of of water once every ten days depending on the season, The surrounding soil will wick away any excess water and stop the root rot. I also do this with my philodendrons and dracaenas. The few plants I water straight thru until they drain are my pothos and scindapsus and then I let them almost completely dry out. As for fertilizer I use a weak solution for every watering on all my plants during the growing season and cut it back in the winter to once a month. With the exception of a few plants that need a lot of moisture, I keep the top soil on all of my plants fairly dry which is why I have no fungus gnats..hope that helps
The dog is thinking blaa-Blaa-Blaa get me some food.
Glad yours is doing well now hope it still is! I just got one wish me luck 🤞🏼🤞🏼
She is so beautiful ,she has come a long way,
💚🌱🌵☘️💚
you are so beautiful, i love the hair and the make-up 🥰
Welp. I did it. I ordered a little bb Thai constellation after watching this video. I’m excited for the rollercoaster!
It's looking so great! I have a baby Thai I got last month. It's given me a new leaf already but fingers crossed it continues to do well.
I am so excited for your monstera thai!!!Thai!!!! She is beautiful!!!!! Great job!!! Have a great week sweetheart!!!! Love all you videos!!!
Awe thank you!! 🥺🥰💖
good morning fern!! 💕
Good morning! 🥰🌿
i love your sweater so cute
Love the thai
Seeing your Thai now and then coming back to this video and seeing how people were telling you to get a new Thai, all I can say is I’m glad you didn’t!💗
Omg so true 🥹 I’m glad I pushed through with all his antics!!
Fern, I'm sure a lot of people told you already but just incase- a RUclipsr called 'Firefly in the Room' made a super cute pot for you in her latest video! It's the cutest drawing of Olive 🥹
Hello Fern from Puerto!!! The Thai is my wishlist plant…we’ll see…🪴💚🙋🏼♀️🐩
I got mine gifted to me in mid 2020 and it’s been non stop growing,I cut it up in January 2023 and got 7 mid,1 top cuts and the original mother plant, each of them has sent out growth points and the mother has let out 3 fenestrated leaves! So I’m not sure if it’s because I live in a warm climate ( Australia) yours looks beautiful Fern! 🤞💚🪴
A Thai is my only plant on my wishlist.
Someday I’ll have one and I hope she’s as beautiful as yours. 😊
NOt going to lie ive been following your Thai journey for years and i finally got one for myself and ive been having THE SAME ISSUES with root rot! I have just a seedling (and bought a second 4" pot to add to it) and i have re rooted that seedling at least 4 times now and ive had it for about 6 months! im more shocked that it keeps coming back mor than anything!
+
we love u 🥰😘
The dynomyco is the best im glad i be using it💚💚💚💚
I have been thinking of getting my first Thai Constellation a small one to start off with. And doing some research also which first Monstera to begin with first time buy. The Thai seems to be the best one as you don’t have to worry about reverting the variegations stays each new leaves you get compared to an Albo. Which they can revert also the white leaves can get discoloured too.
Hey fern! To get stubborn stickers off, I always run then under hot hot water and they come off pretty easy. Hope this helps 💕
I would love to have a Thai- they are just so cool- right down to the name!!!🪴
Oh my gosh Olive in the background 🥰
Hey Fern greetings from Sydney🐨 Your TC looks AMAZING well done👏💪 I personally think it shouldn't really matter if it's 1.0 or 2.0.....it looks great and youve obviously been doing all the right things...it's happy and looks healthy 😉
As someone that only wants low maintenance plants I definitely wish the older Thais (1.0) were more readily available as cuttings or such. But you just don’t see Thai cuttings. I’ll own a Thai eventually. I just prefer it to be easygoing.
I'm not sure if you're looking to add another Thai or not, but if you are then I would highly recommend getting one from Rare Plant Fairy. She's located in Detroit, Michigan, USA but I do believe she just started shipping to Canada. She is heavily involved in plant science and really knows her stuff. I have a few plants from her and they're all top tier; my Thai from her grows wildly fast and some of the most dramatic variegation I've ever seen.
Your Thai is beautiful 😍
You look so gorgeous ❤
I bought my Thai Constellation late summer 2022 and it’s been a great experience for me. It’s consistently giving me one leaf a month and I haven’t had any root rot issues. Maybe I got lucky with it, but I do see a lot of people saying that their TCs are also pretty hardy.
I'm on this journey now too. I got a cute baby in December. I have mine in LECA and a self watering pot with a water gage. I started it right away on a moss pole. In the two month mine popped out 2 leaves and I already see roots reaching into the moss. I have no idea if this is a 1.0, 1.5 or 2.5 version. But like you... so far so good.
