- David Sorenson, the husband of Ginny who was killed in the Waukesha parade attack, speaks during the sentencing hearing of Darrell Brooks on Tuesday.
A jury found Brooks guilty on all counts in the parade attack and the judge on Wednesday will hand Brooks' his sentence. He faces life in prison without parole.

This particular impact statement broke me. To spend 50+ years building a beautiful life with someone, and expecting to spend your remaining years with that person, only to have it all stolen from you in such a brutal way. This man has lived a long life. He should be enjoying these years, not mourning the unexpected, cruel, unfair murder of his beloved. I wish I could give him a hug and listen to him reminisce about his life with Ginny, over a cup of coffee.

I can not imagine marrying someone and spending an entire lifetime with them just to lose them in such a brutal way... I would feel as if I lost my own soul. I pray he and his new furry friend finds some kind of peace in this life.

I watched this trial throughout and the families of the victims were always in my mind. Hearing this particular victim statement really moved me and I wanted to give this guy a hug. Thankfully his son came up and gave him that final support to allow him to finish this statement. No one should have to go through such trauma in life.

The people he killed we probably the nicest, most well respected, loved, generous, caring people ever, they were also mothers, Sons, daughters, friends, cousins, neighbors, aunts, and whatever else you can think of. I feel so terribly bad for these families and what they have to deal with. I’m hoping this man will suffer in prison emotionally as hopefully one day he will actually realize the impact he made for all these families who will suffer for the rest of their lives. Where are the 20 or more people he said would want to speak on his behalf? I cannot believe his mother would even testify via zoom, her words carry no weight in this, especially since she provided the vehicle and bailed him out countless times. She could've left him in the Milwaukee jail and none of this would've happened. When you live under your parents roof, you abide by their rules if you are 4 or 40, instead you bailed him out and handed him keys. Shame on you! I see you've filed bankruptcy before, I pray these victims take everything you ever owned and the prosecutors find a way to put you in prison for a few years as well! The baby momma of his youngest daughter has to be a fool to expose herself and and her 8 year old daughter to any of this? Your 8 year old daughter is safe at home with you, young Jordan's 8 year old broken body is in the ground, where he will remain 8 forever. This jerk hasn't even paid you any child support, why even expose yourself or your child to this. This was the third victim statements I’ve heard so far and all I can say is that this was / such a wonderful community with such loving , sweet people! It makes me want to move from Ny city to Wisconsin ! And to think of the hundreds of people this Animal/POS has caused such deep pain to. I honestly don’t think he will live long in jail. Not sure where you’re from but here in NY I find many to be cold and self absorbed BUT not heartless like Darryl brooks. He’s just NOT HUMAN. I feel so sorry for all of the woman that this man has had relations with and even children. Prayers to them too as we know at least one was abused the poor young lady. I think she’s only like 22 now. Seems like a sweet woman too. I hope she moves forward and meets a Man a real MAN not a coward woman beater like this animal.
