  • Matt Walsh went into the heart of leftist college campuses and took questions from students at UC Berkeley. He went into topics such as transgenderism, radical gender ideology, his hit film "What Is A Woman?", and finally agreed to watch anime?

    Hi Matt, Jacob's question wasn't a bad one, but:
    you do before/after studies to compare one method with another. E.g. whether you should use one surgical method or the other for a cruciate ligament tear. Before/after- Studies are not suitable for determining whether the operation itself was good. You need other studies for that, namely those with control groups. One group is operated on, the other is not. So: to see whether a trans operation is useful, one would have to compare a group of children who want it and then have the operation. And compare it with a group of children who also want it, but who do not get the operation.
    You would have to compare these two groups after 10, 20, 30 years. However, since the desire to transition in most children resolves itself after a few years anyway, I think the outcome is likely in favor of "no surgery".
    In any case, the before/after studies cited by Jacob are not suitable for scientific proof of the usefulness of trans operations. The scientists concerned should actually know that. But they come from the gender area. Since this is not about science but about ideology, the studies are of course wrongly structured. Who would have expected anything else?

    • @bonbonpony
      @bonbonpony Год назад +1

      Although that would be a much better study from what we have so far, it might still not be conclusive, because the test subjects might be biased as well. They might believe, being convinced by their doctors, and by the fact that they spent a lot of money on the surgery, that it was really worth it and that they're happy now (because if they wouldn't, they would have admit that they've got duped), and that the surgery has really improved their level of happiness. But it wouldn't be a proof that it's really the case, just that they believe so.

      Eventually, there will be long term studies that justify trans surgeries. Because that’s how the industry works. The real argument is in Jacob’s final question “how do we know anything?”
      1 when the nature of the evidence of these “studies” is the self report of perception of believer, it will inevitably come back in the affirmative on the whole
      2 the entire question of transgender treatment assumes the logical/ontological reality that gender is biologically based. With that assumption they have to reference male/female to identify as something not male/female.
      3 scientific evidence can help clarify how we experience reality, but it doesn’t define reality, per se.

    To Jacob - girls get conscious about growing boobs at puberty and periods. Most of them start slouching too and most girls go through a period of not being comfortable in their body. So cutting off their boobs in the short-run would duh improve their 'well-being' choosing a carefully specific definition of 'well-being' - The point is that there is no data to suggest that in the long run, this would improve their 'well-being' nor is it advisable for children to make childish and irreversible decisions about their body.

    Ask any natural born woman what she feels like as a woman she would pause for a long time because identity as a woman isn’t a question she asks herself. She just is. Even if she has a more masculine appearance or enjoys male-typical endeavors. The whole woman trapped in a man’s body claim presumes that one knows what “being a woman” is in contrast to what “being a man” is.

    • @thamomentum
      @thamomentum Год назад +5

      Well. I'm a man. I have male urges. I have male preferences in hobbies and jobs etc. So on a surface level - yes. I can tell what being a man is.

    • @winry2357
      @winry2357 Год назад +5

      @@thamomentum but you don’t have any way of contrasting it with what a woman is. You only have the male experience, so even if you don’t feel male, you cannot possibly conclude that you feel female. Same vice versa. I, as a woman, tend to have more traditionally masculine hobbies and interests, but I don’t know what it is to be a man, so I cannot say that I am manly. I just happen to have some characteristics that are seen by society as masculine.

    • @AjaxDGonzo
      @AjaxDGonzo Год назад

      @@winry2357Exactly. It’s an unverifiable claim. It is impossible for society to understand, let alone the individual. If you look at “man” and “woman” as ideals rather than physical realities, it is impossible to ever reach being a “man” or “woman”. That leads to individuals never being satisfied with themselves. Which explains, why the people who buy into that ideology are almost never happy with their bodies and themselves.

    • @intrigued16
      @intrigued16 Год назад

      What makes a woman a woman is that she is born a woman physically. Samething for a man. How we think and act is different. In general, women act and do things women do. Same thing for men. For both, some are more masculine, and some are more feminine. What you do, how you dress and how you feel dosent play a factor on it, they play a factor with social norms and stereotypes. That's way we say if your born a man or woman, you can't change that. If you feel like the opposite then there is some type of disconnect and if you only think your the opposite sex bc of what you like to do, how you dress or specific stereotypes. You most likely are very confused, mislead or you have gender dysphoria. Which, then you should go see a specialist and figure it out. Ppl should except themselves for who they are and set themselves for the body they were born in. Taking it any further than that without any proof is dangerous and damaging to our society.

    I cannot believe this was Berkeley - so much polite engagement. I use to pay little attention to this topic, because my belief was largely ‘live and let live’ but the disclaimer to that was, I don’t care what consenting adults do with their lives, I actually couldn’t care less - AS LONG AS - they are not hurting anyone or infringing on anyone else’s rights. A big part of why I ‘left the left’ is because this ideology has largely breached that disclaimer, with both minors and with infringing upon others. I once was one of these people like Jacob, who just blindly believed every ‘study’ every ‘headline’ anything I heard on the news, etc. Then, I found out the truth. It’s unfortunate that people who discover this are labelled ‘conspiracy theorists’, when in truth, it’s simply that they are more capable of using their critical thinking skills, exercising objective reasoning, choosing not to believe second hand information that they have not heard from the source, etc. The truth is, ‘gender affirming care’ IS a business you can invest in, as is identity politics. I’m glad there are young people and students here that aren’t all brainwashed.

    To the woman who asked the last question about preventing your future children from falling into the indoctrination trap…
    HOMESCHOOL!
    I know that’s what I will be doing. And it’s what I recommend to everybody that I know.
    At least, until your child has been formed into the adult that you want them to be and you have engrained in them, the truth about the world and the way that it works.
    And then, if you want to let them go to middle school, or, high school to socialize, I’d see no problem in that.
    However, willingly choosing to let the government and strangers raise your child from the time they’re in kindergarten all the way through university age, is absolutely WILD to me.
    I want my children to have as much time with me and their mother as they can, so that they can be taught the truth about all aspects of life.
    Especially, the aspect of how our government has lied to us and continues to lie to us, all of the time.
    They should be taught how to watch the news the correct way and how to take in information while also knowing how to challenge that information and fact check. And also, how to learn without having their thoughts controlled.
    There is a difference between listening to your teachers and taking in all of the information about the class that they have to offer and choosing not to listen to their insane ideologies that have absolutely nothing to do with the class that they’re supposed to be teaching.
    And there’s a difference between listening to somebody report on what is happening and somebody trying to force you to behave/think a certain way, or, demonizing you for not sharing the same opinions as them. Also, having the skills necessary to differentiate between an opinion and a fact.