That old/new TC thing is so interesting to me because I have 1 Thai from probably 2016/2017, MAYBE 2018 but I don't think so, and it's so finnicky. Got it up to like 4 really nice leaves and then it dropped all of them and seems to only care about growing roots now lol. Then I got another one to add in maybe 6 months ago, 2 new leaves without even a whisper of finnick lol
omg I just checked it was 2019 time is fake
Gardenworks in courtenay just opened ❤️ it’s the old art knapp location
Also kaylee Ellen has an awesome breakdown of Thai 1.0 & 2.0
Looking good after all the troubles you've had. I just picked up a small 3 leaf baby, how often do you water in quick draining soil?
We are emotionally invested in this Thai too 😂😂😂
I’ve got a thai that I got four-ish years ago and I had a thai that I bought a year ago (which I’ve sold on now), and I can definitely see a big difference. My original thai can deal with anything - overwatering, underwatering, lower light, higher light, never had rot or any issues and all the props from it have survived and become amazing plants with high variegation. The newer one was the exact opposite 😂
This is so interesting, I definitely think there are massive quality differences with Thai Constellations, I have mine for around a year and it‘s one of my easiest fast growing plants. I bought a baby and it sized up ridiculously quick (despite having a big amount of white for a Thai). So maybe it‘s a difference in the genes
I too have the Thai 2.0 :( Rot straight away. Im living your journey lol.
Okay but Olive’s judgemental face during this video 😂
Just received my 10in Thai yesterday. It has 5 leaves & the pot seems a little too small. From your journey, what has been your favorite, most successful mix? Thank you for sharing, I've watched many of your videos today & will continue to do so.
Funnily enough, when she said that I thought about your Thai (2.0)! haha
❤️❤️
Good morning!!
good morning!! thank you for watching 🥰
I hope I can grow my albo too- it grows so slow and has gone from like a 1 mature leaf cutting to a 3 juvenile leafed plant over the course of a year 😂
Could you maybe do a video comparing the difference in care for the Thai vs albo ? 😊😊
Honestly, there’s no difference. It’s probably just Fren’s TC that’s a little bit bratty.
💚💚
I just got a Thai constellation, super excited about it! I haven’t reported it yet though. It is currently in soil that is what it came in, with all you’ve been through with your Thai, what would you recommend?
My clear orchid pots have large holes in the bottom, so I started cutting and using old window screen circles to block the soil from coming out and making a mess. If anyone has done this and has not had any issues, please let me know.
Do you have an adventitious root sticking out from the plant. Do you stick them in the soil to grow?
It’s looking good stick with it. Do you treat it like an orchid and expose its roots to daylight or does that pot sit inside another pot?
this video made me curious about how you would compare your favorite philodendron to your favorite monstera i feel like you love your variegated monsteras so much so i am curious to know
Olive was giving you judgie looks for disrupting her nap....lol
Your Thai is beautiful no matter which one it is. You could just add another plant to the family 🌱
I can’t believe you mentioned Kaylee
Literally my two fav RUclipsrs❤
There definitely is different batches
Some being hardier than the other
The main difference is ease of propagation as well
The newer batch are absolutely a nightmare to propagate
I think if you want to find a hardier Thai
Getting from a long time collector would be a option
But Slower growing might not be a bad thing though
Thais can get massive so 😂
I've found that the Thai grow faster and bigger in pon.
holy why all the ppl have those much problems with Monsteras.
scares me, just bought a Thai and a deliciosa variegata, now im scared like hell that i rot them.
alrady made my own soil with Perlite, Pine Bark, Coco coil, worm castings and some part special premix for monstera i got from the shop that delievered me both.
now i have those dumb feeling, after seeing all those root rot videos, that i have to check every month my roots. :/
Hi. Kaylee Ellen in her last vlog spoke of Thai constellations from certain years ('18/'19?). That they have problems growing. I wasn't paying full attention, but please do check it out. Maybe you just have one of *those* ones.
Hi, if my philodendron guttating does this mean it has enough water or guttation does not indicate when to water? Thanks
My Thai constellation is a diva
Where do you purchase your large clear plastic pots? I have a hard time finding ones over 6 inches :(
👍👍
Fellow Vancouver Islander here 👋🏻 what is the soil combo you are you using…my Thai is struggling (its in PON)
It's not just your plant. Trust me . Mine is doing the same thing
I just got a Thai Constellation at a garden convention last week and the lady who sold it to me said she only ever bottom waters hers and to never get water on the petiole to help prevent rot? I'm hoping that will be enough for my new baby to make it! :)
It would be fun and interesting to see you have one of hakunalaplanta's monstrous thai constellations. 😊
That is the dreeeaaammmm
and a wildfern x hakunalaplanta collab would be awesome!
I have a ton of finicky anthurium etc but NOTHING scares me like a Thai. My sister just bought one to share with me & im terrified to rot it 😵💫🤦🏼♀️
👍
I can't find that size of orchard pot I really need some if u no where u can order some please post it
Did you get your Thai at gardenworks?
